Systematic Control Corp. Reviews (1)

Review: Systematic Control installed a air conditioning system into my house in 2010. It has had to be serviced several times in the three years we have had it. We had to refilled the Freon twice already since installation. In 2012 the motor needed to be replaced. This year we were told the evaporation coil needed replacement. The quote we were given was 1400 for just labor and Freon replacement and they wanted a deposit of 500 for them to order the part. The unit still has a parts warranty. They finally agreed to lower it to 750. Systematic has since informed us that they had the part but could not put us on their work schedule. As I am not in residence often, and my elderly parents do not speak English fluently; I called another company to see if they would do the repair for us before I had to leave. As the engineer was performing the quote, he mentioned that the water condensation was being allowed to leak onto my foundation wall in the house. However; according to the contract I signed with Systematic for the installation, it clearly states that a pump would be installed to take the water out of the house. This is the most likely explanation for the damp smell that has permeated our house recently.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is for Systematic Control to pay for the installation of the pump that was not installed during the installation. I also want them to pay for the inspection and repair any damage that might have resulted to the foundation due to the water from the air conditioning unit leaking into the crawl space of my house.

[redacted],

I am in receipt of your correspondence dated July **, 2013 in reference to [redacted] who resides at [redacted].

Systematic Control Corporation replaced an existing Fedders central air conditioning system that was installed in the crawl space of the [redacted] home.

The equipment chosen by the homeowner is manufactured by Carrier and has a capacity of three (3) ton 36,000 BTU.

Since the system has been installed a small amount of refrigerant has had to be added to the unit.

All air conditioning units manufactured by the Carrier Corporations incorporate service valves and access ports that overtime can leak small amounts of refrigerant.

The fact that this unit required refrigerant to be added on two occasions, I would consider to be normal.

Our technicians never found that the unit was completely void of refrigerant.

In August 2012, the air handler required a new motor. The motor was covered under the manufactures warranty. The only charges rendered to the homeowner was $60.00 dollars for the labor that was required to install it.

The fact that the motor failed raises the possibility that the evaporator coil froze. Freezing of the evaporator coil can cause ice to form creating a tremendous amount of pressure on the coiling coil and can cause small microscopic refrigerant leaks to occur.

The Carrier Corporation has supplied us with a new cooling coil and condensate pan at no charge.

Unfortunately, labor, refrigerant, filter dryer and other components that are needed to facilitate the repair are not covered under the warranty.

The normal charges to remove the evaporator coil and install a new coil complete with condensate pan, charge the unit with the required refrigerant is approximately $1,400.00 dollars.

As an accommodation to this homeowner, I agreed to perform the work that is required at the cost of approximately $750.00 dollars and provide him with a one (1) year guarantee on the work that is being performed.

The condensate water from the air handler, regardless of whether it is being pumped or flowing by way of gravity always flows to the same location outside the building.

In the event that water from the condensate system is entering the building through the foundation the same condition would occur in the event of rain and therefore, I suggest that the homeowner have the foundation inspected.

The leak that was detected in the cooling coil is extremely small and therefore the air conditioning system at the time that we inspected the site was cooling.

In view of the above, it is my personal opinion that Systematic Control Corporation has fulfilled our obligation under the contract (one (1) year guarantee on labor) and has provided this homeowner with a significant discount for the work that needs to be performed.

Furthermore regarding the condensate, in an unlikely event that a condensate pump is required considering that the system has operated for more than three (3) years, Systematic would be willing to install this pump at no charge.

After your have reviewed this correspondence, if you require any further information I can be reached @ [redacted].

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

In response to the letter from Systematic control: I did not state in the previous response that the system was over three years old. I have had a third party look at the system to see what was the problem due to non responsiveness from Systematic Control. I have a contract from Systematic Control which states that a pump would be installed and there was no pump installed (as noted in photos sent previously). Sending me a pump through the mail is not a solution, as the electricals was not set up and someone has to do the actual installation of the pump.

I paid Systematic Control for the installation of a pump and I did not get one. I have a quote for installation of the pump and I want my money back. The quote attached states that it will cost me $250 + tax to get one installed at this point.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

[redacted],

I am in receipt of your latest correspondence dated Tuesday September [redacted], 2013 concerning [redacted] who resides at [redacted].

As I stated in my previous correspondence our records indicate that the system that was installed at the [redacted] home has operated for more than three (3) years and did not present with any issues relating to condensate disposal.

The notion that Systematic Control Corporation is going to forward a check in the amount of $250.00 dollars to this home owner is being rejected, because it is my personal belief that it is strictly self serving and not based on any established facts.

As I stated previously Systematic is willing to forward a condensate pump to this homeowner at no charge or have one of our Senior Technician to review the installation that is installed at the premises and make a determination as to whether a condensate pump was omitted from the scope of work that was provided.

I appreciate the fact that the Revdex.com is investigating this matter however, I feel that this particular complaint is baseless.

If you wish to contact me with reference to this correspondence, I can be reached @ ###-###-####.
