Review: Synergy Fitness on [redacted] has put a claim into a collection agency for a Membership in their club that I cancelled in writing over a year ago. They never removed me from their computer, never notified me that they thought I owed them money. A few times they double billed me and I had to fight them for a refund so when I thought my membership was cancelled because I was told it was taken care of( after 5 repeated trips and promises it would be done and sending a certified letter to an address I was given), I changed my debit card number so I wouldn't have problems with them. To my horror I did not save my paperwork because I thought it was settled long ago. They are so shady, there is no longer corporate offices, no manager to take responsibility to help, was told they are a franchise and they don't see the owner? How is someone supposed to resolve and issue?Desired Settlement: I would like Synergy to take this debt out of Debt Collectionsince I owe them nothing. They can see the last time I was in their gym. If they will not erase this debt and clear my name I am willing to go to small claims court. I need this cancellation done immediately as if I am still on their books they are probable still running a bill.As you can see from above this whole matter reeks of fraud and I refuse to pay them a pennie.I greatly appreciate any help you can give me in resolving this.

Review: I joined Synergy for a 1 year contract at a guaranteed monthly price. For the first few months everything was fine and then the just started upping my monthly charge by a couple of dollars. Every time I called I was told that the [redacted] was not there and would leave a message but was never called back. When I went to the gym and inquired about this they made up a story about a new tax in NY. I explained that they made a contract at a stated price and if there was in fact some new tax (very questionable) they would have to eat it as they offered this contract. They said they would discuss it. There is nothing to discuss, you have to honor your agreement. This puts them in violation of said agreement as they broke the contract. It is now over a year and a half and they have illegally tried to charge my credit card again out of the blue. I would like them to cease and desist from these activities immediately!Desired Settlement: stop charging my credit card illegally, refund the illegal charge or I will report your business to the district attorney

Sincerely,

Review: I've canceled my membership in 2014, April because of the uncertainly of my visa status. (To be specific, to get approved of the visa, you must leave the United State, and they take away your passport and deport you without being able to come back to the USA if you get rejected at the interview.) I've followed the procedure to cancel the membership by mailing the letter of my reasons and proof of my one way ticket leaving USA as the gym has told me to do.I canceled 2 months before my membership ran out, and yet they have never contacted me in any way. I did NOT receive any calls, emails, mails from Synergy Fitness (though they for sure has it) till now from a collection agency that is charging me $1,190.93 after over a year later.Desired Settlement: I have previously provided the necessary info to cancel my membership, so the desired outcome is to have the charged outcome canceled as it should be and my credit report corrected.

Review: I quit Synergy Fitness Clubs more than 3 years ago. Twice in the last 2 years, I have been contacted by 2 separate collection agencies for past due membership fees. I believed in 2014 that this issue was resolved when I received an email from one of their managers that I owed no money to Synergy. Today I received a call from Performance Portfolio Management alleging that I owed over $1400. When I called Synergy to demand an explanation, the representative stated that they have been contacted by other former members with the same issue but that there was no one there to speak to me or to resolve the problem; I would need to wait to the following business day. This behavior is harassing and disruptive since the issue is with Synergy's business practices as well as poor record keeping.Desired Settlement: I would like them to stop submitting my name to collection agencies; clear up their records and notify me by mail the the records are current with no balance owed and an admission that all of these issues are due to their gross mismanagement.

Review: In short, had a month-to-month membership. I cancelled. I initially wasn't aware of needing a certified letter for cancellation but finally got around to sending one last spring 4/2014. I hand delivered the certified letter receipt and they photocopied it. They finally stopped billing me. I moved to Maryland in 6/2014. 5 months have passed by and I have not received a bill, until this month 10/**/2014.

I called and my name is back in their system. I don't even use that credit card anymore. And if it wasn't for [redacted], they could have gone on and charged me for several more months before I periodically check my statements.

[redacted] is very understanding and refunding me the money and investigating. Synergy claims that I need to call between 8am and 2pm to resolve this issue. I will call tomorrow.

