Review: I have been a member of Synergy Fitness for over 4 years. I am no longer in a contract and I pay month to month. I have been getting over billed, double billed, wrong dues billed and have had my billing dates change numerous times. I was on a freeze for my wedding and Honeymoon and was charged a freeze fee, even though I had paid for the entire month. I was then charged my monthly dues two weeks early without a pro rate when I returned. I was also supposed to have my rate changed beginning in November to the lower advertised rate, yet I have been getting charged my previous monthly dues without any change. The final incident occurred yesterday when I was charged 2 weeks for the entire month after I was previously charged at the beginning of the month. This charge resulted in overdraft fees from my bank. I attempted to resolve with the business on numerous occasions, yet no resolution has resulted. Instead, I am given the run around. They are very unprofessional and do not care about their members. They are very greedy and do not maintain their gym either. The gym is extremely dirty and smells also.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for my over charged and double billing since the end of October.

Review: On April [redacted] 2014 I went to Synergy Fitness [redacted] to take a spinning class I paid with my debit card was asked to fill out some forms basically asking my information, where did I hear about their facility and my goals I took a photo, that every person entering the facility must take I was told and Know a year & a half later I'm receiving a notice from a collection agency stating I owe Synergy fitness $872.39. When I attempted to call to discuss this matter I was told by a supervisor by the name of Sean that they had the incorrect phone #, my name was also spelt incorrectly and that I had to go in person to see if my photo matched if it didn't I wouldn't be held responsible and if it did that I had to pay. I explained to Mr. Sean that I never signed up to become a member and requested a copy of all paper work. I also contacted my bank which I used to pay Synergy Fitness and was told besides the transaction on 4/*/14 they never attempted to charge my acct. after. I have worked extremely hard to built my credit score and maintain a great payment history with my acct. I was never contacted by Synergy Fitness until I received this notice on 10/19 from the collection agency which I feel they could have attempted to resolve any issues with trying to contact me first. any assistances you may offer would be greatly appreciated!!Desired Settlement: To have these charges removed from my credit report and for Synergy Fitness to be looked into for fraudulent actions

Review: I wanted to cancel my membership since the first month I've joined the gym. Now I have been told that my balance has doubled although I haven't used the gym at all since. I was told be a representative on October [redacted], 2015, named Richard, who harassed me on the phone stating that I was still being charged for a month to month plan although I did not go. Since there was no payment after my first month, I still being granted access to the gym and to use the facility after the term of my first month ended. My concern is the charges for months that correlated to the membership still being active although payments were not made. Although it was a membership contract, it was for a month-to-month plan. At signing of the contract I was told by the manager, Shawn,as a verbal contract, that I must pay for each month in order to continually use the facility and if a payment was not made, I would not be allowed to use that gym. In addition, during the signing, I was told that I would be able to use all the facilities throughout the city and this was falsely advertised. I went to the gym on [redacted] in Manhattan 2 weeks after I got the membership and I was told that my membership was not valid for this amenity. I let it slide since I was only planning to have for a month due to this situation and false advertisement. Thus, being charged for extra months after I was told false information during signing the contract violates the professionalism as well as the verbal contract with the manager. I have spoken to their customer service representative, George L** multiple times via email and I requested an address and contact information of their headquarters and I was denied it twice and told to address it to the gym facilities manager, even though this manager has no power to settle my situation. After communicating through a few emails with George L**, he stated "I'm sorry but I am further able to assist with this matter" and refused to give me any more assistance and just pushed me off to the gym's manager.Desired Settlement: I would like for the month-to-month contract to be ended as well as the 2 months of payment that I was falsely charged to be retracted. I am willing is disregard the lack of professionalism that I have experience from their staff and faculty as long as the charges on my bill are revoked.

