Review: My confirmation letter dated in June 6, 2015 - reserved a cottage for Thursday August 13 thru Sunday August 16, 2015 with the deposit amount in receipt of the confirmation letter. We arrived at the cottage on Thursday August 13, 2015 with the understanding that we would provide our own food and personal items for the next three nights four days. The front door would be open and the key would be on the table. The manager did not arrive to greet us until Friday August 14, 2015 to pick up the balance. She arrived informing us that the balance was to much and she would not accept the money and also there was an error in the letter. Her secretary had made a mistake in the letter and that we had to be out of the cottage by 12 noon, Saturday - August 15, 2015 because she had other guests arriving at 3 pm. for a week stay. We were absolutely shocked, hurt and angry. She said she would resolve this by making reservations at a local hotel to accommodate THEIR mistake and THEIR company would pick up the cost. However, she called me back in a half hour to inform me that the [redacted] had rooms priced at $224 - she informed me that she would NOT pay for our stay at the [redacted]. Because she knew that I had the balance in my wallet for her cottage. What nerve? In my opinion, Swanson Resort Cottages were a big disappointment with their professionalism in doing business. Why did she not read the letter before it was mailed out to me? I spoke with her on Tuesday August 11, 2015 to confirm internet and air conditioning in the cottage - did she not read/see the mistake in the letter BEFORE we arrived? Why did they refuse to pay for the [redacted] when it was THEIR mistake not mine? I will NEVER recommend these cottages to anyone! OR did the neighbors not like to see any African American people staying next door or across the street from them? WHY? We are a hard working good natured middle class family who own homes and vehicles and we deserve a VACATION! What in the WORLD is really going on?Desired Settlement: Contact Swanson Resort Area Cottages and send me my $200 deposit back. I did my part in reserving the cottages and we were PUT OUT! Unbelievable how a company can treat such kind, honest, hard working, God-fearing people.
