RE: Mr [redacted] case# [redacted] On May 17, Mr [redacted] brought his Freightliner vin# 8L [redacted] into TDC Fleet Services shop for compression into coolantAt that time Mr [redacted] communicated to [redacted] owner of TDC Fleet Service that unit would not push out coolant while driving on flat ground and loadedHe said unit would push coolant out of the reservoir only loaded and pulling up hillOther than that it was fineWe proceeded to diagnose coolant loss issue by pressurizing the coolant system and running the engineWe noticed after running the engine above RPM's and coolant system pressurized, the reservoir began pushing coolant outAs per standard diagnostic procedure we eliminated all possible external entry points of pressure into cooling systemThe reservoir would still push out coolant under pressure and at rpmWe advised Mr [redacted] that the most likely possibility for the excess pressure into the cooling system would be a bad head or head gasketMr [redacted] asked me for and estimate on how much it would cost to fix itThis type of repair is very common and in my years in business, I have a good idea on the cost of their repairI gave a verbal estimate of $to $depending on the condition of the partsMr [redacted] then told me that he needed to seek funds to repair it and that he was in no rush for the truckAfter waiting for about a week for and answer, Mr [redacted] gave me the authorization for the repairAt this time, I told him that the technician that was working on his truck was already assigned to another unit and it would be a couple of days before he could resume work on his truckAfter days the technician resumed working on Mr [redacted] truckWe had a lot of time consuming issues with the engine dis-assembly due to corroded fastenersWe advised Mr [redacted] that we were going to have to replace many fasteners that were breaking off, which he agreedOnce we removed the head we sent it out, as we agreed, to have it checkedThe machine shop said that the coppers cooling cups were no goodI advised Mr [redacted] that the head needed repairsWe had head repairedHead took two (2) days to get doneWhen we received the head back, from the machine shop, we proceeded to clean all parts and prepare the engine for assemblyWhile cleaning for re-assembly, we noticed that the block had damage and the engine cylinders were too lowI called Mr [redacted] to advise him that the engine was going to need some machine work to completely solve his issuesI advised him that I was going to call a block specialist for a second opinionDamir from On-Sine came the next day and confirmed that the block needed to be repairI called Mr [redacted] again and advised him of what MrDamir had saidMr [redacted] said he would come to the shop the next week on Monday to see what I was talking aboutAfter showing him, I told him that the best way to fix it was to rebuild the engineI estimated the repair, with the block machining, would be about $13,He said to hold on while he sought fundingI never heard from Mr [redacted] againI was then contacted by Mrs [redacted] about weeks laterI had to explain everything to herShe asked how much to tow it out the way it was, I said about $She told me she would get in touch as to what they were going to do, because she couldn't get the money to rebuild itI did not hear back from Mrs [redacted] for weeksWhen she finally did call back she said to just re-assemble itI told her that there was no warranty if we put it back togetherShe agreedWe re-assemble the engine with new gasket and head boltsWe replaced all the corroded fastens as we agreedAfter re-assembly we found that the unit had no powerWe checked for all faults and turbo issues, we found a bad turbo boost sensor and a bad egr cooler plateWe replaced both but still unit had low powerI called and advised Mrs [redacted] that since this unit had 950,miles and it took a long time for them to decide what they were going to do, that the issue with the power was the injectorsI explained to her that the injectors with that many miles and left out of contact with diesel they dry outI told her the estimate to get them rebuilt was about $She said she needed to secure fundsI was then contacted by their back and talked to Jesus [redacted] at (415)479-exMr [redacted] approved the injector repairs and the previous repair work and