I received a call from [redacted]s daughter ([redacted])she wanted me to come to his house and give him an estimate on or about Tuesday June 7th, we set up a time to go out on Wednesday June 8th to give him an estimate. When I showed up at his house there were 3 people at the home...

[redacted], his daughter [redacted], and her husband [redacted], we walked around the yard together they showed me what they wanted watered as far as grass and the flowerbed areas, so I measured everything up calculated everything and presented a price to Mr. [redacted] and his family within a half hour. He looked at the estimate, had some questions for me that I answered, he said everything looked good, and asked his daughter and son in law ([redacted], and [redacted]) what they thought, and they said also that it looked good to them but it was up to him to decide what he wanted to do, so he said well it looks good and asked me what do we need to do to proceed, and told him that we require half of the money as a down payment to get on our schedule, and once we get that then we will get all of his parts bought and we would do the work on June 24th. So I had him sign the estimate-invoice, which it states on line #2 " One half of the total is due upon beginning of the project, and IS NON-REFUNDABLE". Then on June 20th I received a voice mail from [redacted] that said that Mr. [redacted] would like to cancel his appointment to do the sprinkler system and that I needed to refund his money by Friday , I told him I am sorry but we do not refund down payments, I told him to go look at the paper Mr. [redacted] had signed on line #2 it says we do not give refunds on down payments, but that I would work with them in any way I could, I first offered to do half the sprinkler system they turned that down, then they asked If I would refund everything but 30%, I told them I would think it over, over the weekend and let them know on Monday June 27th, I contacted my attorney that Friday June 24th and had him write up an agreement for the refund for the 70%  because I thought that would be something I would probably be willing to do, I did not need to refund any of the money, because I had already bought parts, put him on our schedule, and spent a lot of time on his project, but I felt bad for the guy. On Monday June 27th I got to my office and had an E-mail from the Revdex.com that Mr. [redacted] had filed a complaint against my company so I decided to enforce the contract he had signed,  if he is going to bad mouth my company for something he agreed to in a contract then I figured it was in my best interest to enforce the contract that he had signed, I am not out to screw anyone out of money I have been in business for over 16years and my company was built on honesty and integrity, I have learned to not have any grey area when it comes to business, I did not want this to go in this direction but I feel like I am not in the wrong in any way on this matter, and that is where we are at right now, if you have any questions feel free to contact me at ###-###-####. sincerely David N** President Superior Outdoors Inc.

I am rejecting this response because:  as stated this was to be a bid only.  We are not sure why a contract was presented on June 8.  If we receive a refund, we would be happy to replace our negative experience with Superior Outdoor and provide a positive one.
