I took my Ranger to Transmission Experts to rebuild my transmission back in 2007. That transmission (the original stock transmission) had 225k miles put on it. Late April 2014, my truck began shuddering when it was put in reverse/drive. A local mechanic took a look at it and diagnosed the problem as the transmission was failing. At this point, only seven years later, the truck had only 30k miles put on it. I took it to Transmission Experts on Pacific Hwy on May 1st and let them know the transmission needed to be checked as it should not have failed in that time frame. The man at the desk said he would test the transmission and he would know for sure what the problem was by that afternoon. I never received a phone call.

A few business days later, I phoned Transmission Experts to see what he had found. The woman who answered said he hadn't gotten around to doing any tests but he did drive the truck and could not replicate the shuddering problem. She said she'd call with any updates. Never heard from them.

More days passed with no communication from this company. I called once again and apparently all the tests went fine and my transmission was in perfect health. Going with a gut feeling that they were cutting corners, I asked them to service the truck forcing them to actually check the transmission. I did specify at this point that when they serviced my truck to make 100% sure they were putting synthetic oil back in my truck.

Sure enough, my transmission needed to be rebuilt! (Amazing. I could have picked up my truck with a clean bill of health if I didn't have them service it). The man who called (yes, this is the FIRST time they called me) said the transmission needed to be rebuilt and it would take about a week. I asked if they were for sure going to put synthetic oil back in my truck as specified when I asked it to be serviced and he was not planning to do so!

A week later I called to see when it was to be done. They said it would be delayed a couple days. A couple days later I called again, it was to be delayed ANOTHER couple days. This occurred many times - and not once did they give me a courtesy call saying it would be delayed. I had to call them for any information.

FINALLY, I called and the guy said he'd have it complete that afternoon. Guess what? It was delayed again. I voiced my irritation and informed them I was beyond tired of waiting.

I called the next day saying I was going to pick up my truck at noon and they said it should be done then. It wasn't done at that time, it was still later. While waiting for my truck to be done, I asked if I could pay. The woman took my check and called a third party who claimed my check wouldn't clear. I had the money in my account and triple checked the accounts with the bank the day before. Transmission Experts still wouldn't budge because the third party declined me. Livid at this point, I called my bank manager, had my phone on speaker, and the bank manager said the money was in there and there was absolutely no way I could be denied for the amount due. Transmission Experts would not accept my check because the third party didn't accept the check so therefore they wouldn't accept it - even though the money was there. (And according to my bank, they do not give out any information to third parties. This business did not even call my bank to confirm the money was in my account. The whole "third party" part of this is ridiculous). Furious, I had to go get cash to pay for their so-called service. I asked for a discount for all the trouble they caused me but the guy did not take me seriously, would not make eye contact, nor would he respond. He just nodded to my keys on the counter so I took my keys and left.

Once I got in my truck, it was HORRIBLE. It reeked of smoke, grime, and Lord knows what else. There were grease marks everywhere (by everywhere I mean there were grimy hand prints all over the inside of my truck, the steering wheel was filthy, there were grimy hand prints on the hood of my truck, the tailgate, and all over the doors). My seats, steering wheel, and mirrors were all moved. On top of that there seemed to be a giant soda spill on the front fender.

In conclusion, my experience here was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The transmission clearly wasn't built correctly the first time they did it as it only went 30k miles before failing, they lied constantly, would not listen to what I wanted done on my truck, delayed the due date numerous times, never gave me a courtesy call to let me know the pick-up time was delayed, didn't even attempt to clean my truck, etc. I am so upset with this company that it's almost beyond words. At this point, I am forced to get my truck detailed because of the grime they left in it. I will never recommend this company nor will I ever return for any kind of service.