said they would mail a check for a total of $We removed and had injectors rebuiltASP diesel injection told me that the injectors were very bad and needed extra partsHe had to order the parts and it would take extra days to get themI advised Mrs [redacted] that the other option was to buy them from the dealer at the cost of $each, for a total of $plus tax for the set of sixShe decided to wait and install their rebuilt injectorsIn closing, I did everything that was asked of meI could not fix a one-million-mile engine for the limited amount of money that they hadIf they would have had all the funding to fix it correctly, this job would have been done in weeks at the longestMr [redacted] complaint stated that I had only employee and that he quit, that is not true I have full time technicians and two-part time techniciansI have all payroll records to show proof of this since payroll is done in houseThank you for allowing me to share my side of the complaintI believe I should get paid for this repair, since I did show them and explained thoroughly what was needed to do the job correctlyI can present any information from On-Site or ASP Diesel Injection if needed Mr [redacted] /owner TDC I am rejecting this response because: First I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A COPY OF THE ESTIMATE SIGNED AND DATED OF WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO TDC THEN I WANT TO SEE A WORK SHEET OF ALL HIS MECHANICS OR TECHS STATED THE DATE AND TIME EACH ONE WORKED ON MY TRUCK AND THEIR QUALIFICATIONS TO WORK ON THE TRUCK SINCE HE TOLD ME HE HAD TO GO TO SCHOOLS TO GET MECHANICS I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE ALL INVOICES OF PARTS THAT HE STATED HE SENT OUT FOR WORK TO BE DONE ON WITH THE DATE THAT THE OUTSIDE COMPANY RECEIVED IT AND THE DATE AND AMOUNT CHARGED FOR THE REPAIRS THAT THEY SENT IT BACK TO TDC WE RECEIVED DIFFERENT INVOICES RANGING FROM $2105.09, 4,038.48, 2,AND FINALLY 13,THERE WERE SO MANY DIFFERENT REPAIR BILLS IN TDC STATEMENT HE STATED I WAS TRYING TO GET FINANCING THAT'S WHY IT TOOK SO LONG FOR THE TRUCK TO BE REPAIRED.THAT IS NOT TRUE, IT TOOK HRS FOR THE BANK TO GIVE ME APPROVAL TO REPAIR THE TRUCK BUT IT DIDN'T GET REPAIRED HE KEPT RUNNING THE BILL UP AND WE FOUND OUT HE CONTACTED THE BANK TO SEE WHAT WE WERE APPROVED FOR THAT'S WHY THE AMOUNT KEPT CHANGING AND THE TIME TO REPAIR TOOK SO LONG, ALONG WITH THE FACT HE HAD NO MECHANICS TO WORK ON IT, PLUS WHEN HE DID HAVE SOMEONE TO WORK ON IT THEY WOULD LEAVE THE PARTS ON THE WORK TABLE WERE DUST AND DIRT COULD GET TO THEM AND STATE BECAUSE OF THIS I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR SIX INJECTORS WHICH WAS CAUSED BY THE LACK OF WORKMANSHIP OF HIS MECHANIC LEAVING THEM UNCOVERED SO THAT THEY DRIED OUT SO AT THIS TIME WE HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF WHAT WORK WAS DONE OTHER THEN A HEAD GASKET WHICH *** TOOK PICTURES OF AND THE ENGINE BLOCK WHICH *** TOOK PICTURES OF WHICH OTHER MECHANICS STATED ONLY TAKES THREE DAYS TO FIXMY BELIEF WAS THAT HIS DESIRER WAS TO KEEP THE TRUCK, RUN UP THE BILL THIS IS WAY HE KEPT THE TRUCK SO LONG THE AMOUNT HE IS ASKING IS SOMEWHERE AROUND $PLUS IF THIS DID NOT FIX THE TRUCK AND IT WAS TO STOP RUNNING HE WOULD WANT 13,000.00, WHICH I WAS TOLD BY OTHER MECHANICS WAS OUTRAGEOUSHE SHOULD PRODUCE THE DOCUMENTS OF THE ALL INVOICES OF WORK THAT WAS SENT OUT AND THE WORK SHEET OF EVER MECHANIC AND THEIR QUALIFICATION WHO WORK ON THIS TRUCKEACH TIME THEY STARTED AND STOP AND THE DATES MY REQUEST TO THIS SOLUTION IS SINCE I LOST OVER TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS OVER THE TWO AND HALF MONTHS HE KEPTED THE TRUCK, HE SHOULD TAKE THE LOSS AND BOTH OF US WALK AWAYI HAVE FIVE WITNESS THAT SPOKE WITH *** AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT'S WAS GOING ON AND WHY IT TOOK SO LONG FOR THE REPAIRS AND THE FACT HE HAD NO ONE TO WORK ON THE TRUCKIF THIS IS NOT RESOLVED I WILL TAKE IT TO COURT AND THEN HE WILL HAVE TO PRODUCE ALL DOCUMENTS TO PROVE WHAT WORK WAS DONE

RE: Mr. [redacted] case#[redacted]
On May 17, 2016 Mr. [redacted] brought his 2008 Freightliner vin# 8L[redacted] into TDC Fleet Services shop for compression into coolant. At that time Mr. [redacted] communicated to [redacted] owner of TDC Fleet Service that unit would not push out coolant while driving...

