Sweet and Smile Massage Reviews (2)

I set up a one hour massage appointment (by phone) at Sweet & Smile Massage in San Francisco. The address is [redacted] ***I have previously had massages perhaps about other times and they were decentI do recall now, one incident in the past, that resembled the complaint I will give a summary of, but at that time, I dismissed it, thinking it was a misunderstandingNow, after the second time, which was quite blatant, I know it's a sometimes practice that is happening at this particular massage businessBefore my massage, I offered to pay (usually I pay after the massage)The young girl at the desk said ok and processed my one hour massage payment (via credit card)I did not tip at that time, because I wanted to wait and see if the massage deserved a tipI almost always leave a $tip after my massages thereAfter the massage was over with a massage therapist name [redacted] (**, I think is her last name, as I saw on the company's facebook page), which was good, I walked over to the front desk girl to leave a $tipI handed the money to the girl at the desk and explained this was my tip for ***The girl looked at me with this confused type of lookI didn't say anythingThen she said, 'can you leave more than $for the tip'? I asked, 'where does it say here that I have to do that'? She said, 'it doesn't, but $or $is what people usually leave for a one hour massage'I asked again, 'please show me in your policy where this is and I would like information on how to contact the ownerDo you have their phone number'? She said no and pointed to the business card that had a phone number ( [redacted] ) with an email: [redacted] I left an email and a facebook message on their facebook page, but no one repliedAs [redacted] walked by, the girl then said something to her in mandarin or cantonese (I assume) and gave her the $bill [redacted] stopped, took the bill, looked at it, then looked at me, then kept walkingNo thank youNo nothingThis is the company website; [redacted] Clearly, my impression was this practice of trying to intimidate customers into leaving bigger tips is happening quite consistentlyThe girl at the desk spoke decent english, so there is no cultural misunderstanding thereAs a result, I will never return there again
