TAG Mechanical Systems, Inc. Reviews (8)

Revdex.com spoke with the consumer today and he stated that Tag Mechanical is making efforts to resolve the complaint, however he is unhappy as time does not appear to be of the essence for Tag in fixing the issues He stated that they have been working on it when they are on other jobs in the area, but they are attempting to resolve the complaint

Hello,TAG is committed to doing a quality job to the highest standard. Customer satisfaction is the highest priority at TAG Mechanical. This particular project has little to do with quality, everything installed was done with satisfaction and if it wasn't TAG worked to fix the situation. There...

came a situation where there was a miscommunication about the level of spray foam, not quality of the spray foam. The level of spray foam applied was under question for an extended period of time with TAG always willing to fix the situation, with no regard to how much extra time, money and effort it took to make it right. It became such an issue that it took TAG an extended period of time to fix the situation. Currently, TAG has oversprayed the entire house, above and beyond the contractual amount to satisfy all parties. TAG Mechanical is always willing to correct anything that is not satisfactory to the customer.TAG Management

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First and foremost there are many lies in Mr. [redacted] response.  It was Court [redacted]  VP of Tag who convinced us to use the open loop or "pump and dump" as the closed loop system was cost prohibitive.  I NEVER said our well was the best in the county nor did I say it can produce 30 gallons per minute.   I had no clue how many gallons our well could produce.  I always said before this horrible nightmare with Tag, that our well could handle normal household uses, including showering in multiple bathrooms, running the dishwasher, doing laundry and even watering the yard all at the same time.    It was actually [redacted] Well Service who came over twice to meet with Tag's Techs and I believe with Mr. [redacted] and told him that the size of the pump is rated for 30 gallons per minute.   It was 1 1/2 years later that Mr. [redacted] and his experts finally figured out it was the pipe size that restricted the water flow to a rate that wouldn't handle normal house hold uses along with heating or cooling our home.   Also, I never said "that the well was good for it"   In Mr. [redacted] own words on his response "We did not check that fact and this is were we are in error".  This error on not finding out the well pipe size is the complete ineptness and lack of due diligence on Mr. [redacted], Court [redacted] and his technicians.  My wife and I are not mechanical engineers nor are we experts in heating and cooling systems.  Another fabrication from Mr. [redacted] is that we agreed to pay for the excavation and back fill for the closed loop system.   This was never discussed by anyone at Tag with us.   The only item we agreed to was to restore the landscaping.  However the excavator hired by Tag after one  bucket hit bedrock and the closed loop system was not feasible.   Another fabrication from Mr. [redacted] is the time line on when we wanted the system out we wanted it out over a year ago and were very vocal about it, however Tag wanted to try to make it work.
As far as the payments go we made two $7000 payments totaling $14,000 in good faith to two different credit cards, one a MasterCard and one an American Express. Another misrepresentation of the truth and extremely offensive is that I'm in the business of credit card processing and  I
circumvented the system to get $7000 back.   Obviously Mr. [redacted] is completely ignorant of how disputes work with credit cards.   We both filed disputes respectively, [redacted] card was out of the time frame for a dispute and MasterCard could not refund her $7000.  I also disputed my charge with AMEX and it was within the time period and my $7000 was refunded as nobody from Tag replied to the dispute.
Again, due to Tag's ineptness and lack of due diligence to make sure a $24,000 open loop or closed system would work before starting the project we would not be at this point 2 years later.  We are the ones that have been completely inconvenienced.   Now Mr. [redacted] thinks that $7000 paid in good faith he wants to keep  $4500 for and in his words  "whatever you want to call it"  It is absurd.
We also told Mr. [redacted] on many occasions and other staff of Tag that we would forgive the other $1700 that we had to pay for restoration of the landscaping that Court [redacted] said in his own words "we will restore it to its original condition" at the time we originally met with Court for the initial install.
We want our $7000 deposit and holding tank back and then and only then can Tag get their equipment.
Also I have not used social media as of yet and the people I have talked to were told the truth about this 2 year disaster with not only Mr. [redacted] but his company