I am just worried about any other client they may be randomly billing either by accident or, hopefully not, deliberately.Desired Settlement: Removal and shredding of all my account information with the organization.

Sincerely,

Review: I cancelled my membership to this gym in August 2014. I have not gone to this gym since the first week of August 2014. The gym confirmed via phone in early September 2015 that they received my membership cancellation via mail (and also confirmed today, on 12/**/14).

I paid my balance on 9/*/2014, but the company continues to send my bills. The gym will not cancel my account and asked me to pay the balance of $75 on the account. My membership was for $25/month and as previously mentioned, I paid through September 2014.Desired Settlement: Cancel account and stop contacting me.

This company is purposely difficult in its cancellation policy. I am sure there have been many other Revdex.com complaints and there are hundreds of of public internet complaints (see "[redacted]").

I suggest this company gets fined and is forced to change their corrupt, deceiving, and unjust policy or they are forced to close down.

Review: I signed up specifically for a MONTH-BY-MONTH plan because Synergy Fitness stated there would be no annual stipulations that come with a MONTH-BY-MONTH plan. After stepping into the poorly equipped, unhygienic excuse for a gym a couple times I decided not to go anymore and cancelled my membership. I abided by their ridiculous cancellation policy of writing a formal letter of cancellation and sending it to the gym via USPS Certified Mail. After this I get a charge on my statement from Synergy for $26.12. I call the gym and they tell me the charge is for an ANNUAL MAINTENANCE FEE. There was absolutely nothing disclosed upon signing the contract about an annual maintenance fee. Also, I had signed a MONTH-BY-MONTH plan so there is NO ANNUAL MAINTENANCE to FEE yet they argue Synergy reserves the right to add any fee they wish. I've spoken to many sales associates at the location and they give me the run around. I finally get to the location [redacted], [redacted]. [redacted] then proceeds to give me even more of a run around and becomes impossible to get on the phone or see in person. He tells me he has to talk to his [redacted], [redacted]. He then takes over a week to get back to me about her and then refuses to give me her contact so that I may talk to her myself. They even proceed to charge me a months membership after the cancellation!Desired Settlement: I need a full refund of the $26.12 fee and a full months membership fee. I also demand a written apology for the blatant disrespect that this company has shown me.

Review: I tried to cancel my membership at the end of June of this year and a lady named Lisa said I needed to write a letter saying I wanted to cancel my membership because it was easier than just doing it while I was there. I wrote the letter, signed it and handed it to Lisa the next day. She said she would take care of it. I got charged for July even though I didn't use my membership, I called to complain, Lisa said she would take care of it and that my money would go back into my account. I waited and instead of getting my money back, I got charged for the month of August as well. I called and she just puts me on hold or makes up excuses that the computer is down, she has customers, the person that handles that kind of stuff is gone. I showed up in person, she played around with the computer and said it was all taken care of and that the money would go back in my account in 3 days. Its now been over a week and when I called to ask she said again that the computer was down and to call back in 20 mins. I called back and someone else said she was busy, so for the 3rd time I asked to speak with a manager and as always, he or she wasn't around.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to just give me back the money they owe me and to stop charging me for a membership that I tried to cancel both in person and threw a letter.

Sincerely,

Review: I cancelled my gym membership. I was on a month to month plan. A personal trainer I did not know pinched my hip and called me fat. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. There isn't good heat in the winter or air conditioning in the summer and the locker room has roaches.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop contacting me telling me I owe money even though I stopped going more than a year ago. Why would I pay for a gym I don't go to?

Review: I was recently contacted by a collections agency regarding unpaid gym fees exceeding $2,000. I canceled my gym membership and have not been to this business in greater than two years ago, however just this past week started receiving calls about how I owe this money. I canceled with the gym and paid all that I owed at the time of cancellation, however just now (two years later) received this phone call.

I do not owe this gym or collections agency any money.Desired Settlement: I am very concerned that this will impact my credit score. I was a good customer of this gym while I was a member and want to make sure that this does not impact my credit. I canceled my membership with this gym when I moved and they had no right to send a balance of $2,000 to a collections agency. This was very clearly a scam on their part and a way to get additional revenue from the collections agency.

