Review: 66.98 was taken off of my debit card without authorization and I was told by an employee on the phone they had no way to reverse the charges.

Review: There is a champagne on rings and earrings. They had charged my account with this purchase. I have called and talked with a living person to cancel this charge. I have gotten no response from Holsted Marketing who claims they are a jeweler. They are not! They have misrepresented themselves and taken it upon themselves to randomly charge three charges to my Catherines account. I spend a lot of money with Catherines. I will close my account if this is not corrected immediatelyDesired Settlement: I hope that the general public will be aware that there are these Marketing firms out there who try to pull a fast one on stupid, unaware citizens- people who pay no attention to their statement each month. I am not in that capacity to simply pay the amount without checking all my purchases. I wish I were! This is a scam and I will not tolerate them thinking they can just apply a charge without my approval!

This is in response to your letter dated 05/**/13. Before addressing your specific complaint, we would like to bring the following facts to your attention.

Holsted Marketing (doing business as Holsted Jewelers) has been in business for over 40 years, serving millions of satisfied customers. We fully disclose all terms of the program prior to placing a Holsted Jewelers order. Orders are placed either with a written order form in which terms are clearly stated above the customer’s signature acknowledging and accepting these terms, or are called in to a toll-free number , and in which all terms are clearly stated to the customer prior to the customer accepting the offer.

With the first shipment, and each subsequent shipment thereafter, you received a letter from us which completely restated the terms of the program and includes the statement: “If you are not totally satisfied with your purchase, simply return it within 30 days for a replacement or credit refund of the merchandise price”. As is the case with virtually all mail and telephone order companies, Holsted readily refunds the merchandise cost to the consumers, and when customers request it, we also refund all of the shipping and handling charges associated with their order. We provide a Customer Service Card in every shipment that includes a pre-printed return label, and a cancellation notification to stop all future shipments. Our phone number is provided on your credit card statements so that our customer service representatives can readily help with a question regarding any charge on your statement.

We trust the above reassures you that Holsted Jewelers makes every effort to service and satisfy our customers. Regarding the complaint you sent us, our records show the following:

We received a call from you to our Customer Service Department on 05/**/13 saying you did not place any order. The Representative explained that our records indicate that we received a phone order for two free rings and matching earrings as well as another jewelry set which were all mailed to your address 05/**/13. She advised for you to refuse the packages and she issued full refund for all the items amounting to $145.66. You were also cancelled from the service at that time and removed from our mailing lists.

As of today, 06/**/13, there will be no further items or bills sent out to your address per your request, and because of the inconvenience, as stated above, you have been credited in full on your Catherine’s account for any charges made by Holsted Jewelers in May 2013. These credits reflect the two original charges of $47.48 and one charge of $50.70; making a total credited amount of $145.66.
