T & E Flooring Contractors Reviews (5)

Review: On August 17th, 2015, my husband and I purchased 3 types of tile and grout from Carpet, Tile & Flooring Depot in Miramar. We were told on Monday 8/17 that we would be notified of the products arrival dates and pick up locations. We didn't hear back from the company on Tuesday, 8/18 so we contacted Carpet, Tile & Flooring Depot and were able to secure the pick up date which was 8/21. On 8/21, my husband arrived at the pick up location for the materials and was informed that the tile was on back order until mid September. Due to our construction time line, we cancelled the order and decided to use another company. We inquired about a refund and were told that we needed to work with the salesperson that sold us the product. Unfortunately, when my husband stopped into the store on several occasions, the salesman wasn't on the premises. He then attempted to speak with a store manager and was referred to the accounting department. The accounting department informed him a few days later after he called again that they weren't able to process the refund because they didn't have our credit card number. He gave them the information they requested and was told that the refund would be processed. It is now September 14th and after numerous attempts to collect our refund, we have been unsuccessful. This company has been extremely difficult to deal with and when we have been able to speak with someone, we are referred to the accounting department. Today, 9/14, I called the main store in San Diego. [redacted] was willing to help me with this dilemma and called the Miramar location. She spoke with [redacted] who called me back at 2:30 p.m. to tell me that accounting could only be reached during their office hours. Apparently, their office hours must end prior to 2:30 p.m. She was unable to give me any information. I am still going to keep trying to pursue a refund, but I don't want any other customers to have to experience these poor business practices.Desired Settlement: My husband and I expect to be refunded for the cancelled order. Carpet, Tile & Flooring Depot owes my husband and I $741.82 plus tax. I would also like this to be resolved by the end of the business day no later than Wednesday 9/16/2015.

Response:

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but as soon as I received a request for a refund it was processed. I do apologize for our Miramar location taking so long to get it to the accounting department but the refund has been processed on 9/18/15.

Re: Complaint ID# [redacted]

To whom it may concern,

This customer brought his own measurements and wanted us to order his cabinets. We

did as he asked. When his cabinets came in, they did not fit and he wanted us to re-

order his cabinets. The cabinets are made to order and cannot be returned and since

the measurements were based on what he gave us, in order for us to order some more

he would need to pay. He was not willing to pay for another set of cabinets therefore

we cannot order them. Also, he never gave us the opportunity to try and help him after

the fact so there really is not anything we can do. This was not our error, it was his

error.

Thank you.

Review: I purchased floor tile on 11/24/12 from [redacted] at Carpet, Tile & Flooring Depot. [redacted] explained that she had not ordered this tile previously & was not sure how many boxes we would actually need for the flooring pattern (she used a template the company provided). She explained that she would order at least 2 extra boxes of tile to make sure we didn't run short. Knowing that tile usually can't be returned, I asked her if they would take those 2 boxes back if they were unused & boxes unopened.

[redacted] stated they would be glad to take those 2 boxes back if unopened. Unfortunately I didn't get that in writing but just took her at her word.

When we finished the project 5/12, we actually had 4 unopened boxes of tile, so I called her to let her know I would be returning the 2 boxes we had discussed. She told me she would need to check with their supplier & get back to me. When I called her again 2 weeks later she explained that the supplier would not take the 2 boxes back since it was over 1 month since purchase, although she did not have that as a condition initially.Desired Settlement: Return of 2 unopened boxes of tile for promised refund of $111.96 plus tax.

Review: On 10/20/15 I returned 4 pieces of floor molding that my installer could not use. After waiting several weeks and multiple phone calls and texts to the sale manager, [redacted], they refuse to credit my [redacted] for the amount of $180. plus tax. This business has very poor customer service. I have asked to talk to a store manager or someone in charge to resolve this problem and I always got referred me to Mr. [redacted] who does not return my phone calls. The office person is rude and very unprofessional. They are only nice to you when they want your business.Desired Settlement: A refund or credit to my [redacted] for the cost of the floor moldings $180. plus tax.

I'm sorry about the service that you received. As soon as Mr. [redacted] sent over the refund request to us here in accounting a credit was issued. Thank you.

Review: To whom it may concern,

August of last year I contracted this business to lay down tile in my front patio. Contractor came out mentioned everything they would do and how it would get done. When the worker came he started laying the tile different than originally stated. I called and owner/contractor came and inspected and said that that is how he would have done it. The work continued and ended. I was unsatisfied with the work. I informed them of this. I called them back to see if they could do another job which I thought would be unrelated. They quoted me as well as other people and come to find out that the tile should have never been layed due to the foundation not being stable and they did not lay the tile properly with hardy backer. Pro Tile quoted me another price to fix the base. Not knowing that they should have rejected the job in the first place, I didn't have money to pursue the issue. By January the grout had come so loose that after the rain as we stepped on the tile we can see the water come out. After repeatedly calling them original contractor came and said he would order commercial grout to fix patches. After three weeks I called them back and they said the grout just arrived. Someone came in to patch and was gone. It is now June and since March I have been calling them to come and fix the tile because they patching they did did not work and now it is worse than before. I have tile that fell off and with the recent rain more water getting in. I finally asked to talk to the manager and he said he couldn't do anything about the matter I had to talk to owner/contractor. After repeated calls and messages to the office and his personal line I still get no response and I'm worried they are waiting me out until my warranty expires in August. I have caller the gentleman worker so many times. I am at a loss and my deck could be getting worse by the minute. I asked for my money back and still no response. I don't trust this company.Desired Settlement: I expect a full refund and if they want to take their tile back they can as long as they leave my deck with well layed out waterproofing (on their expense) that was there before they came out, in order for there to be no further damaged until I find someone else to fix the problem.

Response:

The customer contracted us to install tile on her existing balcony, which already had tile on it. She told our contractor that the balcony was fairly new and had already been waterproofed by her previous contractor who originally built her balcony. Apparently she started having problems with her balcony after the rains that we had, and that is when she called us to come out and check the tile and the structure. Our contractor checked the structure at that point. Our contractor then told the customer that whomever did her balcony, did not water proof it correctly and the strength was not properly reinforced. Our contractor then told her he could give her an estimate to reinforce the structure and water proof it correctly and she said that she was going to get other estimates. So ultimately, what it comes down to is that we did the job we were hired to do, and the issues she is having are a result of the previous work she had done with a different contractor.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The statement is wrong. I never had tile before that is why we asked this company to install. The previous contractor did work to the already existing patio above the garage. The owner/contractor came and inspected and told us he would lay out additional waterproofing because what was there was not sufficient. He would also lay out hardibaking and this is not visible in the tile that has already come out. When called back the owner/contractor then looked at the garage again and then mentioned that it wasn't stable and that he would get me another quote to fix the issue and refill he tile with retail grade grout. The following week someone came wile we were out and just filled the gaps of a few tile grout gaps and not the entire patio. Now less than a year later 80% of the grout is out and tiles are coming off. I have repeatedly tried to get someone to come out and fix the problem from this company and I continue to get no response. I can have the other contractor here for them to discuss each others concerns. I am at a loss and out of money.

Regards,

Business

Response:

There was no tile and it was already water proofed. We were contracted to install tile on the existing patio. When we went back to check, after the customer called, our contractor checked the beams and posts on the structure and noticed that the structure was not stable. We told the customer the patio had to be reinforced and she should call the contractor that had built it to go and reinforce it for her right away because this would make the tile start cracking with the expansion of the wood. We actually went back to give her an estimate after she said her contractor wasn't available and gave her a price to reinforce the structure, but she said she didn't have the money to do it at that time.
