All obligations were met at the time of construction.Concrete pavement cracks sometimes and in the warranty that is given at the time of the estimate it says T&T Concrete will grind and fill the cracks that are 1/inch wideAt the time I viewed the cracks they were not 1/inch wide.We have no further obligaton, nor have we implied such a thingThe driveway is 100% functional as a driveway should be Tony M [redacted]

The one and only time I got a call, I did come to see you and told you, I would grind and fill the cracks like it says in the warranty which you were given at the time of the estimate, before you hired me, but you said your wife wanted a new driveway and thats not possible.Your concrete cracked
because there is a lot of wetness in the ground and with the very cold last two winters, when the ground freezes it expands and makes randomn pressures forcing an upward movement in some spots which disrupts the subgrade and causes the cracks , so it is the freezing moisture , not the workmanship that causes the cracks.hub

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] if the concrete or the job was compromised to a faulty PVC blue pipe system( code approved ) not a tile system, then the concrete product should not have been installed until a satisfactory drainage was achievedHowever there never is any water visible in the area or in the collection / clean out boxes which demonstrates adequate drain system. The inspector investigated and reported the gap between concrete and the substrate, indicating the base settled, not opinion, documented. The control joints should have held any cracking in check, not allow the next area to crack, obviously the joint failed If the cracks could be notched out and repaired, this might be an option, however this was never brought to the table

The concrete driveway was installed properly.
Pete's claim that the inspecter FELT the subgrade was wrong is sort of interesting because THE PROFESSIONAL as he said should know not to make an assumption based on WHAT HE FELT.We use compaction equipment that has gotten us 97% compaction on...

projects. I will, however respond with my assumption(and I stress an assumption based on limited knowledge) on the subgrade. In November we had several feet of snow, and than it all melted and saturated the ground, and than the wet ground froze worse than ever in the second coldest winter coupled with the fact that the ground beneath the driveway holds more than normal amount of water and when the ground freezes it expands wildly and some areas expand more than others and the area that they said sunk actually was closer to the original elevation and the frozen areas around it had pushed the concrete up and that is what causes the cracking. [redacted] is aware of these possibilities and that is why he upgraded to 5 inches of concrete instead of the usual 4 inches. He also has a drain tile system in place but it is not low enough to take away all water that may freeze and expand.
[redacted] also said that the control joints failed but his reason for that is not a subject of control joint failure.
There is aspecific warranty in place which says all cracks !/8 of an inch wide or wider will be grinded and filled. When I examined the driveway the cracks were not 1/8 of an inch wide and he indicated he wanted the driveway replaced and I said "no"
I'm not happy about the cracks either but thats concrete in a wet freeze thaw envirnment.

The amount of cracks and where / how they traveled through the controlled check point is what the issue is. As stated in original meeting in April of 2015 that both of us need to work together to resolve this issue and to investigate possible  ways to eliminate further damage. TnT seems to be a professional team, however when an issue does arise,  I feel as the company agreeing to do a job, they are obligated to work with a customer even though  they do not feel it is their problem.  If I was able to I would have done this, but this needs the crew to help out on the part they did.  Lets just work together and put this behind us. I am willing to split the cost of a repair as the damage will only continue to get worse.  The concrete should last a long time, yes some cracks will always appear however not to the magnitude that has happened...
