Review: Upon learning of a new $20 per month membership in late December 2014 I went to the gym to downgrade my membership on 12/**/14. I was told I'd need to wait until mid-January, at which time I could switch memberships and then new rate would take effect 02/**/15. When I went back in January I was informed there would be a $200 downgrade fee. I promptly canceled my membership, and was told I'd be billed a pro-rated amount through February, per the terms of providing 30 days notice to cancel.When I spoke with the ** of the gym in December I was not informed of any downgrade fees. Had I known about the fee at that time, I would have canceled and provided my 30 days notice, with my membership ending at the end of January. Instead, NYSC's failure to inform me of the fee in December led me to delay providing my 30 days notice, resulting in additional charges in February. When I canceled in January, the ** of the gym informed me they were not aware of the $200 fee in December. However, I subsequently learned NYSC has always charged customers a downgrade fee. This information was not provided to me on 12/**/14, and had I been informed of a fee, even if the exact amount wasn't known, I would have promptly canceled my membership. I called NYSC's main office on 01/**/15 and spoke to a customer service rep. She relayed my situation to a floor supervisor, who stated they would not credit my account for February, because I had not provided 30 days notice. When I explained the delay in providing notice was due to the fact that I wasn't provided accurate information on which to base my decision in December, she stated there was nothing she could do to help me. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told calls are not transferred or escalated.Desired Settlement: Refund February charge to my credit card.
