Review: Mr. [redacted]' (owner of Sysko Systems) employee [redacted] came to our residence 7-2-14 when we called to have our (perfectly functioning) air conditioner checked to make sure it was okay to handle the hot summer temperatures. He said the air handler had to be cleaned for $600 - $900, "and that would just buy time". (We found out later that cleaning the unit would only cost about $200). Based on his statement and strong recommendation (and knowing nothing about A/C's), I decided to have them install a new air handler, and Mr. [redacted] installed this on 7-5-14. This took our perfectly functioning A/C to one that would not work - couldn't get temp below about 80-81 degrees. Mr. [redacted] admitted installing wrong TXV valve, and installed a different one. It still did not work. Whenever I tried to talk to Mr. [redacted] about it, he said "there's nothing wrong with it - the unit is too small for the house - you misrepresented the size of the house", and would not consider any other possible causes for it not working. I therefore had to have several other companies to the house, at my expense, and the first one ([redacted]) charged the unit with freon, stating that Mr. [redacted] obviously had not done so after installing the new valve. That tech said that if it still did not work, it was a defective TXV valve. It still didn't work, and I had another company out (had no choice who came, as I went through my home warranty), and this tech didn't seem to know much, but said might be that the outside unit was dirty, so I paid to have it cleaned. Still didn't work. I had the last one out ([redacted]) on 9-15-14, who installed a new TXV valve, and the A/C has worked perfectly again ever since. We went the hottest part of the summer, July, August, and part of September, without a functioning A/C, due to Mr. [redacted]' refusal to work with us under his warranty, to fix the non-working installation by him. I sent him a registered letter with all of this information, and he returned it unopened. I finally e-mailed him on 9-29-14, and he responded that he was open to a resolution, and to send him receipts. I did so, and he responded that they do not show the he owed anything, and would not make it good. He said I should have given him the opportunity, in the warranty period, to fix it himself - which I repeatedly tried to do, and he refused to consider that there could be a problem.Desired Settlement: I want reimbursement of the documented $210.00 that I had to spend out of pocket to 3 other contractors, to finally find the problem and get it fixed. I recognize that it is my own fault that I allowed his employee Mr. [redacted] to mislead me about the condition of my old air handler, and the price to "fix" it, and my own fault that I therefore bought an unneeded and overpriced air handler from Sysko, which incidentally was very sloppily and unprofessionallly installed. Ideally, I would like the line dryer, elevation off the floor, and permanent filter that should have been included with a basic professional installation, but I recognize that it is likely that I will have to pay someone else to provide these items, as I did not know about them during the warranty period.