Review: I am a former member of Synergy Fitness. I stopped using their services in January 2014 after closing the account over the phone, without being instructed to do anything further. I received a phone call in July 2015 (19 months later) from a credit collection agency called Performance Portfolio Management claiming I owe Synergy Fitness $1400 in outstanding fees. Since January 2014, Synergy Fitness has continued to charge my card on the account without my knowing, as the card has now been expired or replaced numerous times, and therefore no charges have appeared on my statements. During this same time period, I did not receive any notification via phone, email or letter from Synergy Fitness in regards to the charges not being paid. I spoke with the Mulberry manager Lamont S[redacted] on 7/**/15 and he was completely unaware of the matter, and found out that they did not have my correct name or email address on file. He passed me on to their customer care representative George L**, who sent me back to Lamont without any additional help. Lamont then e-mailed me and said Synergy Fitness and the Collection Agency would agree to settle for $910 without any further explanation.Desired Settlement: This is affecting my credit, time and livelihood. I don't want to settle with Synergy or the Credit Agency out of principle, and would like this billing adjusted to $0 on their side and my name removed from both Synergy Fitness and the Credit Agency. I am open to other desired resolutions / outcomes based on how the Revdex.com would like to proceed. Based on what I've found online, this gym has a pattern of doing similar billing / credit collection schemes and needs to be addressed. [redacted]

Review: I have proof that I canceled from this gym in November of 2013. I spoke to the gym and my credit card company in may 2014, as I was still getting charged. An employee at the gym said that the manager there Scams everyone and to contact my bank about it. I contacted my bank, they called Synergy about the problem, end result canceling my credit card due to the continuing unauthorized charges. I recently received a letter from collections saying I owed this company $600 in change.Desired Settlement: I would like them to nullify the letter they unjustly sent to collections as well as write a letter to my credit card company saying to delete this transaction from my credit score because they made an error.

At this time, I have not been contacted by Synergy Fitness through phone or email regarding complaint ID [redacted]. [redacted], the stores manager has pulled me over on the street and told me "if I give him $200. He would make a call to collections and make it all go away." But he apparently cannot do that without the $200. Even though this was their mistake. Also collections has been trying to get in touch with this company as well for me and other people they have been pulling this scam on. And they have been unsuccessful as well. Thank you for your help in this matter. Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: I signed up to join Synergy Fitness at [redacted] last night. I was told that the cost for the summer would be $180 for the duration of the summer. After paying cash, I went downstairs to work out and find the place to be disgusting. Its weights are rusty and the place does not seem sanitary for a gym. On top of that my real issue was that Synergy is currently repainting the entire basement which makes the entire weight room smell like chemicals. Having [redacted] I could not last for longer than 20 minutes during my workout until I succumbed to a complete coughing fit. I went upstairs and kindly asked for my money back due to [redacted] and because Synergy and failed to disclose these conditions to me. The person at the front desk said that [redacted] ([redacted]) had left for the day, and she called him. She said that only [redacted] had access to the safe and could give me my money back. She then called him and he said that I should come back tomorrow to receive my refund. I came back after work today to speak to [redacted]. He told me that he did not have access to the safe and that no one did which is not what I had been told the night before. Furthermore, he stated that he could not give me a refund and made it sound like even if I followed the steps to receive a refund which includes sending a letter to them in the mail, within 3 days (I could not just give it to them there), I still wouldn't get my money back. I called another synergy location which said that [redacted] is in charge of giving me a refund i.e. [redacted]. [redacted] continued to refuse to provide a refund. I firmly believe that he had access to the safe since the receptionist told me he did the night previous and because I could tell he was lying. I could tell that the trainers there knew [redacted] was not telling the truth even though they would not admit it. [redacted] gave me a "corporate number" to call that was supposedly the line for complaints and for business management. This was a phony line and the number was invalid. This is a terrible business practice. I asked for a refund 15 minutes after joining when it says I have 3 days and they could not provide it. Furthermore the gym conditions were not sanitary especially for someone with [redacted]. I believe that the contract I signed was breached by the failure to disclose the conditions of the gym that might change my mind about joining. I also believed I was continually lied to every time I spoke to [redacted] and found evidence of that through other synergy gyms [redacted]s telling me that [redacted] could provide my refund.Desired Settlement: I would like either a refund in cash now or a check now. I was told if I was able to get a refund it would take 90 days. That is ridiculous. I asked to opt out of the contract cause it was an invalid contract 15 minutes later. I should not have to wait 90 days. Furthermore, I would like an investigation into [redacted] of the business who I do not deem to run a fair business or have any moral standards. The trainers there seem like good guys but it is clear that this is not the case with management.

