[redacted] had come to my shop, Sure Shift Transmissions The job he hired us to do was to turn his Jeep Cherokee into an "off road mud toy." Which would consist of taking out the transmission which was an automatic, and converting the Jeep into a manual We quoted him $to do the job which included: fabricating a clutch pedal changing and adopting a cross member, sending his two driveshafts out for one to be lengthened, and one to be shortened, by [redacted] of Elmira The problems began about half way through the job, the customer contacted us stating that they now wanted the Jeep to be road legal, and NYS inspected Problem with that being, when changing an automatic transmission with a manual transmission, the wiring harness will not match plug for plug and the ECM has to be compatible for a manual transmission I have gone above and beyond, trying to get this vehicle to pass the NYS inspection We have attempted to get different ECM's to compute with the Jeep, but have been unsuccessful The original quote of $did not include making this inspectable by altering the wiring harness and ECM My business has done their best to attempt to make this Jeep road worthy and proper at no extra cost to the customer At this point I feel that we have held up or end of this agreement as well as work We didn't agree to when quoting this job

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]In the response from the business, the owner states that the problem arose due to us asking to have the vehicle made street legalWhile we did ask for the additional service and told the owner we would pay, this is not the reason for our complaintLast summer we were told that the vehicle was all done except for the fact that one of the warning lights was onThats is when we were told about the ECMAt one point we decided that we had been without the vehichle long enough and we would go get it and take care of the ECM and inspection ourselvesWhen we went to pick the Jeep up we made it less than a mile away before it started to act up and spit and sputter (the situation we mentioned in the original complaint)The fact is that the vehicle is not drivable even as a made toy which was our original agreement Regards, [redacted] ***

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have read through the businesses response and do not believe that providing the items listed will make the Jeep run correctlyThis is due to the fact that I had several conversations with the owner over the phone about the skipping/stuttering issue that the vehicle was having and I was told that he couldn't figure it outI was told that he had hooked it up to his diagnostic machine and there was an issue with "the number cylinder"He even mentioned that he tore everything apart and still couldn't figure it outNear the end of our communications before filing this complaint he even suggested finding a new engine. While I understand that things such as wires etcdeteriorate, this would not have been an issue if the vehicle had been completed in a timely manner

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]In the response from the business, the owner states that the problem arose due to us asking to have the vehicle made street legal. While we did ask for the additional service and told the owner we would pay, this is not the reason for our complaint. Last summer we were told that the vehicle was all done except for the fact that one of the warning lights was on. Thats is when we were told about the ECM. At one point we decided that we had been without the vehichle long enough and we would go get it and take care of the ECM and inspection ourselves. When we went to pick the Jeep up we made it less than a mile away before it started to act up and spit and sputter (the situation we mentioned in the original complaint). The fact is that the vehicle is not drivable even as a made toy which was our original agreement.

[redacted] had come to my shop, Sure Shift Transmissions.  The job he hired us to do was to turn his 1996 Jeep Cherokee into an "off road mud toy." Which would consist of taking out the transmission which was an automatic, and converting the Jeep into a manual.  We quoted him...

$1900.00 to do the job which included:  fabricating a clutch pedal changing and adopting a cross member, sending his two driveshafts out for one to be lengthened, and one to be shortened, by [redacted] of Elmira.  The problems began about half way through the job, the customer contacted us stating that they now wanted the Jeep to be road legal, and NYS inspected.  Problem with that being, when changing an automatic transmission with a manual transmission, the wiring harness will not match plug for plug and the ECM has to be compatible for a manual transmission.  I have gone above and beyond, trying to get this vehicle to pass the NYS inspection.  We have attempted to get different ECM's to compute with the Jeep, but have been unsuccessful.  The original quote of $1900.00 did not include making this inspectable by altering the wiring harness and ECM.  My business has done their best to attempt to make this Jeep road worthy and proper at no extra cost to the customer.  At this point I feel that we have held up or end of this agreement as well as work.  We didn't agree to when quoting this job.
