Swift should be your last choice for a training schoolI attended the classroom and range training where I learned about per-trip inspection, maintaining a log, trip planning, and performed all backing maneuversIt was decent at best and lasted weeksThe class and backing range instructors are slim to noneA class of 40-students will have instructors so students teach themselvesThe learning environment is very poor because there is basically no instructionDefinitely no one on one At AllI passed all my evaluations on the range and was sent home, keep in mind I was never taught how to drive the truck or switch gears at allAfter weeks at home I was bussed back to finally start on the road trainingIt was one hour a day Monday, one hour on Tuesday and a final exam on WedThe instructor Wayne P*** was unprofessional, rude and impatientThis school expects you to learn to drive this truck during a crash course of hoursIt's not possible for an untrained individual who has never driven a tractor trailerOn day one of road training I was instructed to pull on to the shoulder of a busy interstate and practice up shifting and downshifting while vehicles passed by driving 65-90mph This was extremely unsafe and put many lives at riskThat lasted for one hour and my time and turn was over and the next student entered the seatThis next student completed his classroom and backing range training several weeks prior and was home for weeks until beginning his training on this day ( to put things in perspective)He was given one hour to learn up shifting and downshifting while swerving in the shoulder of the interstate at time entering lanes of oncoming traffic for :seconds at a timeLife threatening and impending trafficThis was all under the instructors demandsOn Tuesday day began when I was instructed to make several turns in busy downtown Memphis I barely grasped how to shift gears and downshift at this time I had exactly one hour of horrible training and no real practice at allNow I was in a city with numerous traffic lights and instructed to make all shifts and down shifts perfect while making turns HorribleEvery student was hitting curbs and grinding gearsThe truck was all over the road and stalling constantlyAfter this two hour crash course Wedsnday brought on evaluations of road skillsEvery student in the truck failed their evaluation because we all had hours or less instruction by a has been instructor who was mad at us students for making mistakesSwift offers a three week program where you learn the knowledge and skills necessary to be a safe tractor trailer operatorThat is a lieThe training is not comprehensive and is unsafeThis school gets 40-new students who share a very small motel room with students to a room at the ***Every student is given a start date, class number and graduation dateThe students are to sign a student loan for $4,on day In my experience no student graduated on their graduation dateThis school has too many students to teach and doesn't care if they have to bus you home for weeks in the middle of training to free up a bed in their partially owned motel so they can get more students in to sign the loanThis company and it's few instructors do not care about your successAbout in graduate with a CDL and those are always students with previous experienceThis school is a sham and it's main purpose is to get students in to sign a student loan and get them home with no job as soon as possibleThis is not an accredited trucking school but every instructor, recruiter, and website advertisement will make you think otherwiseI learned the hard wayInvest in your future and education with a school that cares about you not just your signature on a loan document
