Review: Hired Tacos World (which they also go by the name Tacos Town) to cater a party of 200 people. Spoke to [redacted] to go over details. He insisted on a $200 deposit in which we deposited directly in their account after he sent us a signed contract. Called them the day before the party to confirm everything and all was good. The day of the party came and they did not show up. I called them to see where they were and their number was no longer in service. Now I'm trying to find a way to get my money back.Desired Settlement: $200

Review: I hired Tacos World to cater my son's 5th birthday party through the apparent owner known as [redacted]. We were promised a fully catered service for 50 people at the competitive price of $350. I met with him on October 2, 2013 to sign a contract and pay a $150 deposit to secure the event date of November 23, 2013. Unfortunately on the day of our event, he was a no-show. I called him when he was 15 minutes past his contracted start time and [redacted] said he'd have to call back because he had a bad connection (or so he said). A few minutes later, I received a call from an alternate number and was speaking to someone claiming to be [redacted]'s brother. He said they did not have anything booked that day, but then after some debate he said they would call back shortly. After receiving no response, I called back several times to both phone numbers after getting error messages (saying my caller phone number was unrecognizable) and voicemail. I left a message saying we were now 15 minutes away from the start of our party, and am now going to have to make other arrangements to get food served at our party. I then received a voicemail after seeming to have crossed lines in my phone call leaving my message to [redacted]. The voicemail was from [redacted]. He said his brother made a mistake in their computer system and it showed they had no event booked for the day, but that they could try sending someone within an hour and a half. However, I personally spoke with [redacted] over the phone two days before our event to confirm that everything was set. He assured me that everything was good and would see me at the party. Needless to say, we did not have time to wait, so my in-laws had to rush to the nearby market to purchase prepared food so that we could serve our guests in time.I continued to make attempts to contact [redacted] to no avail. I left messages saying that he is in breach of contract and needs to return my $150 deposit immediately, or face legal action.Desired Settlement: I want $300 to settle this dispute for the deposit and damages for the inconvenience and humiliation we suffered in front of our guests. While our guests were very sympathetic and understanding, my wife and I were still very upset as we worked hard to save money for this special event.
