In the beginning of 2015, we were in the market for a used CAT excavator with less than 7,operating hoursT-Quip had one advertised with 6,hours on itWhen we called about it, the T-Quip general manager said the hours were as listed, the machine was in excellent running condition, and it had no leaks
When we purchased this machine from T-quip and it was delivered, the main boom cylinders were leaking internally and needed to be repackedWithin hours of operation, we discovered numerous leaks and the engine would not run above an idle speedWe got a CAT mechanic to look at it and diagnose the problemsHe hooked up to the machine's computer and discovered that it did NOT have the advertised 6,operating hours on it, but had 10,operating hours insteadWe would never have considered buying a machine with that many hours on it, and we paid considerably more than a machine with over 10,hours would normally sell for
T-Quip would not answer repeated phone calls or emailsWe could get absolutely no response from them regarding the issues we were having with this machine
We have since filed a lawsuit against T-Quip after spending over $38,on repairs, having lost about months of downtime, having spent almost $15,in equipment rental to cover the downtime, having spent about $25,more than the average cost of an equivalent machine, and being stuck with a machine we don't want
As part of discovery, we learned that T-Quip purchased this machine at auction with more hours on the meter than T-Quip advertised it having, and that there are other stories of shady dealings by T-QuipThe owner and general manager are known to have "dicey" reputations
We were initially willing to return the machine for a refund, but could not get any responseSo we were stuck with it and are now looking to recover all of our costs and penalties
I would never, ever deal with T-Quip againI hope this review helps anyone else to do the same
