I am new in town and asked for a referral for auto repair from the place where I had my vehicle oiled and lubed. I was referred to Devine Automotive as the owner of the lube shop and the owner of Devine were friends.
I called and made an appointment to have my pick-up assessed. I dropped it of in the early bird drop-off. I was called and given the news that there were three things néeding my attention. I was quoted respective prices for each service, by Trevor. I believe he is one of the owners. My initial impression was that the prices were high. My previous experience on repair pricing was in Idaho so I was unfamiliar with Reno pricing.
I opted to only have Devine replace an oxygen sensor relative to a fault code PO138. I was verbally quoted $130 parts and labor. When I got a call that the work was finished I was told that the cost would be around $215. I don't recall the exact amount.
When I arrived at the shop to pick up my truck, I mentioned that the quote was much less, stating that the estimate was "less than $200."
"Okay, we'll take $200" was the response. During the conversation, it was communicated that the estimate had to have been higher because "Nevada law would only allow 10% more than the estimate". I was then presented a bill for $194.24, which I paid. I wanted to secure my vehicle and leave.
The receipt listed three charges:
Unidentified charge of $110
LEFT REAR O2 SENSOR NP 78.20T
Sales Tax 6.04
The receipt also listed "Drivers rear oxygen sensor is faulty. Estimate $130.00 parts and labor"
When I got back to my office, I called Devine and spoke with Tadd Devine and expressed my dissatisfaction. I told him that I felt cheated. He told me I would need to speak with Trevor as he did the bid. but that he was on the phone with another customer. I replied that it was his name on the sign, not Trevor's. We continued in conversation for a few minutes. He tried to explain the difference in estimate vs. price as a diagnostic and service charge. I indicated that the bill did not list such charges and that none were quoted verbally or in the written quote.
I asked if Trevor were available. I was told that he was not there. I reminded him that he had just told me that he was on the phone with another customer. He told me he wanted to make it right. I told him that the best time to have made it right was when I was in the store. Mr. Devine intimated that he would refund my account as he could use my debit card to do so.
We ended the call. There has been no effort to adjust my bill and refund my account. The service was done on February 3, 2016. Today is February 17th, two weeks later.","neg-1