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The quality of the spray foam is indeed one of the many issues at hand with TAG Mechanics. The person applying the spray foam is the fleet machanic and hasn't spray foamed in over 4 years. The spray foam equipment was in disrepair and was sent out for repairs after I first made the complaint internally to TAG. If TAG had any over sight on the project that was knowledgable of spray foam they would have immediately known there was a problem. Not only was the equipment in disrepair, the pressure that they were applying the foam with was way too high, temperature was also too high. All TAG had to do was see the crappy instalation of the foam being applied in very narrow streams as opposed to a wide spray.
I also fail to see a quality job when TAG only have one person spraying the foam. There were at least 3 times where the spray foam material ran out and it caused seepage of rasin. This is when the 2 materials are mixed together and one runs out and causes an oil like residue because the materials aren't mixed together properly. The spray foam needs to be removed, properly cleaned and resprayed.
Also in the garage ceiling TAG brought in portable spray foam containers to spray the ceiling. This also caused issues as the spray foam started falling out of the cavities in chunks has it was being applied correctly.
Then a tin knkocker ( a person that makes duct work for TAG) was brought in to apply spray foam around the windows and doors. He had no clue what to do or how to do it. They sent him out to Home Depot to pick up spray foam cans and start. He had no idea that you had to lock the windows before applying the foam nor did he know that he needed to close and lock the doors before spraying the foam. This caused time consuming reqord of the foam to be removed in places and apply it properly.
Then there is the over spray on the front and side of the house on pre-painted siding that to date still has not be cleaned up by TAG.
TAG spray foam the basement walls, for almost 6 weeks i've been waiting for the walls to be painted with a flame rdant so that it too meets code.
The also had no clue as to the proper codes that the foam needed to be applied at which was very clearly printed on the home design plans by my architect. I found it interesting that they quietly wen to my architect after the issues with the spray foam job and asked for his requirements.
I also fail to understand that they think this is a quality job when we still don't have a proper sign off from the town of van buren code inspector particularly dealing with the bonus room.  The job still does not meet code and the don't have the resources to complete the issues that would take no longer than a day.