Review: About 2 years ago, my ex boyfriend [redacted], purchased me a gym membership, He was the sole guarantor, He paid the first payment to the last payment on file. We broke up. I called the gym to ask them what would happen now. I was specifically stated to me, nothing. He Owned the contract, the bill was being paid and I was not responsible. I stopped going to this gym since now we were no longer a couple and did not need to be in the same gym, I did not use any of the services any longer. I never thought about it again. Today April *,2014 I receive a collection Letter in the amount of $146.33. I called the collection agency, I called synergy gym. Magically, the paperwork on me is not available, and mysteriously my information in the computer I was told has no dates like every one elses. So I never received a bill ever, I was not the guarantor, But now my credit is being ruined because Synergy gym just decided since the guarantor wouldn't pay them, they just erased his name and put mine. I do not understand how this is allowed. Is this considered illegal activity to put a person's name that didn't authorize them or sign any paperwork? The contract was never signed by me. I did not purchase gym membership it was a gift.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is to be removed from collection, with a written apology and release from anything involved with this unscrupulous organization, Synergy Gym. I want a letter of satisfaction and a letter stating that I do not owe this money

Sincerely,

Review: I sent them a certified cancellation letter months ago, that they state they forward to their office and my account would be canceled. This was back in april, I paid all my debt to them which is automatically taken from my debt card. I get a call now in august from a collection agency telling me I owe them $160. Knowing full well I paid my debts and sent my letter. Some things are not adding up here. I should not owe any money at all, considering it should have been cancelled in May 2015 the latest.Desired Settlement: I do not want anything against my credit. I pay all my debt that I owe, I will not pay anything that's falsely charged against me knowing that I did my due diligence in paying my fee to them and sending a certified letter cancelling my account.

Review: I had a membership at Synergy Fitness for the year of 2014. I never had the opportunity to use their services due to a life threatening medical condition and left femoral arterial surgery in April of 2014. However, I paid month to month my membership throughout the entire year of 2014 with no objections. In December of 2014 I received a courtesy call from Shawn, one of the managers at Synergy Fitness. He was claiming that he called to find out why I haven't been coming to the gym. I explained to him that I had leg surgery and my condition wouldn't allow that. I also informed Shawn that I will NOT renew my membership for 2015 due to the same medical condition and I asked him not to further charge my card after the original membership for 2014 would expire. He agreed and stated that my card will NEVER be charged after the membership expiration.

However, starting in August of 2015 I started receiving calls from a collection agency named PERFORMANCE PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT followed by a letter from the same agency on October ** stating that I owe $402.14 as debt toward Synergy Fitness in Staten Island (????). This is inaccurate as I have verbally informed Shawn that I will not continue my membership after it expires and I had his verbal commitment that there is no expectation from me to continue and that my credit card will not be charged. A verbal commitment is as powerful and valid as a written commitment. Moreover, I have never received any written communication from Synergy Fitness that I owe anything before they advanced it to a collection agency.Desired Settlement: I am asking Synergy Fitness to remove any collections against me as they are inaccurate. I am asking Synergy Fitness to remove any potential or already implemented negative entries on my credit reporting.

Review: I belonged to Synergy for over a year and they billed me monthly on my credit card, which I paid each month and on time. So when I decided to cancel my membership a year ago I sent certified letter and they never cancelled the membership and said they never received the letter. But the first time I heard about this was this month which is almost year since the date I cancelled. This doesn't make sense to me because I was in good standing with them and always paid the membership so why all of a sudden almost a year later are they saying I owe money when if it was true why didn't they contact me after the first month they thought I didn't pay. This is a scam and its all over the internet how they try and take peoples money after they cancelled months and years later.Desired Settlement: I would like to not pay the collection agencies for payments in which I do not owe the gym. And would like it to be resolved and go away.

Review: I joined Synergy Fitness about 2-2 1/2 years ago. Shortly afterwards, my credit card was compromised, and the credit card # I had with them on file had to be changed. Since I had just started a new job with a much longer commute, and didn't think I would be able to get there often, I decided rather than calling and giving them the correct info, I would just call and cancel. I called and spoke to someone and explained what happened, got an OK, and hung up. I have not heard from this business, via phone call, email address, or letter, in 2 YEARS. All of a sudden, I receievd a collections letter in the mail, stating I owe just over $500 to the business. Apparently, my membership was never cancelled because I was required to send in a certified letter stating that I wanted to cancel, and therefore my credit card had been charged for 2 years. However, since my credit card # wasn't working, they just let the late payments sit and collect interest without EVER TELLING ME THIS WAS HAPPENING.Desired Settlement: I want to be taken out of collections, and I want these charges erased. I have no used their services in 2 years, and for 2 years they have let it sit and collect interest. This is a scam and I would like this debt wiped from my account.