Sincerely,

Review: I would like to report a complaint about the unfair charges I received from Synergy Fitness Club.

On Nov [redacted], 2012, I signed up/was recruited to join Synergy Gym. At the time, I explained to [redacted], the [redacted], that I wanted to sign up for only 1 month, since I was leaving the country. He assured me that cancellation process was very simple, I would just have to "notify" the gym of cancelling the membership 30 days in advance. Based on that, I agreed to sign up, and immediately notified them of my cancellation (knowing that I was moving out of the country).

Two years go by and I was not charged (as agreed). Recently (from October [redacted]), I received $507 back-to-back charges (no warning, no explanation). I was surprised to see those charges so I called the gym to try and resolve the problem. I spoke with [redacted] (I assume it is the same person). I first expressed that I was not happy to see that card was suddenly charged $500 total, and he explained that the gym was trying to charge my card monthly but that it was not going through (strange, never saw any pending charges and card was never replaced or cancelled). Had I known that I was still a considered a member, we could have resolved situation much earlier. I tried explaining that I cancelled my membership a long time ago, to which he impatiently repeated that in order for me to cancel my membership I would have to notify them via certified mail, as written in contract. I tried to explain that I am out of the country and asked if there was an easier way to handle this, and I was told that unless I do this I will continuously be charged.

Although I understand that I am contractually liable, I still feel that this is unfair given that it

1) it is difficult to send certified mail from out of the country (might not even recognize the stamps etc.. )

2) charges are completely against what we verbally agreed

3) Incorrectly charged (not-monthly)

4) gym has been uncooperative regarding my case

I do not appreciate Synergy's attempt to continuously suck funds out of my account at their will, hiding behind the contract, knowing that it is difficult for me to change the situation.

Thanks for your consideration.

Best,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: 1) Cancel my membership, as I have not been an active member for over 2 yrs

2) Refund $507 (recent charges since October [redacted])

Review: Firstly let's start with [redacted] who has to be the most uncouth manager working in retail I have ever come across. I have never in my adult life had someone raise their voice at me when asking simple questions about a business I'm paying to use a lot mind you. I called a few months ago to cancel my membership the person I was training with quit (because of shady dealing with the club) I literally called and canceled my membership the next day and was told no problem by whomever on the phone. Going forward the debit deductions stopped or so I thought. As of August [redacted] 2014. I was charged $241.22. When I called to ask why. [redacted] told me I "must not read" and it says on my contract that I "have to send in a certified letter" to cancel a membership. When I asked why did they stopped charging my account back in May when I called. I was told "Oh the computer must of just caught up" and "You still owe us $100 plus dollars before we will allow you to cancel"Desired Settlement: I want my money refunded! I want to be able to cancel my membership with out being charged again.

Review: Will not let me cancel my membership. Sent in certified mail, proof that I moved 50 miles away, and emailed owner and tries to bill me.Desired Settlement: I want to stop getting charged, as well as get a $90 refund for the 3 months of extra charges.

Review: In September of 2014 I joined Synergy Fitness in [redacted]. I wanted the contract to be month to month as I was not sure if I would be living in the area long term. They wanted me to sign a month to month contract without expiration, I refused to do so and I signed one that says it would STOP charging me after August [redacted], 2015, they told me I could cancel early with a months notice if I wanted it to end earlier.

