“Pending cancel” and they keep charging you
Awful.
I’ve been trying to cancel my membership since April 2020 (when they had to close because of COVID.) I tried sending emails, calling, I’ve sent a letter and, once the gym reopened, I even went there in person. They keep charging me after all these months and set my account on a fictitious and ridiculous “pending cancel” status. They’ve been sued and had to settle with the Attorney General in the past for this reason and based on all these reviews they will soon have to face the legal consequences!Desired Settlement: I don't want any money refunded. I just want the "debt" to be dropped, my credit to be unaffected, and my membership with Synergy Fitness to be officially cancelled

Review: I was given a 3 day membership to this GYM. Upon visiting it for the first time I was not allowed to do anything in the facility until I signed up for an agreement. Looking for a 24 hour gym and hearing and seeing only specific things from the representative I agreed to the membership. One of the key things in the membership agreement was that I was going to be charged once a month on the [redacted] for my dues under the agreement for one year. On multiple occasions I have been charged incorrectly and generally it has been refunded. I do not go to the gym at all because the facility is unsanitary and the station is rarely if ever monitored leading to extremely unsafe conditions. On top of that the facility is not maintained and multiple complaints to their corporate representatives via surveys have netted no response despite specifically requesting it. I am in a contract currently and have been allowing it to run out despite the fact that I have a membership at another gym now because it is such an unbelievably terrible environment and is only getting worse by the day. The fact that they are now double charging me and that a call to the manager netted a response of "oh well too bad it happens, I get that youre pissed nothing I can do" was too much.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund and I would like synergy to completely cancel my contract as they have not met the terms of the agreement by charging me multiple times.

Review: In September of 2013, I cancelled my gym subscription to Synergy Fit club. Pursuant to their cancellation policy, I sent a letter cancelling my membership via certified mail, after expressing my intent to cancel in person and being told the only way to cancel was by sending a letter via certified mail. Subsequent to my cancellation, I went to the gym to confirm the cancellation was effective and was told management would get back to me, but they never did. The gym membership automatically charged my credit card monthly for my membership, so once the charges stopped, I took that as evidence of successful cancellation considering a) I complied with the company’s cancellation policy be sending a letter b) I tried to confirm with management that my membership was successfully cancelled and c) My credit card stopped being charged. Now, in March of 2015, debt collectors contacted me stating I owe $500 to synergy Fit club, despite cancelling my membership via the terms stipulated in their contract 2 years agoDesired Settlement: The $500 they claim I owe should be eliminated, and any damage to my credit score should be reversed, to the extent that is possible.

Review: I visited Synergy Fitness and inquired about a guest pass and I was given a 4 day guess pass with no obligation to join, but I was considering joining but I wanted to see what the facility had to offer. I'm a rock & roll hall of fame inducted recording artist so my group and I were scheduled to go on a 60 city tour in the coming weeks and I conveyed that fact to the manager. She asked me if I would sign a contract and I told her I wasn't certain I was actually going to join because of time restraints and the fact my group & I would be touring in the coming weeks so I only used the 4 day guest pass given to me and I signed the contract after I was told by the manager she would take my banking information at a later date. A few weeks afterwards I had a major flood in my apartment and my group & I went on tour and while touring I found another place to live and relocated to Las Vegas. Now I'm receiving calls from a collection agency suggesting I owe Synergy money for unpaid membership and I never jojned and never gave them any banking infoDesired Settlement: I would like for Synergy to be removed from my credit report seeing as though I've never spent one physical day in their facility as a member and there must be some law to protect people from an entity claiming they're owed money for a membership and no banking information was exchanged nor was a day spent in the facility as a member! I would like Synergy removed from my credit report

Review: Good morning,

I opened a Revdex.com case about 1.5 years ago (8/[redacted]/12), complaint #[redacted]. I want to reopen this case or request help because the company (Synergy Fitness) sent a debt collector after me for over $850. I just received the letter last week and I am not sure how to proceed. Last time, the case was closed because the company did not respond.

I joined Synergy Fitness (gym) on 5/[redacted]/12 (first monthly charge on my credit card bill). I attempted to cancel my membership in July 2012 through several routes - including in-person visits on multiple occurrences. I was constantly deferred because the "[redacted]" ([redacted]) was out. After calling on numerous occasions over 2-3 weeks, I sent a formal letter of cancellation to their mailing address. After being billed again in August 2012, I contacted the Revdex.com to open case #[redacted]but the issue was never resolved because the company did not answer. I ended up blocking Synergy Fitness on my credit card after 8/**/12 as they continued to charge me after cancelling the membership. They are still charging me to this day, according to Chase Bank.

In response to the debt collector, I mailed a certified letter to dispute the debt this morning. I tried to contact the manager again yesterday by phone but was unable to reach her. I was told from another employee that all I had to do 2 years ago was send a "certified letter" to cancel membership and that it was my fault that I did not read the contract carefully.

I find this company to be acting in bad faith as I have attempted everything in my power to cancel in a timely fashion in the summer of 2012. On the countless attempts at reaching someone who could help me cancel the membership, no one ever told me how to mail a certified letter. I went around for weeks trying to track down [redacted], the [redacted]. I have not received any contact from Synergy Fitness themselves over the past 1.5 years, and suddenly get a debt collector letter requesting that I pay.

Furthermore, upon reading the contract more closely, it seems illegal. It has no ending date for those who want month-by-month membership, which essentially states that you will be responsible for all accumulated charges for as long as you are alive unless you are somehow able to cancel membership properly.

Please, please help or recommend legal advice ASAP!Desired Settlement: I don't want any money refunded. I just want the "debt" of $854.76 to be dropped, my credit to be unaffected, and my membership with Synergy Fitness to be officially cancelled, effective August 2012.
