On March 1, 2017, the customer had their 2008 [redacted] Rogue towed to our shop because it was not drivable. They said they had owned it for 2 years but it had been sitting for over a year and had not been driven because it poured out transmission fluid. I was reluctant to even work on it because knew...

the CVT transmissions, especially in the [redacted]s, were very problematic. told them and made sure they understood that we were going after a leak; but, if there was a problem with the transmission itself, it would still have a problem, There was no way for us to know because it was not drivable. They agreed and acknowledged it was their chance to take on the repair. When we started working on it, we found that Someone had already very poorly installed a used transmission. There were many bolts missing and the ones that were in it were left loose. When we got the transmission out, we found the problem that was causing the leak. The snout of the torque converter was badly damaged from being installed incorrectly and had chewed up the front sea letting fluid pour out. I took pictures and documented what we found when working on the car. On 3-21-17, when the customer's grandfather paid the bill and picked up the car, I went over everything we did and showed him the pictures had taken explaining what we found wrong with the car.A few weeks later the customer called me and told me it was running and driving great with no leaks but had a check engine light on. He also stated that he had only driven it 30-40 miles since the leak was fixed. I knew that wasn't correct because it was farther than that back to his house from my shop, but I didn't argue, told him to bring it back and we would scan it and look at it (no charge) to see what was going on. The transmission was shifting great but had code in it for possibly two things, the transmission computer needed to be re-flashed or the valve body needed to be replaced. Either one would have to be done at a [redacted] dealership. While researching the possibilities for the codes, I found the bulletin from [redacted] where they had extended the warranty on some transmissions. I explained this to the grandfather and told him about the extended warranty on the transmission, asked him if he would like for me to check to see if it may be covered. He said he would appreciate it, I called the local [redacted] dealership and gave them the VIN number of the car and they told me that it looked like it would be covered,The next time I heard from the customer, he called and said that it had the wrong fluid in it. He asked what we put in it and told him that we put the [redacted] CVT transmission fluid in it and texted him a picture of the bottle, cannot say what the transmission had in it already, but I knew what we put in it and topped it off with. This was the last time heard from the customer and suggested that if [redacted] wasn't going to help him with the recall, he needed to ask them to do a total flush on the transmission since they were saying the fluid was contaminated. It just had a check engine light on and the car was running and driving fine.I hate it that the customer has complaints with the leak repair because we go to great lengths to make sure our customers are satisfied. We treat everyone equal and treat them how we would want to be treated, We are concerned the customer has resorted to write to the Revdex.com. We have been in business for 15 years and take pride in the work performed at our shop and try to make sure all customers leave satisfied.Sincerely,[redacted]Vice PresidentSEE ATTACHMENT

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[        SEE TWO ATTACHMENTS. First, I must say that reading [redacted]'s "defense" to our complaint, was almost comical at best.Let me break down every detail in which he lied:1. [redacted] states my vehicle was towed to his shop? That isn't true as we drove it to his shop personally.  my vehicle had a small leak in fluid but was never NOT drive able. [redacted] nor anyone else I ever spoke to at the shop ever responded as if they didn't or was "reluctant" to work on my SUV. Their reluctance in anything was the price, as that changed 3 times over the course of time they had my vehicle. 2. MY transmission was NEVER replaced, I have no idea where [redacted] gets this information from as this transmission in the 2008 Nissan rogue is the ORIGINAL transmission that came in it. The vehicle has never been to any other shop besides hometown auto in Hardinsburg KY3. We never were told we were "taking a chance on repairing it by their shop" I wish I had been told that. I certainly would have saved myself a lot of money and time.  But the fact is the SUV had what appeared to be a simple leak, and never once did they state they didnt know how to fix it. 4. After the second time we got the suv back from hometown he stated it needed to be reprogrammed, he claimed there was a recall and that nissan would fix it for free. This was absolutely NEVER the case. There was in fact a bulletin on the vehicle but only for defect, the nissan dealership said they COULD NOT give us a new transmission due to the negligence of Hometown auto. The negligence being the wrong transmission fluid being put into the vehicle. When we told [redacted] this information, his first response was " we never put transmission fluid in your vehicle at all. Which you can clearly see by his receipt we were charged for it. After that his story changed to we topped it off with 5 quarts and texted us a picture. This is hilarious because the vehicle only holds 4 quarts in total. After this [redacted] has refused any and all attempts to even speak with us.5. We took [redacted] up on his "recommendation of having the transmisson fluid flushed and having the RIGHT fluid put in at nissan. We paid an additional 149$ for Nissan to do this, but it was to late, the damage to my transmission was already done. attached you will also find a picture that NISSAN sent us after taking my transmission apart. clearly you can see the seals and chipped paint and the damage the wrong fluid has caused. My vehicle is worse off now than it was before I took it to hometown auto for a simple transmission leak. ALL OF THIS could have been avoided had the right transmission fluid been put in my vehicle. I would not be replacing a transmission today had it not been for this simple but devastating mistake this shop has made. Mistakes are made everyday but to not fix them or blatantly lie about the vehicle is beyond sad especially for a shop that claims to be about customer satisfaction. I never asked for them to pay for a new transmission, which is what they have costed me. But rather to simply refund my money I wasted at this shop. I just hope it doesn't happen to anyone else, and that this shop ([redacted]) will be more honest.  ]
Regards,
[redacted]