In July of 2015, extremely displeased with the services, I attempted to cancel my membership. The business refused to let me and stated that I needed to mail them a notarized letter, sent certified mail and that they then had several weeks to process it. I told them they were impeding my ability to cancel services and that I would simply decline their charges, they told me THIS WAS ALSO A WAY TO CANCEL THE MEMBERSHIP. This was in July 2015. My credit card was charged for August, September, October, November and December. I have not been to the gym since July of 2015. My card numbers changed and now they are calling me telling me that I'm going into collections, still refusing to end my service even though my contract states that my month to month would end August [redacted] 2015.

I've called multiple times, trying to cut my ties, they're still refusing. I've tried to explain to them multiple times, they're refusing to stop charging me. Even if I followed their instructions it could take until the end of March for my membership to be closed. This is unacceptable.Desired Settlement: I want them to officially sever my affiliation to their gym, and stop claiming that I owe them money.

Review: I cancelled a gym membership at this location with a signed letter sent to the address they provided over 2 years ago. Since cancelling I have received no phone calls or communications about my account nor have I seen any charges or attempted charges to my account. I recieved a call from a collections agency today (after 2 years) stating that I owe them over $2,000.

This must be a scam they run regularly and then need to be shut down.Desired Settlement: I would like them to have them stop the collections agency from contacting me and stop pursuing payment of time I was not a member of their club

Canceled my membership via certified mail. Had to put a stop on my [redacted] as they were trying to illegally keep charging me. Was just contacted by collections a year later even after I confirmed that they received my cancelation.

Review: To Whom It May Concern,

Iam writing this email to file a formal complaint against Synergy Fitness located on [redacted]. I have been receiving text messages monthly from phone number ###-###-#### stating that there is a problem with my synergy account and will be sent to a collection agency.

My friend and I stepped foot into their facility June 2012; I had entered their facility with no intention of joining but just to support my friend who was interested in membership. The owner of the business then introduced me to [redacted] who began telling me the prices to their membership without asking of my interest in membership. I had explained several times that Iam already a member at a different fitness club and was not looking to have a second membership elsewhere. [redacted] was not able to close the deal so the owner stepped in and offered me to have a membership if my friend was willing to pay for my membership. I had agreed as long as iam not responsible for the monthly payments so I signed the first page of their contract stating to activate a membership and my friend had authorized to have his card charged to pay for my membership. Thereafter, I never step foot into their facility to workout or to even further involve myself in any of their promotions. Beginning September 2012, the owner of the facility began calling my cellphone and when I had failed to answer I began receiving text messages from them. I advised my friend to take care of the issue and the next time I visited the facility, the owner apologized for having to get a hold of me so much and that my friend took care of the membership.

then October *, 2013 I receive a text message from phone number ###-###-#### stating "the is a problem with your synergy account and will be sent to a collection agency call [redacted] ASAP thank u." After a year, I receive a text message from them. I spoke to the owner of that facility October *, 2013 explaining the situation and that iam not willing to give them my credit card information considering I have never used their facility to workout; the owner then insisted to send my name to collection agency to collect $300. From the phone conversation with the owner, he does not sound like an honest business man considering he was not listening to a word I had explained nor was he will to work out a solution but insisted in collecting his money. I have called other Synergy locations to file a complaint to corporate only to find out each Synergy establishment is a franchise. Iam concerned that the lack thereof professionalism from the owner at [redacted] will affect my credit. Once again on October **, I received another text message from the same number with the same content.

My friend who is a member of their facility had filed a case against the facility stating that he was over charged on his card regarding membership and personal training. My friend had requested for a refund and was denied by the owner.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience concerning this matter.

Sincerely,

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like for the facility to stop harassing me with text message and phone calls. Iam not responsible for any charges occurred in relation to their business. I had never used their facility nor was an agreement or explanation made to take care of any delinquent charges. I have not provided the business with my bank or credit card information in fear that they would take advantage. I dont want any of their charges affecting my line of credit
