T & G Painting

Review: T & G Painting of 122 West Cypress Road, Toms River, NJ 08753 was contracted to prep and paint my exterior wooden deck patio with [redacted] brand DeckOver paint. T & G Painting was suggested to us by a former customer of theirs who highly recommended them. T & G Painting provided a job quote/price that included surface prep (which they stated consisted of scraping and removing old paint) along with applying two coats of paint using their recommended paint product. T & G Painting stated stated that they have utilized [redacted] brand DeckOver paint many times previously and highly recommend that paint product due to its durability. After the contract was agreed upon, the paint contractor responded to my residence on the scheduled date and power washed my deck. They utilized a leaf blower to dry the deck and then painted two coats of deck paint all in one day. T & G Painting demanded payment on that date stating that they have completed their job. After payment, T & G Painting informed me that [redacted] brand DeckOver paint comes equipped with a twenty-year (20) warranty and assured me that their paint job would be long lasting: "years."A few days had elapsed, and several areas on the deck had already begun to peel off. Attempts were made to contact T & G Painting, specifically, the company owner named "[redacted]." "[redacted]" was explained that their employees did not prep the wood deck correctly. His staff did not remove all the old loose paint as was required, and then painted two coats of paint without adequate drying time in between each layer. "[redacted]" stated that he would have to come an examine the deck. Days passed and "[redacted]" never showed up. After several additional telephone calls and follow up text messages, "[redacted]" no longer is taking my calls and has never responded back to repair the deck with the paint that he stated comes equipped with twenty-year (20) warranty.Total cost of paint job: ($950.00) for a 15'x 20' wood deck.Desired Settlement: T & G Painting should remove all areas of peeling paint, and repaint the surface where required.