TAG Management

I met TAG at the home show in Syracuse NY & I worked with a sales rep Court R[redacted]. The company seemed legit & the people seemed knowledgeable.
On Feb 11, 2015 Court wrote me an e-mail re-assuring me that they can save me money.
At first, Court was very responsive with phone calls, e-mails, & even text messages. On March 26, after lots of e-mails, a few meetings, & many phone calls - I made the decision to use TAG Mechanical to install my HVAC, Spray my entire roof with closed cell spray insulation, & install a 9.1kw Solar PV Solar System which consisted of 34 panels.
On April 13, I messaged Chris (former employer of TAG) & Said “Hey Chris, I've been thinking long and hard about this and I've been trying to get a hold of Court since last Monday. If I can't even get a 4k refund with the current plans for insulation with what we have worked out on quotes, I'm going to have to stop any kind of work with you guys period. It's really unfortunate that Court pretty much guaranteed all the grants and refunds and now seems like after I qualified for the loan, one by one the grant and refunds seem like they were a scam in order to suck me in... now I'm not qualified for the hemi grant, now the additional 4k that we discussed, and now I'm skeptical on the solar grants.... I want to stop any kind of projects with you until I get some of kind of agreement in writing that I will receive credit for the hemi grant that was promised, the 4k that was promised because I'm doing solar, and I want confirmation that I will receive the $5,073 towards my a/c project... the only reason I went with you guys is because I was promised all the credits and incentives and now everything is starting to fall through... this is driving me crazy”
-On April 13, in a text message, Chris replied back & confirmed that he will indeed make sure that I will qualify for all the grants & incentives as promised.
- To this day I have not received the $4k energy start grand, the $5,073 towards my a/c project, The 10% hemi grant on the spray foam, & I still have a concern with my solar system that I brought concern up on Dec 7 2015. The solar was suppose to be done in July 2015.
-----------------------------
As far as projects, everything was great until all the work started. TAG started with Spraying the entire roof with closed cell insulation on April 15, 2015. At one point all the work stopped because the spray operator figured that the garage portion of the roof was not included in the spray when in fact I have 3 e-mails confirming that the area over the garage was indeed part of the quote. A lot of people got involved & TAG did in fact honor the quote & not increase the price because the area over the garage was part of the quote (confirmed by e-mails). When I signed the contract, there was also a 10% HEMI grant that was promised to me. After many e-mails & text messages, Court reassured that he would make the 10% go away in a tax credit.
Upon arrival on the first day of the spray job, the generator didn’t start for TAG employees. To remedy the situation, they tapped into my electrical panel which accumulated a big NIMO bill at the end of the month that was never compensated for. They pulled out a handful of the wires on my electrical panel since they were trying to tap in & never bothered to neatly arrange the wires back in place. As a result, I didn’t pass electrical inspection because the clump of wires was a mess & I had to pay my electrician twice to re-work the wiring in the panel. When they started Spraying, they brought in cold tanks which resulted in bad mixtures. At one point, while they were spraying, the foam was not mixing well & the foam was discolored & very gum like goo that you were able to stretch & pull. It also released a really bad smell. I made them call the owner of the manufacturer on April 24 because of the bad mix & the manufacturer indeed confirmed that the foam that was sprayed needed to be completely removed. [redacted]-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted]
It was a big mess & the foam was discolored, gooey, & lots of little worm holes, & smelled for a long time. They didn’t even remove all the bad foam (as seen on photos) & just came back the next day & sprayed right over the bad foam to cover it up & they insisted that it was going to be fine because it was sprayed over. To this day, when I cut a piece of foam out from any area, the foam is yellow on the inside & green on the edges & you can smell a nasty odor. The only thing I regret that I didn’t do is take more photos of the spray job & not document all the things that went bad with photos. Both my bathroom tubs were not covered well & spray foam got on both of them… I had to scrub for hours because I couldn’t trust them to take care of it. To this day, there are spots on the new tubs that we got. Knowing we invested in such an expensive job, a new house, & everything we put in it… the process was daunting, stressful, caused lots of headache, & disbelief that anyone could ever do anything like this.
There are many e-mails & text messages that prove what a painful process this was. At one point, I found out the companies owner’s cell #, Steve Tallman & gave him a call & I complained about how long it was taking, that there was excessive insulation sprayed on my studs as well as staples from poly that guys put up. It was crazy that in order for me to get anyone to do anything, I had to raise a fuss & call the owner. The owner did send additional guys to help with cleanup, removing the extra spray, & other misc things but it only got worse. After 2 weeks of spraying, I tried reaching out to Court with numerous e-mails, text messages, & I even tried texting Chris, Amanda, & communication was dropped to an absolute minimum. Text messages & e-mails prove that I sent out 10-15 e-mails & text messages with no response whatsoever.
At one point I wrote an e-mail to Court on June 3, 2015 “Hi Court, I need some kind of communication from you because I'm ready to head on over to the shop with my frustrations & demand a refund because I feel like I'm not getting what I paid for!!!! Please give me a call as soon as you can. Thank you.” – that obviously didn’t help and I finally got soo frustrated with everything that I called the owner & screamed & threatened to hire a lawyer.
While spraying the garage portion of the roof, the operators failed to cover the joists & the overspray from the insulation fell right on all the brand new installed garage doors (all 3 of them – 3 car garage). I went to [redacted] where I bought these luxurious doors & provided TAG paperwork & documentation on what exactly needs to be replaced to make them brand new again but they failed to replace them until this day.
On May 20, I exploded & couldn’t handle it anymore… I called Steve Tallman & expressed my concerns with missed areas in spray foam, lost of overspray on tools, plumbing pipes, & even my garage doors.
On May 20, I sent Steve this message: “I need to know how my garage doors are being handled… are they being re-ordered? I think we need to fix communication problem with Court, Amanda, & everyone else because this is outrageous and its really frustrating!!!!
On May 20th, I also texted Court “This job is driving me insane… I just called Steve Tallman again & I’m ready to give up on you guys!! With a follow-up message “Can I get a update on whats being done about my garage doors as well as solar panel”
It was issue after issue, problem after problem… & no one wanted to come out & take care of me! Tag was already doing my mechanicals & I’ve been asking Court for over a month to get me setup with a Boiler – Here is a text message to Steve Tallman on May 20th --- “I feel like this whole TAG project is a nightmare for me and I can’t even get court to get me a quote for a boiler install. “ – at this point even Steve didn’t bother replying.
June 3rd – e-mail from Steve Tallman “the garage door over spray is open… Amanda or Chris by COB tomorrow will have a plan for you.
June 19th – Text message to Amanda with no response “Can I get an update on my garage doors”
------------------------
After few weeks no communication, no results, & no update….I finally got soo frustrated & upset & drove out to TAG mechanical office. At this point I had issues with Solar, HVAC, & Insulation ….& stormed into the office looking for owners, here is my conversation which is recorded on Audio:
http://www[redacted]-owners-wife/
On July 13th, I expressed concerns to the owners wife:
-expressed there is no communication
-HVAC installation is taking way too long (started in mid May & its already July 13
-We keep ordering the flex for the HVC pipes & we are waiting over a month
-I wanted to know whats happening to the overspray on my garage doors?
On July 13, the Owners wife apologized & said that she will make sure there will be a resolution right away!!!
------------------------
After I met with the Owners wife, I then sat down with the owner & his daughter Amanda (recorded on audio):
On July 13th, I expressed concerns to the owner & Amanda (project manager):
-expressed there is no communication
-expressed that there were many missed areas of spray insulation in roof
-expressed concern that projects & exceeding expectations were far from being met & no one was trying to meet commitments as promised to me.
- expressed that I still have issues with insulation, I still have issues with Solar, & still A/C is not done
-HVAC installation is taking way too long (started in mid May & its already July 13
-We keep ordering the flex for the HVC pipes & we are waiting over a month
-I wanted to know whats happening to the overspray on my garage doors?
-Steve promises to have everything completed by end of the week.
-Amanda apologizes for not following up
-I mention that I’m not satisfied with EVERYTHING & I would like a discount/refund
http://www.[redacted]/07/13/conversation-with-steve-tallman-amanda-[redacted]/ /> ------------------------
…. Its now September 1, 2015 & we are moved in (Conversation with Steve Owner & Court (salesman):
-Again, There was numerous times that the owner promised to take care of me
-I mention that Garage doors are still not resolved
-Court Mentions that he will try to clean the garage doors with a solution
-I express numerous times how all the TAG projects are impossible to deal with & extremely frustrating.
-I express that again that there is no communication & I leave e-mails, text messages & 5-6 voice messages & no one cares to respond to me.
-Court attempts to bring up loan but I refuse to pay because job is not complete
-I express concerns with A/C install & its been 4 months & it still doesn’t work
-A/C pipes were completely mixed up going into dining & bedroom together
-Installers left the A/C running with the overflow drain pipe… flooding the kitchen & laundry rooms that already had finished floors & trim work done
-A/C doesn’t work & we are moved in
-Installers attempt to fix A/C & leave it running flooding the house the 2nd time.
-Lots of issues with overspray still… tubs were oversprayed & not taken care of.
-Missing areas of spray insulation in Rim joists
-I mention that there is a problem with solar – only detecting 39 panels
-I mention that I’m not satisfied with service & I want a discount
http://www[redacted]/2015/09/01/conversation-with-steve-tallman-court-r[redacted... /> ------------------------
After September 1st 2015 meeting with the owner… there was numerous times I called Court & texted with a technician that my A/C (HVAC) system was not working & functioning at all.. so the whole summer I was NOT able to use my A/C at all & going into the winter months the Heat Pump with a heating coil was not functional at all in the HVAC system.
Here are a few text messages I sent to Court:
To Court – 9/28/15 “Court, my A/C is not working properly, when will we finalize everything… we’ve been living here already for 2 weeks and want to finalize the grant as well”
To Court – 10/5/15 “We need to do it today because I have to get my heat working… its been really cold last few nights”
To Court – 10/5/15 “something is wrong with setup because when I turn heat on, a/c unit comes on & as well with cold air
To Court – 12/7/15 “ I need to know whats going on with A/C, Solar, & I have a situation with my insulation. I have condensation forming in 2 parts of the roof. If you want to schedule an appointment to resolve these issues than I’m available anytime.
To Court – 12/7/15 – “Apparently last technician for the a/c that was here over a month ago said he still needed to come back… as far as the solar, you were the one that said you were going to get back to me after I printed out all my [redacted] statements… the condensation issue is new and I just discovered it last week and I’m not happy about it… I’ve been watching it to make sure its still happening on a dry and sunny cold day to make sure its not rain water.
--------------------------------
To this day Court has not replied to my last concern that was dated 12/7/15. Until this day, I still have problems with my Insulation, HVAC unit, & I have solar concerns that I’ve expressed. I’m sure by now that he has forgotten all these issues.
--------------------------------
Now with all the projects that were partially done & NEVER FINALIZED or COMPLETED, as a result of TAG Mechanical, there are even bigger problems at hand that affect the livelihood and our health at our new home.
After Tag completed the closed cell spray insulation… there are areas that spray foam didn’t mix/form right & off gas.
http://[redacted]tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hva[redacted] There are areas in the roof that often condensate as a result of heat loss

