T. Larue Painting, Inc.

Earlier this year, we hired T. Larue Painting to stain approximately 18 interior doors and an equal number of window jambs. At the agreed on date, the owner, Doug [redacted], arrived with two young assistants in tow. When the estimate was accomplished, Mr H[redacted] had been accompanied by another professional painter, leading one to assume that all work would be done by professionals, this was not to be the case however.
The young assistants had apparently never stained wood before, Mr H[redacted] explained the process and put them to work with a paint brush, as if they were painting walls. They were unaware that stain should be wiped down after application and worked to achieve an even tone. They were also unaware that they needed to tape and mask finished flooring, walls and fixtures. Their boss, Mr H[redacted], never showed or instructed them in the most commonsense measures to protect surrounding surfaces and fixtures. We spent a great many hours bringing in other stainers to advise us on repairing the damage to our home. Nearly all recommended complete replacement of the doors, as they could not be economically repaired.
After contacting the company with our complaint and pictures showing the extensive damage, they stated they were unwilling to pay to repair the damage. We were forced to file a small claims complaint in an attempt to have T. Larues insurance pay to fix the damage they caused our home.
