Sweet Home Improvements Inc Reviews (14)

We have used Sweet Home Improvements on two separate occasions and found them to be a great company to work withI am surprised to read other reviews that are negativeThe first project we used MrK** for was a large two story addition and front porchAnyone who has done any large additions knows there will be delays, setbacks and challengesMost of the delays were caused by material orders or the county requesting additional engineering specs, which MrK** paid for without even questioningOne delay was a door that he ordered the wrong color, when we saw it he apologized and ordered a new one that took weeks to come inEveryone can make mistakes but when he did he owned it and corrected itThe second project was much smaller, electric, insulation and sheetrock for a large roomWhen we contracted he said it would take two weeks, instead they finished in one, even coming on Sunday for the last minute punch list itemsThe first project took a total of months, the second one week, with that much time we got to know MrK*** his wife and sonThey are hard working honest people that take pride in their workSometimes there is miscommunication between people, but he is a man of his wordI would highly recommend him to anyone

regarding complaint #***
Our company, Sweet Home Improvements is willing to accept reasonable complaints from customersAs a company, we try our best to meet customer's needsHowever, it is a complete different story when it involves violence and humiliationIt is true that we were very apologetic when there were complaints on *** and Revdex.com with intention to resolve the problemHowever, the home owner showed no intention to resolving the problem even though it was the contractor who was humiliated, phsically abused made an attempt to apologizeThis is when our company decided to take actionHow does being apologetic at first and reaching a point where the company has to take action make our company hypocritical? The daughter of the home owner wrote negative reviews on *** and Revdex.comHowever, she was not present at the time when the home owner (her father) was being violent against the contractorWe can certainly claim that the home owner was heavily drunk when the violence occured
Please note that,
- The home owner's daughter was not present when the violence occured
- The home owner was clearly drunk at the time of the violence
- The contractor and his wife were humiliated by the home owner- The home owner pointed his fingers at the contractor's wife and yelled at her
- The home owner pushed the contractor and locked him inside the house when the contractor was trying to leave
- The customer refused to pay when there was power outage that has happend in the whole neighborhood even though it was confirmed that power outage was not related to our work
-On top of physical violence and humiliation, customer's daughter wrote negative reviews in which accuracy was not guaranteed because she was not present at the time of the incident.
We hope to provide customers with great experienceHowever, this case was a very unusual case that involved crime. The reason why our company is actively responding specifically to this customer, (home owner and his daughter), is because we highly believe physical abuse and humiliation are both unacceptable behaviorsThis response is not just written out of personal emotion, but with intention to prevent future violenceWe sincerely hope the home owner does not treat other businesses like he treated our company
Sincerely,
Sweethome Improvements

I am rejecting this response because:
MrK** of Sweet Home Improvements Inchas not returned the deposit, as promised by him, in the agreed amount of $8,012.00. Also, the "three months", as stated by MrK** (which we know nothing about), has past. The contract was signed on April 9th, and as of August 19th, "days later" MrK** still has not returned the outstanding deposit amountAs MrK** has repeatedly stated, he will return the deposit, however, as of today he has not made any effort to do so. Since everyone is in agreement that Sweet Home Improvement will return the remaining balance of the deposit and more than the three (3) months has past, then, MrK** should issue the certified check for the return of the deposit as soon as possibleAs we stated in our last reply, if MrKoo would send us a certified check for the amount of $8,(the $10,deposit minus the $1,for the sub-contracting work), we would consider this matter closeAgain, thank you for your assistance with this contract issue

