Our technician, Andy, visited the home and discovered that the only evidence of a water leak was a very small amount of water outside the...
home before starting a full test. This was after determining that there was no curb stop (outdoor meter) to use to verify any outdoor leak. Our technician looked this all over with the homeowner, Andy. The homeowner did dig up with a small gardening trowel to see if they could see anything. Our technician told Andy, the homeowner, that because it was before the meter which is in the home, that there was not a definite way to determine if this was an actual leak instead of any other number of possibilities of why water was there. The homeowner wanted us to do the full test anyway. Our technician told them what he was going to do and they agreed. Unfortunately, after our technician completed the test what he had warned them about prior to starting is what was discovered, and that it was not conclusive due to the nature of their home and the leak not making much noise.
The biggest challenge that we saw was that the homeowner waited over two months to call this in to us. We can still refund some of their money, if that is truly what will make them happy. We stand behind our work, and the fact that even with our sophisticated equipment no large leak was present. That is why our technician told them before he started that it may not yield a result that they would be happy with. Our technician was at the [redacted] residence for over an hour and a half and told the homeowner everything he could to try to help.
Ultimately, if they would like $255 back, I will authorize this. The fact of the matter is though that we did exactly what we told them we would do for the $330 and they told us to go ahead, even after our technician warned them that he might end up empty handed.
