After terminating service over the phone several times because because the first time didn't take - several more bills kept coming inAfter clearing up that the account was closed - they demanded a huge termination fee which was paidAfter the termination fee they started demanding more money saying there were adjustments - whatever that means and immediately sent this hidden made up fee to a collection agencyIncompetent vultures who will tell you what you want to hear over the phone and then turn around and gouge youMediacom service is not poor - its criminal

I transferred my service from one apt to another and then my bill was over $of which it took them two weeks and two separate appointments to accomplish the next month after repeatedly calling them to inquire why it was that much they couldn't answer! I finally got someone who could tell me they charge two months even for transferring service and then my services went up to max price!! Now they turned off my service and will not do anything until I pay the full bill?? That is customer service for you??

This is a bad company to deal with I have caught them deliberately lying to me and I was able to prove it to them
This past winter, I requested two changes in my Mediacom service I wanted to upgrade my internet speed and I wanted them to drop several channels from my lineup to lower my cable bill The higher internet speed would require a new cable modem which I rent from Mediacom and dropping the unwanted channels would require them to climb the pole in my backyard
I made the appointment and they said that I needed to be home between AM and noon on the appointed day to receive my new modem and allow them to install the filter to block the unwanted channels I took the morning off work and waited for them and they of course did not show up I called to complain and Mediacom told me that the installer had came to my house and had climbed the pole to remove the channels but didn't bother to knock on the door
I asked them why he didn't bring me my new modem like they said he would and, more interestingly, why did I still have all the same channels that I did before and why didn't I see a single footprint anywhere in the inches of snow that fell the night before in my backyard around the pole?
I caught them in an undeniable lie and I had to drive miles each way to get my new cable modem Since I caught them red handed lying to me, I did get discounted cable service for a while, but this is not how a reputable business should be run I received the unwanted channels for about months after I called them so I'm assuming that they finally got around to climbing that pole
If you have any other options available, I highly recommend looking into them before giving Mediacom your business

Mediacom is the worst internet service I have ever hadI moved to the Des Moines area from StLouis where I had *** and it's a night a day differenceI was an *** customer for years (even had their smallest package) and only had problems once which *** resolved very quicklyI have had nothing but problems with MediacomI've been a Mediacom customer for about a year and a half and have experienced extreme slowness (I even upgraded to their Prime Plus package which supposedly has faster download speed) and complete loss of connection at least once a week (sometimes several times a week)Every time I contact Mediacom they say that they can't see any problems with my connectionI wish *** provided *** in this area because I would switch in a heartbeat

I had Qwest Internet for yearsThey got bought out by CenturylinkNever had a single problem with either company in regards to my InternetInreceived a call from Mediacom and they assured me my internet speeds would be significantly faster with their InternetThey talked me into doing a bundle with cable, Internet and phoneI've had their Internet for days nowI HAVE BEEN ABLE TO USE MY INTERNET FOR OF THOSE DAYSAfter spending hours on the phone with them (in separate calls), they decided it must be a bad modem That diagnosis was on a TuesdayThey said the soonest they could get a tech out was late Friday afternoonA tech came out and swapped out the modemThey Internet worked for three daysAfter that, we were having to reset (unplug it and wait minutes) it 3-times per dayI them two more times and spent another hours on the phone as they were trying to "troubleshoot" it againI demanded that a techician come out and they said the earliest they can have one out is Wednesday!!!! I am giving them one more chance and then I am going back to CenturylinkAgain-- if your Internet is working, DO NOT CHANGE TO MEDIACOM!!!!!!!!

Mediacom [redacted] I hope I never have to do business with them again. They sent out a bum from Broadband installations who left a mess. Nothing worked. If they come to your door LOCK IT. Then Mediacom said it would be two weeks before they would be coming out to fix anything. I put all their equipment back in the boxes. Called Century link and Directv. They had me hooked up in a few days. Mediacom is so big they just don't care.
I could go on but I think you get the point.

I transferred my service from one apt to another and then my bill was over $400.00 of which it took them two weeks and two separate appointments to accomplish the next month after repeatedly calling them to inquire why it was that much they couldn't answer! I finally got someone who could tell me they charge two months even for transferring service and then my services went up to max price!! We've had Mediacom for five years now. Its been five years too many. We have very weak internet service and it goes out everyday multiple times a day. The cable is poor qua and very expensive. The sales reps are awful and so rude! Additionally, when you call the helpline its an automated voice that wastes about 40 mins of your time then they can never seem to get a service rep out for at least 5 days. We pay $200 every month for phone Internet and cable and none of then ever work. It is so inconvenient and a giant waste of money. My advise: switch to dish.