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: There have been false accusations laid upon us as the client. We were at our own home in the middle of dinner and if having one beer during dinner at our own leisure is going to lead us into being accused of being "heavily drunk" and doing things that never happened, we have no words or desire to try to argue against the company. This response alone from Sweethome improvements shows that the company is absoluely  unprofessional and cannot be trusted.
I would also like to state that this response is extremely hypocritical compared to the other emails and texts of apologies were being sent to us. All of those times we received apologies from the company, it was with the request of us taking down our review from the Revdex.com. If screenshots of these emails and texts need to be posted on this website in order for the company to stop responding in an unprofessional manner, I will gladly do so.
What we asked for was an apology. We thought we received it during all the times we received your phone calls, emails, and texts. This response however, sent through the Revdex.com, was not a resolution.
Going forward we ask that all communication be done through Revdex.com. We do not welcome your calls or texts.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. The response is unsatisfactory HOWEVER we desire to close this case due to unreasonable responses we are receiving from the company and their false accusations toward me as the reviewer and client. I feel harassed and I no longer want to interact with the company and hear out false accusations towards the reviewer.
I am rejecting their response because:
If indeed violence was present, the company should have pressed charges immediately on the spot when the police was called. We the homeowners called the police that day to resolve the issue. There was no pressed charges by the company at the present time even when opportunity was given.
Our family was having dinner and drinks at the leisure of our own home during a Friday night. We had full rights to be at our own house to be having drinks. It should not be an open opportunity for the company to falsely accuse of anyone being "heavily drunk". No one was drunk at the time, and even if we as the client were drunk and being violent as we were accused, we would not have been the ones to call the police. As stated in Number1, the company had the full opportunity to press charges if there was any violence present.
Such accusations of violence and drunkenness are now and ONLY being stated by the company as a defense of their unethical actions.
As a consumer we hold full rights to openly share our experience to the public. To submit a review and a complaint to Revdex.com is a practice of the freedom of expression whether it may be good or bad. To accuse of a bad review and experience to be humiliation is inappropriate and unprofessional.
There was NO refusal of payment whatsoever and all payments were sent immediately upon confirming that all of the work was finished and working. For a client to hold off on final payment until they are able to see if all the electrical outlets and electrical functions were working is not a refusal of payment. It is also the clients full right to want to make sure that all construction done was functional before making the final payment. Whether the power outage was related to the company or not, the fact is that there was no way to confirm that the work was completed and everything was properly functioning without the electricity. We do not accept the company's accusation of refusal of payment to be valid.
We no longer want to interact with the company because they do not want a peaceful resolution.

to reject this complaint. First of all, our company could not agree on the price. We thought the price was too high and tried to negotiate the price. However, negotiation was not made. We still think that price can go a little lower. We are still looking for a price negotiation with this company. If the price is right for us, there is no reason not to pay them. Secondly, the company that wrote this complaint was not our customer. This issue was between the two companies rather than a customer and a company. We believe that it is more proper for debt collecting company to take care of this kind of matter than Revdex.com. Response:

Company indicated it had been in touch with complainant and expected settlement by the 15th.

Review: On the last day of construction, during the middle of the process there was a minor power outage in our neighborhood. Because of this, although all of the construction was supposed to have been finished, we were unable to check to see if parts of the bar were finished since there was no electricity. At the time, because we were unable to fully see that the construction was completed to satisfaction and the contract agreed that last payment would be upon completion of the work at a satisfactory state, we told the contractor that we would issue the last payment next week—which was the next business day. At this point, my mom saw the contractor give a look to his wife who was there to just “watch” as he worked on the bar and the contractor seemed to have put his phone in recording mode, with his hand in his pocket. This is when the shady, manipulative, and conniving acts begin from this business owner.

He starts telling my dad that he better pay him today because his job is finished and that the contract said he should receive payment immediately after the job is finished. He then starts accusing my dad of cheating him of money. My dad, who started to get upset, started speaking more and more firmly to the contractor who kept demanding money immediately. The contractor started raising his voice, which then led to my dad raising his voice. Out of NO WHERE the contractor then starts screaming, “Why are you threatening my wife?? Why are you being violent against her?.” Then the wife started CRYING ON CUE as the contractor starts screaming again “We just want our payment, is this how you end up ripping people off? By being violent and making people be afraid so you don’t have to pay them?” – Mind you at this point, my dad is going NUTS because he didn’t do anything but now he’s getting EXTREMELY ANGRY because we realize this is ALL for the purpose of this man’s recording.

We asked him “why are you recording this?” and he turns to us and says, “I’m not recording anything.” By this point, I realize that he is recording this conversation—this conversation which he is LEADING and MANIPULATING to make it sound like my dad had been doing something…. So I stood by the door trying to make sure he does not run off with the recording, which is ALL made up. When he sees that I closed the door, he then screams directing at my dad “Are you trying to trap me in this house now? On top of you being violent?!.” He then continues to scream nasty things to my dad who is increasingly getting angry because of the way this man is being conniving. The man says “don’t try to cheat people of their money after using their services, you are such a violent man how dare you threaten my wife, I will report you and we will settle this lawfully”, He pushes us all off and runs into his car.

This is when I decided I have had enough so I run outside, stand behind his car, and call 911. I told him “if you want to settle this lawfully, we will do it in front of an officer.” As SOON as I make the call for a police officer, his facial expression COMPLETELY changed and he gets out of the car and starts to plead with us. He first says 1. I have no such recording of you guys. Then when we said that we saw him… he then says 2. If I delete the recordings, will you just give me my money? We told him, show me your phone and we will delete the recordings first. He responds with 3. I don’t know how to delete anything on my phone sorry. In response to all this word play, I decided told him ok then, we will talk when the cops come. He then repeats again 4. I will delete all the recordings if you pay me now.

