Tell us why here...04/13/16 *** *** dropped of his Chrysler Sebring 3/24/and after contacting Mr*** he stated “Placing the shifter in reverse position there was no movement but pulling the shifter towards neutral he will feel reverse grab”After initial diagnosis we found a
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) that showed the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) was malfunctioningMr*** approved replacing the TRS and we rechecked transmission operation which revealed no reverse and burned transmission fluidFurther diagnostics revealed low hydraulic pressure in reverse and all other transmission operation appeared normalWorking with AAMCO Technical support it was determined that there was an internal transmission problem and the transmission needed to be removed, disassembled, and inspected(RDI)Mr*** approved the RDI with a base cost of $2,and $if the Torque Converter needed to be replaced, copy of work sheet attached After inspection any hard parts damage would be additional. Internal inspection revealed a low drum damaged and excessive metal which required replacement of the Torque ConverterChecking the electrical solenoids found high resistance on all solenoids as well as the TCC Variable Force Motor and Line Pressure SolenoidMr*** approved the repairs which also included two transmission mounts and the TRS for a total of $2,974.76. After the rebuild and installation all transmission DTC's were corrected but still had no reverse engagementAdditional diagnostics was performed, at no cost to Mr***, with the guidance of the AAMCO Technical support and the following was found. A) Per instruction by the AAMCO Technical support the output shaft speed sensor, transfer shaft speed sensor, and the vehicle speed sensors were monitored with the shifter in reverseNo sensors indicated any forward movement of the vehicleNext each of these sensors was unplugged to eliminate the possibility of any voltage undetectable bleeding through and no change was noted. B) Next the case connector to the transmission was disconnected and a reverse engagement was achieved, although somewhat harsh do to high line pressure caused by disconnection the transmission case connector Finally the feed wires to the 2/shift solenoid were monitored while the shifter was in the reverse position and voltage was noted on that wire which should not have voltage when in the shifter is in the reverse position and no forward movement was occurring Conclusion: The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) was sending a signal through the wire to the 2/shift solenoid which made the PCM believe the vehicle was moving in a forward directionIf the PCM believes that the vehicle is moving in a forward direction it will automatically inhibit reverseThis is a safety feature designed by Chrysler to inhibit a driver engaging the vehicle in reverse while forward movement is occurring. The PCM was replaced and the reverse problem was resolvedThe cost of the $freight charge of $bringing the final total to $3,622.23. *** *** picked up her vehicle and paid in full Wednesday April 13, If the customer is not completely satified with the vehicle they have an month/ 18,mile warrantyPlease advise if further action is required

Mr. [redacted] contacted us in reference to replacing his engine in his 1994 Ford Ranger with a used engine and requested it to have 65,000 miles or less.  I researched the available market and found an engine with 66,000 miles.  Contacting Mr. [redacted] with an estimate to replace his engine,...

clutch, clutch slave cylinder, machine flywheel, repair shifter seat, engine oil change, all labor (which includes customer supplied parts radiator, thermostat, spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor) and tax for $4,933.50.  Mr. [redacted] requested the VIN for the vehicle the engine came out of and wanted to verify the mileage which was his stipulation for approving the job.  I supplied the VIN to Mr. [redacted] at which time he asked what we needed to do to proceed.  I explained to Mr. [redacted] that used parts were a first come first serve basis and in order to insure he would get this engine he had to bring me payment of $1,800 as this was a non-returnable item.  Mr. [redacted] brought me a cashiers check which I verified with Teachers Federal Credit Union and I ordered the used engine 2/16/2016. At this point I produced a hard copy estimate to provide a receipt to Mr. [redacted] and the final total came out to $4,163.74 which was less than my original estimate that I provided over the phone. This is still an estimate as we have yet to inspect the vehicle. Mr. [redacted] towed or pushed his vehicle to our shop on Friday evening 2/19/2016 and returned on Monday 2/22/2016 with his supplied parts.  We received the engine the same day and Mr. [redacted] was given a copy of my invoice which did not show my supplier or my pricing.  This invoice did reflect the VIN that was given to Mr. [redacted] prior to his appro[redacted] and delivery of cashiers check and an inventory tag which came with the engine.  The invoice and inventory tag have corresponding part numbers on them which links the engine to the VIN from the vehicle. Mr. [redacted] then was requesting information about the supplier which I contracted with in the purchase of the engine. We do not give out that information as Mr. [redacted]'s agreement is with me not my supplier.  In an effort to accommodate Mr. [redacted] gave him a copy of the original Invoice from our supplier without the supplier info only to reflect the VIN and Inv. Number to tie back to the mileage. The original invoice was hard to copy so [redacted] asked them for a better copy and they reprinted it and had a different Work Order #. At that point Mr. [redacted] made a comment that was indistinguishable and said he would be in touch in 24 hours. Mr. [redacted] is aware that this is a used non-refundable engine. Due to the strained relationship Mr. [redacted] appears to have at this time we do not wish to continue with the repairs on his vehicle. I am willing to supply Mr. [redacted] with the vendors name so that he can have his warranty on the engine. I will return all parts Mr. [redacted] has supplied for installation and Mr. [redacted] will only owe the tax on the $1,800 engine which is $148.50. If this is not agreeable to Mr. [redacted] I would request proceeding directly to mediation. [redacted] AAMCO Transmission & Total Car Care 3270 Eastex Fwy Beaumont, Texas 77703 409-899-2001
