T & T Hardwood Floors Reviews (1)

Review: T & T Hardwood Flooring installed new flooring in a portion of our downstairs, then sanded, stained & finished the entire downstairs (+/-1500 sq ft) in 10/2013. They applied 3 coats of oil based polyurethane. We requested a satin finish. They applied two coats of semi-gloss with no sanding or steel wool between 1st & 2nd coat. They then sanded the second coat before applying the final coat, using the satin finish. The owner instructed us to notify him when our base boards were installed & he would return to stain and install the toe molding and touch-up any problems. Within 6-8 month, wood filler that had been put into seams & over nails began to come out. By 12-14 months, the polyurethane & stain had worn off several ares of high traffic, exposing the natural wood in front of the main sink, the oven and the refrigerator, as well as several of the stairs up to the 2nd floor. They installed the toe molding in a small office area (stained the wood, but did not put any polyurethane on it). At that time he noted that some of the wood filler had come out, but never indicated what they would do to address that. He also said he would speak to his sales rep from the maker of the polyurethane finish (Minwax) to ask about the wear. After waiting a month or more I left several messages. Eventually T & T told me our 3 dogs are the cause of the problem. I don't agree, as they roam the whole house & the excessive wear is isolated to just the areas I described. I believe the cause is due to: 1) the poly being applied too thinly & the sanding taking off too much, effectively leaving just 1 coat, & 2) their initial sanding of the floors that left ridges at the board seams, creating "high points" where the wearing started & is the worst. At this time, T & T won't return calls nor give us our left over stain, as I've requested in multiple phone messages.Desired Settlement: Ideally, T & T Hardwood Flooring returns our stain & refunds the cost for another company to perform the repairs, as I doubt their skill. If they refuse, then have THEM repair the areas where wood filler has come out & re-sand, stain & refinish the floors where the polyurethane & stain have worn off & where they replace the filler. I would like this to be be performed in a manner standard to the industry; meaning proper thickness of coats & use of sanding/steel wool between coats.
