Superior Retreading Service Reviews (1)

Review: Bought some defective wheels from SRS Tire (seller) that were advertised to be in good condition. Contacted seller about this and he agreed to issue a refund for my original purchase price + shipping. Seller also agreed to send a refund check in the mail for my return shipping costs, once he received them back. I have the email seller sent as documentation. On May 18, 2014 I notified Seller that the wheels had been shipped and that the cost was $118.24. Once seller received the wheels back, he called and said nothing was wrong with the wheels and he wouldn't refund my return shipping costs. After re-describing the problems to seller, he offered to refund half of my $. I said: I'm in no hurry, please think about it a little more and call me back in a week or so. That's been several weeks ago. I have emailed in the meantime and have heard nothing back.Desired Settlement: Full refund of my return shipping costs as agreed. $118.24

Response:

Below is our response to consumer complaint ID #[redacted]:

The customer asked to return the wheels to us, claiming his center caps would not fit and also

stating that there was rust around where the center caps fit. We refunded the original cost of the

wheels and the shipping cost to the customer.

After receiving the wheels back, we did not find any rust, and we trial fit them on a Ford F250

and found no problem with center caps fitting the wheels properly.

The wheels were originally advertised to fit a Ford F250. After the customer returned the

wheels, his correspondence to us referred to an attempt to fit them on a Ford F150, which would

use a different lug nut and center cap.

Therefore, since the wheels were not defective and were correctly advertised, we do not feel we

owe return shipping costs to the customer.

Sincerely

Richard Eggleton

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First, by principle alone. Mr. Eggleton said he would mail a check to reimburse shipping as soon as he got the wheels back. (That was the email I originally attached.) Then after reneging on that, he said on a phone call that he'd refund $75. Any business owner with any amount of integrity stands by their word.

Second, Mr. Eggleton is misrepresenting the details of our communications. The wheels are chrome-clad, which is basically a chrome hubcap glued to the steel wheel underneath. The cladding was separating from the wheels to the point that the center caps couldn't go in far enough to snap onto the lug nuts. Mr. Eggleton even acknowledged seeing that problem on one of the wheels after he received them back- the cladding was detached from the wheel to the point of sticking out past the lip of the steel wheel underneath. I even called a couple local wheel repair shops about this issue, they knew what I was talking about and said they couldn't repair these wheels. As far as the rust he mentioned, I said in my email that it looked like the steel wheel underneath the cladding was rusting. I never said anything about rusting where the center caps fit, as he stated. I have all my emails if we want to start documenting exactly what was said.

Third, a response Mr. Eggleton's comment about "the wheels were originally advertised to fit a Ford F250." These 7-lug wheels were used on the 97-99 F250 pickup, non super duty. They were also used on the 2000-2004 F150 7700 series which is a 3/4 ton chassis and the same truck as the the 97-99 F250. Same 7 stud hubs, same lug nuts, same center caps. So the wheels are the same, there is no issue here, and I think Mr. Eggleton knows this considering he is the owner of a tire shop and does this as his everyday business.

In conclusion, Mr. Eggleton overlooked the condition of his wheels before advertising them as being in good condition. I bought them in reliance on his professional opinion stating such. They were not correctly advertised as he says they were. I should not be out any expense due to his lack of proper inspection and incorrect advertising. I'm not sure why as a business owner he is haggling over such a small dollar amount, but as a compromise I am willing to accept the partial refund of $75 that he mentioned in our phone conversation.

Response:

The following is my response to complaint ID [redacted].

The original complaint from the customer was rust around the centers of the wheels the kept the hub

caps from fitting, There is no rust on these wheels anywhere.

The wheels were advertised to fit a Ford F250. All of our books and references show that the Ford F150

used a tapered lug nut where the Ford F250 used a flange nut and different center caps fitting the

different style lug nuts.

Sincerely,

Richard Eggleton

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Mr. Eggleton is being totally dishonest and trying to muddy the waters with inaccurate technical information about wheels & lug nuts.Again, the 1999 F250 pickup and 2000-2004 F150 "7700 SERIES" pickup are one in the same. Both are 3/4 ton pickups with the same 7-lug wheels, center caps, and lug nuts. Of all the people who should know this, it should be someone who is in the business of wheels & tires.I would like to redirect the focus back to the fact that Mr. Eggleton promised to refund shipping as soon as he received the wheels back. And did not.He then said he'd refund part of the shipping. And did not.