We again refuse to pay immediately today because PER CONTRACT, we have not yet seen if the bar was fully functioning. We would only be able to see once the electricity was back on in our house. He later comes to me and then says that he would show me his phone and that I can delete the recordings. On his phone I find NOT ONLY the conversations that happened in the house where he was making up this elaborate story of my dad so called being “violent” toward his wife and making it seem like he is refusing payment… but he also had back ups, copies, and on top parts of conversation that I had with him while I was telling him that I would call the police. I deleted ALL of it and told him we need to stay til the police come. By this point, this contractor completely stopped his claims of my dad’s violence but rather starts to say, “lets quietly take our separate paths… please just send us the money because we need it”…with NO acknowledgement that he was trying to somehow frame my dad into a violent client who refuses payment. The cops show up, and make us separate paths.

As per contract, we plan to send payment as soon as we check to see the bar is fully functioning. HOWEVER such ways of trying to receive payment before fully ensuring that construction has been completed to satisfaction and also trying to use manipulating ways to frame clients into paying sooner is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. I cannot believe such business practices even occur and such unethical behavior should NOT be allowed or encouraged.Desired Settlement: I would like a formal verbal and written sincere apology addressing the unethical manner in which the business owner tried to record false information against us as the client.

This is a very unusual case. The home onwer was very drunk and yelled and pushed the contractor. Collecting money from this customer was very difficult and it took the contractor humiliation and disrespect to get the check. Below is the detailed reply directly to the customer. We have carefully read your review. It is fortunate to openly discuss the issue. There are three things that you talked about that we would like to dispute. LET’S GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT. First of all, we did see the stain on the stairway and we reminded you that the stain did not come from the contractor during the walk-through. The stain did NOT belong to the contractor and you have CONFIRMED. We vacuumed the whole basement and all clean up was done. Secondly, there was originally supposed to be only ONE pendant light($150) but the homeowner wanted three separate pendant lights and We had to pay around $320. we did use $150 light fixtures. We have the model number and receipt. We can CONFIDENTLY provide undeniable proof. Also, if the homeowner was not satisfied, he would not have given the due amount if he was not satisfied. Lastly, when the payment was due, there was no appropriate reason for the homeowner to not pay the due amount. There was a power outage which had NOTHING to do with our company. The home owner went around the neighbor to check and told the contractor there was power outage in the whole neighbor. This means that the homeowner has confirmed that it was not contractor's fault. The walk-through was done with home owner's wife and she said it was "beautiful". When the contractor asked for balance due, the home owner's wife asked the contractor if she can pay on Monday. The contractor politely declined. The home owner's wife said she was going to ask his husband (home owner). After a moment, the home owner and his brother, sister-in-law and daughter came down. When the contractor asked for the payment once again the homeowner completely changed his facial expression and said that he cannot pay. When the contractor asked again, the home owner raised his voice at the contractor. At this point, the home owner reeked with alcohol smell. He was HEAVILY DRUNK. After few times of asking for the payment, the home owner started to insult the contractor and his wife. The contractor's wife was there with the contractor at this time. The home owner insulted contractor and his wife and pointed his finger at the contractor's wife. When the contractor told him to stop, the home owner pushed the contractor. When the contractor said he is going to call the police, the home owner looked flustered and he suddenly SLAPPED HIMSELF to make it look like the contractor slapped him. At this point, the contractor knew that the home owner was so drunk and it was IMPOSSIBLE TO COMMUNICATE so the contractor just decided to leave. This is when the home owner got in his way and locked the door. LET US BREAK IT DOWN FOR OTHER PEOPLE WHO WILL SEE THIS REVIEW 1) A DRUNKEN CUSTOMER REFUSED TO PAY FOR NO PROPER REASON ( we have to politely wait until you guys figure out something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH US? Yes, it had been verified that it was not our fault) 2) The home owner yelled and PUSHED the contractor. Also LOCKED IN the contractor inside the house. 3) The home owner slapped HIMSELF and accused the contractor for slapping him. 4) The contractor had trouble collecting the money, was physically and verbally humiliated.

We have used Sweet Home Improvements on two separate occasions and found them to be a great company to work with. I am surprised to read other reviews that are negative. The first project we used Mr. K** for was a large two story addition and front porch. Anyone who has done any large additions knows there will be delays, setbacks and challenges. Most of the delays were caused by material orders or the county requesting additional engineering specs, which Mr. K** paid for without even questioning. One delay was a door that he ordered the wrong color, when we saw it he apologized and ordered a new one that took 8 weeks to come in. Everyone can make mistakes but when he did he owned it and corrected it. The second project was much smaller, electric, insulation and sheetrock for a large room. When we contracted he said it would take two weeks, instead they finished in one, even coming on Sunday for the last minute punch list items. The first project took a total of 7 months, the second one week, with that much time we got to know Mr. K[redacted] his wife and son. They are hard working honest people that take pride in their work. Sometimes there is miscommunication between people, but he is a man of his word. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
