I met with [redacted] Last July. He had dug up his lawn and was attempting to install a sprinkler system himself.  He called our company because he needed a permit to install the system and also had no idea what he was doing.  He said he couldn't spend much.  I said we would help him,...

and install a basic system that would cover the front, back, and left side of the house  lawn area. The area at the left side street would be watered with rotary heads and spray into his existing trees.  He also didn't want the right side of this house watered.  We explained exactly what we were going to do.  He got a written proposal that explained this that he signed.  When the job was completed last September 2016, he wanted to go over the entire system and check each zone and head to see how everything was working.  He took about a half hour to examine everything.  He then paid the balance satisfied.  I explained verbally and in the contract that we needed to perform annual service of winterizing and opening of system for warranty to be in effect.  If not we can't know if the sprinklers are winterized properly, or not at all.  If the turn-on service is not performed, we can't be responsible for improper watering.  We were not called to winterize the system last year, nor to do a turn-on service this year.  We were called last year to perform a back flow test.  After many attempts for payment, we were told by [redacted] that he can't "be bothered with short money." We were called in the summer of 2017 to finally pay for the back flow test because [redacted] needed a visit to replace a broken head.  This broken head was part of the zone that he is stating was not watering the trees properly.  Also the timer settings were set up all wrong, with insufficient watering.  The zone watering several new trees that he installed this summer ( almost 1 year after sprinkler installation) had a broken head, so it was not watering at all.  [redacted] is now stating that we did not install a proper sprinkler system!  He wants more water for new trees he installed after the sprinkler system was installed, and not maintained properly.  I said to him if he wants more water to go directly on newly planted trees he will need to properly maintain and run his system, and also install a new zone of drip irrigation.  But he did not want to pay for this.  He wants it done at no charge.  I explained that he did not pay for what he's asking, but he refuses to understand.My company has many, many satisfied and happy customers that we would be happy to provide upon request. It is our top priority to perform quality work and ensure the customer is satisfied.  We will not however be intimidated by unreasonable people such as [redacted] who are completely wrong.
