Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to Ms. [redacted] concerns. Our investigation revealed that the Pt paid $150.00 at time of service and was under the impression she paid the amount in full. She received a bill in the...
amount of $39.60 which is the remaining balance after the 40% discount. Pt was refusing to pay $39.60. Pt was adamant the information she received was $150.00 was the total cost which she already paid at time of service. Pt states she confirmed 3x and was given the same response of $150.00 is total cost.
Documentation in appt notes states " We do not take patient's insurance plan- she is self-pay at the visit and aware of the cost. 1/29/15-NB". While there was clear documentation that she was aware of the charges, we could not find appropriate documentation on file with her signature to reflect her understanding, so the charges were removed.
