I had my transmission go in my van (1996 Dodge Grand Caravan), and I called around and asked local businesses to help me out by fixing it. I talked to [redacted] the owner of T& B Transmission Service and he said that if I could get it towed to him he could see what the problem was and thenonce diagnosing it he'd call me and then we'd go from there. I said okay. I had my van towed to his place of business on 5/16/11. On 5/23/11 he finally got to get a look at it, he said that I had a cracked case and that if I wanted him to work on it I would have to take him a down payment. I took him $350.00 cash, on 5/24/11. He said that he would begin work on it at some point later that day or first thing in the morning. 5/26/11 he called me and said that everything was fixed and I could come pick it up if I had the remainder of the payment. I said I'd be over later w/ the money. I handed him the money he gave me my keys and told me what was going on with the vehicle. He couldn't rebuild mine it was too far gone. So he ended up just putting another one that he had in the lot in. I said okay. When my husband and I went and got it later that evening, it drove sort of funny, but I thought that with it just being fixed it may have kinks. I got it home and had my husband take it for a drive. It made a clunking sound and it shifted hard into any of the gears. Called [redacted] the next day and told him the problem, he said that if I could bring it out he'dlook at it. He took it for a drive and back and stated that whatever was wrong wasn't his problem. So he handed me back my keys and that was how he ended it. I still had problems with the vehicle and on 6/28/11 the transmission went again. We called him on 7/5/11 and told him what was wrong and he told my husband that there was nothing he could do unless we got it to him, but to do that we'd have to tow it back there which is at our expense and then what he thinks is wrong we'd have to buy that part plus his labor price. We hung up the phone after the end of the conversation and ended it as we are going to have to just sell it.
