To Whom It May Concern,This letter is in response to the customer complaint relayed
to Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts in association with Revdex.com® case number [redacted]. We have reviewed the chain of
events leading to this complaint and would like to apologize for the
misunderstandings in our...

interactions with the [redacted] family. For background: our typical program consists of a 1-year or
8-month contract, under which we charge a monthly rate of $139.00 or $159.00, respectively. Mrs. [redacted] brought her son to try
out lessons at our studio via our quick start program, which includes one
individual lesson, one group lesson, and a uniform, and which typically costs
$19.95, but for which we waived the fee. This waiver is typically granted to
those who later sign up for classes. Her son was nervous trying a group lesson,
so we offered two one-on-one lessons to help him ease into the program. After these individual lessons, Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] son
seemed to be enjoying the program and ready to sign up. Given his initial
anxiety, we offered the [redacted] a special early-termination condition on their
1-year contract, by which the [redacted] would be able to cancel without penalty
within three days of the two-month mark from the signature of the
contract—i.e., the contract having been signed on 20 October 2016, the [redacted]
would be able to cancel without penalty anytime between 20 October 2016 and 23
December 2016. The misunderstanding here appears to have stemmed from the
following:When completing the contract, the Taekwon Cho’s representative who met with Mrs. [redacted] mistakenly entered the monthly fee into the “Program Price” field of the contract, and swapped the entries for “Amount of Monthly Payments” and “Number of Monthly Payments,” such that “Amount of Monthly Payments” was indicated to be “12,” while “Number of Monthly Payments” was indicated to be “$139.00.” Mr. [redacted] states in his complaint that $139.00 is the yearly price, but, as noted above, this is in fact the monthly price. Although an additional statement below these fields read “I agree to pay the amount budgeted shown in 12 monthly installments of $139.00…,” and although in verbal discussions $139.00 was presented as the monthly price, we understand that this presented conflicting information. As far as we can determine, this discrepancy arose due to a language barrier problem, wherein the Taekwon Cho’s representative did not carefully read or comprehend the meaning of the different fields of the contract.When speaking with the Taekwon Cho’s representative, Mrs. [redacted] seems to have misconstrued the cancellation policy as including a refund of all services already rendered. This may also have been a result of a language barrier between Mrs. [redacted] and the Taekwon Cho’s representative with whom she spoke. In fact, the early-cancellation terms added to the contract do not contain any mention of a refund. The $139.00 monthly fee was billed following contract signature as advance payment for the upcoming month.Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts is committed to
maintaining a good relationship with its customers and with the local
community. As a remedy for the above problems, we propose the following
actions:Given the misunderstanding that has occurred, Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts shall refund in full the [redacted] that is in dispute. Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts has already refunded the amount [redacted] equivalent to the number of classes the [redacted]’ son participated in before the cancellation, in the form of a check mailed to Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]. The outstanding balance to be refunded is therefore [redacted] Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts shall review its membership contract with all employees to ensure that all future contracts are completed accurately and to the fully-informed agreement of both parties.Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts shall include a description of its contract cancellation policy on its website.Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts shall clarify in its description of the quick-start trial that the $19.95 fee is waived only upon signature of a membership contract, in order to avoid confusion with future customers around the word “free.”In addition to the specific actions given above, Taekwon
Cho’s Family Martial Arts may pursue other actions targeted toward reducing
potential confusion when dealing with customers.Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts welcomes any further
constructive criticism or additional details that Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] can
offer with respect to their stated experience of subpar service and harassment,
as we are not aware of what prompted these statements. Again, Taekwon Cho’s Family Martial Arts is committed to
maintaining a good relationship with its customers and with the local
community, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint.

 would like to bring the fact that the “contract” from Master Cho’s states that monthly installments will be made for the tender of funds for services rendered, however, Master Cho’s charged payment in full, for an entire year without proper authorization. While we understand that we could contact our bank in regards to this, and do intend to do so, the unscrupulous methods utilized by Master Cho’s should be investigated by State agencies as to unfair billing, or fraudulent actions under [redacted] § 18.2-195. The installment plan on the contract specified specifically that there was monthly billing, based on twelve (12) payments divisible by one-hundred thirty-nine ($139.00), however, the full one-hundred thirty-nine was charged to my card on file on 24 October, 2016 without authorization for the total annual charge to be made. Master Cho's, even when spoken to, refused to refund funds, and refuses to abide by their verbal and written agreement. Upon speaking with Master Cho’s representatives, I was informed that the uniform was free and the first one-on-one lesson was free, and the first group lesson was free. Additionally, we (my spouse and I) were informed that if we were not fully satisfied within two (2) months, we would receive a full refund. While the refund policy itself cannot be found online, an overview of the agreement specifying the free uniform and lessons can be found at the Website for the specific location at: http://www.taekwoncho.com/quick.html They refuse to refund monies even after services being terminated within one (1) month.I received a partial payment from the company in the form of a check.
