Currently having a home built by TK Constructors. To say the least, this has been one of the worst experiences of my life. At ten weeks after the contracted completion date, still not complete or closed. There seems to be no organization towards progress. However, the blame game and deflection of responsibility seems to be a specialty with TK. Promises are broken, timelines are useless and the worst is probably their lack of attention to detail. It is as if everyone has a separate job, but no one oversees the overall process. Therefore, no one is held accountable. These are "cookie cutter" houses that they build over and over again. I thought they would have the process perfected. I was wrong. I'm still not sure if their biggest problem is arrogance or incompetence. In the end, as the customer, I pay the price for there screw ups. It is my hope that anyone that reads this, will do their due diligence in contracting a builder. We thought we did.....dig deeper. We spoke to private contractors, who would have built what we wanted. However, their timeline was 8-10 months. Here we are at 8 months. It has been an expensive lesson learned.
To be clear, TK's lack of ownership to any and all issues is nonexistent. Read the contract carefully because they pretty much handcuff you from any legal recourse. All rules by contract are against the buyer. I was aware because I read the contract. My mistake was trusting them to do what they said they would do. They promise to buy your home back if you're not satisfied. Well, I am not satisfied, but this house is on our three acre lot. They don't have enough money to buy what this lot and location means to me. Also, There is a limit to what they will pay you for.
The next question on this form of how likely I am to recommend TK is clear. I would not recommend TK, but I will share my experience with anyone and everyone.
In closing, I have to say the house looks good. If there had been any organization, attention to detail and proper scheduling, we could have been closed and moved in weeks ago. Currently we have spent over four thousand dollars in unforeseen expenses such as rent and storage fees since passing the contracted completion date.
