Sydney B. Moore Reviews (1)

Review: Buyer beware: Sydney B. Moore Estate Sales was hired to sell my household belongings at [redacted] on May 30, 2015. The first $1,500 of sales goes to the Estate sale, the next $500 goes to owner, anything over $2,000 is charged at 25%. After the total came to $2,500. My portion was about 1/3 of the sale profit. When we sat down to settle Sydney divided the money and told and ASSURED me, your home will be vacuumed, swept, and anything inside the home will be removed & liquidated and a tax deduction receipt will be sent to you, no additional cost, part of the Sydney B. Moore Estate sale. On Monday, June 8th, I receive a telephone call from [redacted], Sydney's house cleaner, telling me, "oh, the garbage has not been taken & Sydney is on vacation". [redacted] has been working for Sydney for 25 years. In Bethel Park, trash pickup only takes 2 bulk items a week, effective January 2013. Sydney & [redacted] are very much aware of this policy since they have been in business for over 25 yrs. Taking advantage wanting to get the house clean out due to a sale & closing on June 12th, I contacted [redacted], I was charged $210 to have them pickup the rest of my belongings in good faith Sydneybmoore would keep her word to have the house totally cleaned out and she would reimburse me. My complaint is I need to be reimbursed for the $210 and Sydney did not keep her word, she swindled me and is a fruad.Desired Settlement: Sydney B Moore needs to be transparent and follow through with the job she was hired to do and keep her word. It was her responsibility to have everything cleaned, all items removed from the home as agreed upon. I need to be reimbursed for my $210 that was paid to [redacted], so I could move forward with the closing of my 43 year home. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Response:

After receiving the complaint, I proceeded to call the client and his daughter. I wanted to hear exactly what happened and wanted to attempt to rectify the situation. They graciously accepted my offer to refund the remaining portion of money owed for bulk item disposal. Even though I did not personally handle any aspect of this particular sale, I wanted to reimburse the family for their out of pocket expenses that were not part of the original agreement. I have apologized for any inconvenience & appreciate the opportunity to make amends financially & personally. I took over the family business in January 2013. While I handle the majority of the sales each week, I unfortunately did not handle this one and was not aware of the problem until now. I value each client and want to maintain a good relationship & protect my reputation. I am truly sorry for this out of the norm situation.Sincerely,Fawn M[redacted] C[redacted]ProprietorSydney B. Response:

I would recommend hiring Sydney B. Moore Estate Sales IF;you hire the daughter, to sell your items. The daughter responded to and took care of a business transaction that her mother, reneged on. The mother failed to honor the contract with a superior & condescending attitude. May 2015 was the estate sale for the items in my father’s home. We noticed items that did not belong, such as a bow & arrow and a microwave. After the sale, the owner (mother) with an attitude proceeded to divide themoney, according to the contract. In addition, the house would be vacuumed, swept, and emptied, cleaned out top to bottom, no extra charge, part of the contract. June 8, ten days later, my 84-year-old fathergets a call from the house cleaner, “you must not have paid your bill becausethe bulk items have not been taken”. It was a set up. With a closing on Friday,June 12, my father panics, calls the Municipality & pays $210 to remove the large bulk items left from the house sale, an expense my father incurred, he should never been contacted. The owner (mother) should have completed the job as promised, she reneged on the contract. I tried to call and text, the mother, no response; in fact, she called my father and said if I continue to contact her, she will sue me. After contacting The Revdex.com, I received a phone call from herdaughter, who is taking over most of the business. The daughter reimbursed myfather for the money, apologized and wanted to know, what can she do to makethings right. I respect and admire the daughter for fulfilling a businesspromise her mother reneged on, nor was part of.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
