. *** I was driving by Taco John's ***. I pulled in and ordered a #1 at the drive thru. When the cashier handed me my bag, famished, I reached in and ate a potato ole. It wasn't even warm. So when the cashier gave me my card back, I asked her if Taco John's still makes every order of oles fresh. She asked the female worker on the food line who said yes. I told her that I had gotten two orders of cold oles. She offered to make a fresh batch. I needed to get home to my sick son, and drop off my two children, with me in the vehicle, ***, on the way, by 4:30. It was 4:07. I told the cashier I wouldn't wait for a fresh batch, I was just making them aware they were sending out cold oles. I left with my bag of food. A block later I pulled out one of my tacos. But there was only a giant burrito. Dang it. Normally, I'd eat the burrito and leave it alone. But my appetite was so weak, I knew a simple little onion would end the meal. So I turned around and went back.At the order screen after I was asked "Can I help you'"I replied, "I just came through a minute ago and ordered a number one, but I got a burrito instead."Silence.I said, "I'm the one that got the cold oles."Silence.I said, "Hello'"Silence.Seeing that there were two cars ahead of me, I figured it'd be faster to go inside. So I said, "Hello!" a second time.Silence.So I drove through around the cars and back into the parking lot and parked. I told my two kids I'd be right back. I took my bag of food and went inside. There was a man behind the counter***. He later identified himself to the police as the assistant manager. His arms outstretched on the counter, wide, he was looking right at me.I set the bag of food on the counter. He looked at it and said, "What am I supposed to do with that'"I said, "I ordered a number 1. This isn't a number one."He said, "I'll give you your tacos but you're not getting anymore oles."I thought about that and stated, "Well now that I turned around, came back, and came inside, I feel I should have fresh oles with my fresh tacos."He said, "Nope. You had fresh oles before you drove around the building four times."Exasperated, I demanded my tacos. He said, "When you change your attitude, I'll give your tacos." And rested his hands back on the counter as if waiting for me to make my adjustment.I was shocked.I said, "You can't tell me how to speak or behave over tacos."He said, "This is my store, and I can ask you to leave."I said, "You can't charge me for food and then not give to me!"He said, "Yes I can. This is my store."None of the workers were making the tacos. He was now standing there with his arms folded across his chest.I was angry.I demanded my food. I didnt have time or money or appetite for anything else. I just wanted the tacos I paid for. He threatened to call the cops and have me removed. I felt my pockets and realized my phone was in the car still. I said, "Please! Yes. Call the cops."He did. When the cops answered he told them he had a flagrant customer bothering his customers. I said out loud, "I paid for tacos. He wont give them to me."He told the officer he offered to give me my tacos. I spoke loudly, "Yes, but instead of giving them to me, he stood there and waited for me to adjust my attitude."He did not tell the officers that I had been the one to request their assistance.Officers came in. They didnt even ask my side of the story. They just forceably dragged me out of Taco John's by my arm, took me outside and slammed me hard against the cop car as they cuffed me.*** I was not resisting them. I didnt have the energy for that. But I was pleading with the three officers. I was saying, "Wait. Please. I'm the one that asked him to call you.""My kids are in the car! Wait. My kids are in the car!"As I was saying this, the officer slammed my face into his car. My kids watched it. The officer cuffed me and put me in his car.He asked me if I have family in ***. I don't. He told me I better think of someone to come get my kids and he'd see if they could get social services to clear them.I know one person in ***. We're new here. I called her using my hands from cuffed behind me to try to dial. She didnt answer, but another officer knew her. He offered to go to her house and ask for her help. She agreed. So I was driven away to jail in the back of a police car while my kids were left with officers at Taco John's. The charge is 'unlawful entry by remaining in premises after being asked to leave,' and 'disorderly conduct.'My van was towed to a town 30 minutes away.***I can't believe this happened. This wasn't just a wrong order. This was incredible trauma on my family who was already suffering! At the jail, they took my prints and turned me out into the cold. No car. No kids. No ride. ***I've been strongly instructed to never to set a foot in Taco John's again....I would like some guidance on what my options are. Where can I go from here'The store manager said he has me on camera having an attitude.I did have an attitude. I was sick. Hungry. In a hurry. Some people are grouchy. I'm normally not. But does that yield holding someone's paid-for-food from them and having them arrested'I would like to know if I can have access to the video and audio? I'll be fighting this in court, of course, to have my charges dropped. Thanks for every bit of added energy, time, and attention to this matter. Sincere and Distressed
Product_Or_Service: #1 Two hard shell tacos meal

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I would like my correct order, fresh. And I'd like to hear from the store by letter. My kids and I didn't deserve that.

Taco John's Response • Feb 20, 2020

To whom this may concern,

We sincerely apologize for the negative experience this customer had at our restaurant. After it was brought to our attention that a mistake had been made with the customer's order, we immediately offered to replace her order with the correct items. After receiving the correct food the customer was still not satisfied. She demanded that we call the police and provide the police her name. We complied with her request not knowing five officers would responded to the call. She was aggressive with the officers and was ultimately arrested and removed from the premises. We refunded the customers meal and provided the customers money and receipt to the officers, as she was detained. We also provided meals for her children at no cost as they waited. Our team respectfully tried to correct our mistake and work with the customer towards a resolution. I spoke with the officer on the call and he noted how calm our team was during this interaction and appreciated the professionalism.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
It's a complete lie. I went in because I was given the wrong food. The manager tried controlling and manipulating my behavior by not giving me my food or money back. He then told a heavily one-sided story to the cops. After he watched me get arrested, only then, did he have a cop stuff a receipt and a few dollars in my pocket. The receipt was STILL not the correct order.
I ordered a #1 Two tacos with a small potato ole and a small ***, an additional small potatoes ole. I then made a second purchase of nacho cheese because I forgot to order it at first.
In the bag was two cold oles and a burrito. This is the bag I took inside. I was immediately told I wouldn't get warm oles. I hadn't even mentioned them inside the store. I simply wanted the tacos I ordered. He refused to give them to me right away. The store managers position as I walked into the store was, no.
It was not professionalism.
