Review: Grumman boat was brought in for estimate for cosmetic repairs. In speaking with the store's owner and a service technician, price and service time for repairs were agreed... Boat was subsequently dropped off. Upon checking on status of repairs several days later, I was told, by the store owner, that the boat had not even been looked at yet and that it would be at least 10 days till it was looked at and then another 10 days for repairs after that. The original time estimate given to me was a total of 7-10 days from drop off to delivery and the owner knew that we were very time sensitive from the onset. He got upset with me and, to my great surprise, demanded that I come and take the boat off of his premises. He was completely unreasonable and, despite my efforts to calm the situation, wanted the boat picked up. I have never been treated so unprofessionally by any retailer that I have dealt with in my life. We agreed that I would get the boat and that no work should be done on it. I called the shop on the morning of pick up to make sure the boat was accessible and to let them know that I was coming. The clerk told me to come get it. As you might imagine, when I arrived, I was shocked to find that the floor boards of the boat had been ripped out and the boat was in complete disarray and unusable. Being irate, and wanting to avoid any discussion at that time, I took the boat from the property as instructed. When calling the owner later that morning to tell him of my anger and frustration, he immediately told me that I owed him $300 for the "work" the he had done on my boat. This the very work he told me had not been done and that we agreed should not be done. The owner should be PAYING ME for cost to get the boat back in working order and instead, is harassing me calling the other day and saying only "do you have my money?".. He has yet to offer any explanation as to why anything had been done to the boat.. Most ridiculous experience I've had with a retailer of any sort in my life.Desired Settlement: I should not owe a dime to this company and ask that they send to me, in writing, confirmation that there is no balance due for any service. I am considering whether I will seek compensation from them for the repairs now necessary to get the boat back to working condition. All this on top of the fact that their actions will cause my family to miss the remainder of this year's fishing season.
