This morning we had a tornado pass through the street of our home It downed a huge tree, smaller trees, and a utility pole Luckily, all houses escaped severe damage However, there were wires on the street on both sides of our home and we were boxed in, we could not even drive out And given the downed pole, I was expecting loss of power for several days Amazingly, GRU replaced the pole and restored power in less than hours And there was bad weather through most of the day This is OUTSTANDING service Thanks GRU

Gru is without a doubt the worst utility company I've ever had to deal withUnfortunately in Gainesville, Fl you have to use Gru, there are no other alternative options because if there were I would never give them my businessMy roommate established our service and no one informed him of the policies or procedures that are in place for bill payment or late fees or security deposits so we were at the liberty of what they charged usWhen we were days late on our bill, we paid the bill and then the day after they shut off our service and made us pay $to have someone come out to turn it back on plus a late fee even though we'd paid the billWhen I tried to call to enroll in autopay I was told I'd be called back within an hour, when I never received a call back, I called again and the machine told me they were too busy to take my call and to call back laterAfter calling repeatedly for an hour I finally got put on a waiting list to speak with someone and waited over an hour before being connectedWhen I tried to enroll in autopay to waive the security deposit I was told I was too late and that it had to be done within days of starting service even though no one informed us of thatThen when I asked if I could get anything for enrolling now the customer service representative told me "I can't explain it any clearer and if you aren't capable of understanding that there's nothing I can do to help you." She wouldn't connect me with a supervisor but instead made me wait an additional minutes before saying she spoke to the supervisor for me and they settled that they'd waive the $delinquent trip charge for the power they wrongfully turned off as a courtesy waiver but that there is nothing else they can doThey are a terrible business and if you're considering moving to Gainesville DON'T specifically because the Gru service is horrible and because they are a monopoly there is nothing you can do other than pay what they tell you or they cut off your power and you'll have to listen to their condescending customer service representatives who don't give you the information you need instead they give you sassIf there was a way to rate lower on these scales I would

Someone apparently opened an account in my name with Gainesville Regional Utilities in May I just discovered this on my credit report on 3/6/ Police reports have been filed and disputes have been made with the credit bureausI did not live at the service addresses (I've been given two alleged service addresses, SW 7th ave and nw 36th dr in gainesville FL, neither of which I have EVER lived at) I do not know who opened these accounts, but it's up to law enforcement to find that out, NOT ME The criminal who opened this account in my name didn't even spell my name right, adding a 'u' where there is none GRU needs to provide the proof of ID they certainly must require when opening an account, because surely the criminal never provided a picture ID or any other documents to prove they were 'me' I demand to see the proof of ID for the person who opened this account in my name Additionally I require that GRU contact the credit agencies and notify them (as I hav

My hubs and and I have lived here for monthsWe moved from TampaWe owned a sq foot town home and our electric bill, at its highest was $We like in an apartment that is less than sq ft and our electric ever single month is over $We are rarely home bc of how much we workAnd when we are home we use candles more than lightsThe A/C is only ever turned down from degrees when we go to bed and we gradually turn it down to over the course of or hoursDONT EVER MOVE TO GAINESVILLE, FL!