on flat ground and loaded. He said unit would push coolant out of the reservoir only loaded and pulling up hill. Other than that it was fine. We proceeded to diagnose coolant loss issue by pressurizing the coolant system and running the engine. We noticed after running the engine above 1500 RPM's and coolant system pressurized, the reservoir began pushing coolant out. As per standard diagnostic procedure we eliminated all possible external entry points of pressure into cooling system. The reservoir would still push out coolant under pressure and at 1500 rpm. We advised Mr. [redacted] that the most likely possibility for the excess pressure into the cooling system would be a bad head or head gasket. Mr. [redacted] asked me for and estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. This type of repair is very common and in my 16 years in business, I have a good idea on the cost of their repair. I gave a verbal estimate of $2200.00 to $2800.00 depending on the condition of the parts. Mr. [redacted] then told me that he needed to seek funds to repair it and that he was in no rush for the truck. After waiting for about a week for and answer, Mr. [redacted] gave me the authorization for the repair. At this time, I told him that the technician that was working on his truck was already assigned to another unit and it would be a couple of days before he could resume work on his truck. After 2 days the technician resumed working on Mr. [redacted] truck. We had a lot of time consuming issues with the engine dis-assembly due to corroded fasteners. We advised Mr. [redacted] that we were going to have to replace many fasteners that were breaking off, which he agreed. Once we removed the head we sent it out, as we agreed, to have it checked. The machine shop said that the coppers cooling cups were no good. I advised Mr. [redacted] that the head needed repairs. We had head repaired. Head took two (2) days to get done. When we received the head back, from the machine shop, we proceeded to clean all parts and prepare the engine for assembly. While cleaning for re-assembly, we noticed that the block had damage and the engine cylinders were too low. I called Mr. [redacted] to advise him that the engine was going to need some machine work to completely solve his issues. I advised him that I was going to call a block specialist for a second opinion. Damir from On-Sine came the next day and confirmed that the block needed to be repair. I called Mr. [redacted] again and advised him of what Mr. Damir had said. Mr. [redacted] said he would come to the shop the next week on Monday to see what I was talking about. After showing him, I told him that the best way to fix it was to rebuild the engine. I estimated the repair, with the block machining, would be about $13,500.00 He said to hold on while he sought funding. I never heard from Mr. [redacted] again. I was then contacted by Mrs. [redacted] about 2 weeks later. I had to explain everything to her. She asked how much to tow it out the way it was, I said about $1800.00. She told me she would get in touch as to what they were going to do, because she couldn't get the money to rebuild it. I did not hear back from Mrs. [redacted] for 3 weeks. When she finally did call back she said to just re-assemble it. I told her that there was no warranty if we put it back together. She agreed. We re-assemble the engine with new gasket and head bolts. We replaced all the corroded fastens as we agreed. After re-assembly we found that the unit had no power. We checked for all faults and turbo issues, we found a bad turbo boost sensor and a bad egr cooler plate. We replaced both but still unit had low power. I called and advised Mrs. [redacted] that since this unit had 950,000 miles and it took a long time for them to decide what they were going to do, that the issue with the power was the injectors. I explained to her that the injectors with that many miles and left out of contact with diesel they dry out. I told her the estimate to get them rebuilt was about $2500.00. She said she needed to secure funds. I was then contacted by their back and talked to Jesus [redacted] at (415)479-6530 ex102. Mr. [redacted] approved the injector repairs and the previous repair work and said they would mail a check for a total of $6500.00 We removed and had injectors rebuilt. ASP diesel injection told me that the injectors were very bad and needed extra parts. He had to order the parts and it would take 2 extra days to get them. I advised Mrs. [redacted] that the other option was to buy them from the dealer at the cost of $473.20 each, for a total of $3066.34 plus tax for the set of six. She decided to wait and install their rebuilt injectors. In closing, I did everything that was asked of me. I could not fix a one-million-mile engine for the limited amount of money that they had. If they would have had all the funding to fix it correctly, this job would have been done in 2 weeks at the longest. Mr. [redacted] complaint stated that I had only 1 employee and that he quit, that is not true I have 7 full time technicians and two-part time technicians. I have all payroll records to show proof of this since payroll is done in house. Thank you for allowing me to share my side of the complaint. I believe I should get paid for this repair, since I did show them and explained thoroughly what was needed to do the job correctly. I can present any information from On-Site or ASP Diesel Injection if needed.
