Review: We ordered a set of bunk bed about 5 weeks ago. The company told us they would arrive in about 7-10 days. after not hearing back from the company in about 7 days we called to find out an update to which they replied it should be here today or tomorrow and we will deliver them that day, that was about 4 weeks ago. we called 2 days later to find out if and when the would deliver so we could have somone home during the delivery. no call backs were made to us. we called that friday, they said first thing next week. now we are 1 week past when they said they would deliver. this happened the following week as well where they told us about everday the shipment was delayed it is coming in tonight we will deliver it tomorrow. this happened almost everyday last week. During this delay and being lied to on a regular basis, we asked for them to give us some sort of refund, either price, installation, store credit anything since we have been waiting now for 3 weeks since they first said they are here or are arriving tonight we will deliver them tomorrow. we feel we should recieve someone. finally last night after being jerked around all this week as well they arrived very late almost 8pm to deliver, no pre call or anything so my wife was not home. they delivery guy brought bunk bed into the house and then asked for payment which was higher than the agreed upon price. we told them we would not pay that and would like some sort of credit because of the delay. he told me NO, they only make $75 profit as it is so it is not worth it to him to sell to us. I asked to speak with his boss, [redacted] Swopes. when he got [redacted] on the phone, [redacted] Swopes began to curse and swear up and down about us , his customers, using the F-word at 6-8 time in reference to me, my wife and our business. he told the delivery guy to load everything back up and he said he would refund us our $200 deposit. (we will see if that happens) I don't know how [redacted] has kept this guy in business for 35 years. surely he does not have any repeat customers. needless to say, our money and business is not good enough for Swopes, I would never ever for any price ever return to this store to be treated the way we were. Please no one ever shop at this place ever. I hope no one goes through this. as you can probably tell I was very kind in this complaint, it was actually much worse but I am trying to be objective while typing this.Desired Settlement: refund of our deposit of $200.00 promptly.

I've replied to the customer's statement once. You might of not been able to read my hand writing. So I'll start again.

The bunkbed was ordered October 2, 2013, not September 23,2013. I'm sending you a copy of the Credit Card recipt. So it was not 5 weeks as the Customer complained about. It was actually 16 days on October 16, 2013. The problem was that the shipment was delayed 6 days from the company. The very day it arrived here it was delivered to the [redacted]'s. The [redacted]'s were notified that very day that it was going to be delivered and they okayed it.

They waited until the deliverey driver unloaded the truck, carried the bunkbeds and matresses inside by himself before notifing the driver that they weren't going to pay. The first attempt to remove the bunkbeds and matresses, Timothy [redacted] who is a rather big musclular man told the driver that he wasn't taking the bunkbeds or matresses back. Basicly trying to intiminate the driver. It was only after the driver mentioned the Police did they let the driver remove the bunkbeds and mattresses.

As for the price of the bunkbeds and matresses it is $399.95. What they forgot was that in this country you have to pay taxes. So the total price was $423.95 after taxes. And [redacted] Swope did use the F-word, but it was about the deal and not the people. We gave them a great deal and they just wanted more. We already sold that bunkbed two days later for 449.95 plus tax. [redacted] Swope only said that he was suing them for all the crap they pulled. They have done nothing but lie and the only proof I have is the Credit Card recipt. So in his very first sentence he lied, and the snowball just kept getting bigger.

I am rejecting this response because: the response is untrue.

We as customers have been lied to, swindled, and cheated, at every turn with Swopes. We first contacted them about bunk beds and we had it narrowed down to a set b/c they were the cheapest, we later come to find out why. it is the only way they would make sale. Price point albeit important is the only way someone would continue a purchase with Swopes. when my wife returned a week later to purchase the bunkbeds that she had seen in a catalog the week before, no one could seem to the find the same catalog despite her being there just a week earlier and so we returned a few days later and finally purchased this set. we were told it would be here the end of this current week or early next, we contact them the end of the current, sorry they are delayed, we will have them early next week, early next week came and went, we were then lied to again. for at least 3 weeks we were given the run around on where the beds were in transit.

in response to my stature and demeanor, the one trying to intimidate, trick, swindle, and the only one cursing calling people, their wives and their families the f-word among other expletives was [redacted] Swopes on the phone, I only spoke back firmly after several names and insults directed at my wife and I. I was very calm, and cordial until the expletives were directed at my wife.

does that seem like great customer service with a customer they had already jerked around for weeks and weeks. obviously there is no customer service with this company.

maybe the shipment was delayed b/c the shipper realized how shady of a company this is and wasn't sure they wanted to go through with it.

anyway, we are done with Swopes, all we want now is our $200.00 deposit. it seems Swopes was able to trick another family into thinking they are a reputable company to purchase from. I feel bad for them, especially since it seems the prices varies by the person that walks through the door and how much they feeling like stealing that day.
