Regardless of the complainant's feelings on the ***, Synergy has written policies for a reason The policy is to send Certified Mail or come in person to cancel This is to protect both the customer and protect our business by showing proof that mail was sent and received Synergy Fitness does not ignore mail, nor are we in the practice of trying to rip off customers by conducting unethical business. As far as our employee, the complainant was witnessed by other members, a personal trainer, and our camera system (with sound) behaving in an unreasonable manner, berating our employee, and making a scene Witness statements attest to the fact that our employee maintained composure until the end of the conversation, and still handled herself as professional as possible, considering. With that said, despite the lack of proof, we are going to cancel the membership effective immediately, and will remove the balance for June to end this issue as soon as possible We will not continue to go back and forth with this complainant, but wish it to be known that we are doing this as a best practice response and not because we are admitting fault

The client claims that a letter was sent to the gym, however we have no record of this letter. The letter was not sent as Certified Mail which is a requirement to show proof and protects both the client and our business from lost mail. This requirement is stated in the...
signed contract. The other option we offer is to come in person and sign an Exit Form. The client e-mailed on June [redacted], 2015 to confirm the processing of cancellation for her son and was answered by one of the managers that we do not cancel memberships over the phone or via email, under the assumption that this was the first contact made to cancel. The client was told to come in to sign an Exit Form. Since June [redacted], 2015 was the first time Synergy was aware of the desire to cancel the membership, the client was charged the monthly dues on June [redacted], 2015. When the client came into the gym to sign the Exit Form, our front desk staff informed her that there was a balance on the account of $28.00 for the month of June and that the account could not be cancelled until the account balance was paid.We apologize if the employee was perceived to be rude, however, the employee's explanation of the cancellation policy was correct.Synergy does not have any proof that a cancellation was made in April and therefore cannot honor a cancellation for that month. We will however, honor a cancellation for June, after payment is made for June. The complainant's son will have access to the gym until June [redacted], 2015 and we will NOT charge the complainant for July, even though the cancellation will process after 6/*/15.
At this time, I have been contacted directly by Synergy Fitness Club regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
The business DID NOT contact me, but I did contact them again. The complaint is still unresolved. No charges have been...
reversed. Each time I have contacted them, they admit that my membership was cancelled but they continue to charge me monthly.

Review: Please let this letter serve as my fourth (4th) attempt to officially cancel my Synergy Fitness membership. The membership number assigned to my account is .
I enrolled in Synergy fitness on a month to month basis for twenty-five dollars a month. I signed paperwork cancelling my membership at my [redacted] location on July **, 2013. The months of July and August were auto-debited from my account and should have served as the requisite “30 day notice period” defined in Synergy’s contract.
When I was charged for the membership in September 2013, I called and was told that the membership was cancelled and the charge would be negated. In October and November, when I was again charged for the membership, I repeatedly called and was assured that the charges were in error and the membership was cancelled as of July **, 2013.
I cancelled my debit card to avoid being further scammed by Synergy. I have written to the Department of Consumer Affairs as well as the Revdex.com. The Synergy Corporate Office has also been sent a timeline of these happenings.
Cease and desist from charging my account immediately and return all monies charged me since my date of cancellation. The incompetence and unprofessionalism of the [redacted] and staff of the Synergy [redacted] location is mind boggling. My date of cancellation should be effective July **, 2013, any charges beyond August 2013 should be returned.Desired Settlement: I would like Synergy to stop billing me, contacting me for money and adhere to my 7/**/13 cancellation.

Review: I terminated my contract with Synergy in writing on April **, 2013. I was told that it would take 30 days to become effective. I was charged for May, which was not a surprise as it was within the 30 day period. However, I was also charged for June.Desired Settlement: True termination of my contract, refund to my credit card for the June charge and to never be contacted by anyone from the establishment again.

Sincerely,
Review: I cancelled this membership back on April [redacted]. I mailed a letter to the gym. I understood there was a 30 day wait period. I understood they would take payment on May [redacted] for the next 30 days. I emailed them on June [redacted] to confirm the membership was cancelled. I received an email from [redacted]. She said I needed to go to the gym to sign the exit form. When I arrived, [redacted] would not let me sign the form. She was trying to get an additional $28 out of me for the month of "June" when this was in fact cancelled back in April. She was extremely rude and nasty. I left without signing anything because she would not give me any paperwork to sign.Desired Settlement: Just cancel the membership as requested on April [redacted]!!!

Sincerely,
Review: I had a month-to-month membership at synergy fitness in jersey city, the mentioned business. I followed the instruction mentioned on the contract to cancel the membership. (they require certified mail letter to cancel the membership) About 6 months after cancelation, they began charging again to my bank card. Unfortunately I found that out more than a year later because our growing family moved to DC suburb and didn't use that bank since we left Jersey City, although the account was not closed. I contacted synergy fitness, and they first admitted their billing mistake, but later they refuse to give the money back. I do have the copy of the receipt from the post office for the certified mail and the copy of the cancelation letter. The total amount synergy fitness owes me is $770.40. Even while I was disputing the issue with synergy fitness, they kept charging me, thus I eventually had to cancel the bank card, and I and my husband closed the bank account (it was a joint account) please look into this matter.Desired Settlement: I need to get $770.40 back that was charged 6 months after cancelling the membership for well over a year.
