Review: This contractor was hired in spring 2013 to do a large basement remodel project. Part of that project was installing an egress (regulation-sized) window in the basement. Once cold weather came, the window was frozen shut for nearly the entire winter 2013-2014 with, on some days, over an inch thick of ice build up (pictures can be provided). The contractor was contacted several times notifying him of the issue. Documentation of the dates contacted are available. In addition, two (2) window representatives came and assessed the situation. It was agreed that the problem was not with the window itself, rather, the style/design of the window and the installation of it. To add to the problem, during installation the contractor's crew put nail holes in the frame of the window and never attempted to repair the (unwanted) holes. The excess moisture during the winter months is causing mold to grow on the inside wood work. We reached out to our location Builders Association (who this contractor is a member of), and a representative tried contacting the contractor numerous times. He ignored their emails/phone calls just like he has ours.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund for the cost of the window plus the labor cost to install the window. The cost of the window was not broken down in our original contract. The contractor could provide this amount.
