T R West Reviews (%countItem)

I contacted Mr. on August 7,2018 to see if he knew anyone that could replace the insulation in our basement after we had a small leak repair in out basement and we had a restoration company come in after contacting our insurance provider. The restoration company recommended and gave us the contact info for Mr. to repair the cracks in the foundation wall and *** and I hired Mr. to come and do the repair. We then got an estimate from the restoration company to repair our house back to pre leak status which we felt was kind of high at that time. I reached out to Mr. to see if he knew anyone that could replace the insulation at a cheaper cost and he said that he would be able to repair this for us. I then also asked Mr. if he would be able to also fix the carpet and baseboards that were removed by the restoration company as well and Mr. replied on August 8'th 2018 and described to me what kind of insulation I would need and the process of the install and said that he could also fix the other items as well if we wanted and then at the end of the email he said that and I quote I'll be able to pick up and install the insulation blanket and install the underlay if you want . I explained in my emails that I would go about purchasing the underlay for the carpet and the baseboards since I was under the impression that he would pick up and install the insulation as he said he would. On August 8,2018 I emailed Mr. to see how much he would charge us and he said that he would charge us $350 for just the insulation reinstallation which I was under the impression that included the price of the insulation he was picking up for us plus his labour cost as he had told us in another email that the insulation would run us about $150 and I thought the other $200 was he installation cost. We agree to go ahead with this as Mr. said he would be picking up the insulation and installing it for us. We agreed to a date of Sept 8, 2018 for the install and Mr. showed up at our house with another worker that he brought that I was not advised of that we would be paying for his time as well and on top of that Mr. showed up with no insulation to install and said that he thought I was buying the insulation. I tried to explain to Mr. that he said he would be picking up and installing the insulation so that is why I did not go about buying the insulation. Mr. denied that he ever said that he would be picking up the insulation and charged *** and I a charge of $160 because they drove from Waterloo Ontario to our house at *** that is only 30 minutes away and 30 miles in total. *** offered him a more reasonable resolution due to the confusion offering to compensate Mr. for the gas he used to travel to our house but he told *** that his minimum cost was $160 and he would not accept anything less. *** and I even offered to run to *** and purchase the insulation that Mr. said he would be showing up with but he said he had 2 other jobs in Waterloo and then left with his worker. I then found the email stored on my computer that Mr. sent me indication that he could pick up the insulation and install if we wanted. Mr. then sent me an email saying that he forgot that I had a truck and that he thought I was buying the insulation and that he would pick it up for us as a favour . This was never said to me in any of the emails I have and I have saved all contact between us since I first emailed him. Mr. and his worker made no attempt to resolve this in a better manner and no work was performed by Mr. and his worker but he still charged *** and I $160.

Desired Outcome

I would like Mr, *** to acknowledge that his communication skill *** and that this so called miscommunication was a result of him not communicating properly. *** Mr. *** keep a small portion of the money that he charged us for the cost of the gas he used to travel to our place and return the rest as it was his confusion that caused this situation. Our time is also valuable and we waited around thinking that this job would be completed today and it was not.