http://clients.[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac[redacted] http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted]
There are many areas in the attic that have been missed causing heat to escape throughout the winter months & there was crazy amounts of condensation formation along with icicles.

http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted] Joists, flooring, & soffit are rotting away from improper spray because of heat loss & condensation forming on wood surfaces which eventually drops on floor.
http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac[redacted] http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted]
http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted] Entire eve of the roof has very minimal insulation which causes lots of heat to escape & extremely high bills every month.

So much heat loss occurs that condensation forms & fried electrical flood light which doesn’t function anymore & rusts spots on other soffit lights

Electrical Panel has been unscrewed, Wires are all dangling, & 220 volts going to breaker… everything was left as is which is extremely dangerous for kids & family, or anyone else that can come up there.

http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted]/tag-mec... /> Solar System not functioning properly at all
… & finally the TAG trailer to prove it all…. http:/[redacted]/tag-mechanical-systems-insulation-solar-hvac/[redacted] ------------------------
The technician that was here back in November left all the wiring on the HVAC system wide open, left the breaker box, open which is extremely dangerous because we have 2 kids that are always running around to the basement & attic…. I called a lawyer & had him come to my house to verify everything & he said I should take pictures of all of this.
------------------------
Highlights of issues/problems of insulation
-During the spray process, the operators didn’t do a good job containing the overspray.
-Both tubs were sprayed & still have spots on them to this day.
-Lots of tools, ladders, & misc items were over sprayed.
-Plumbing pipes that were roughed in were completed buried in spray foam – it was a mess to dig up.
-Interior doors were oversprayed
-door knobs were oversprayed
-3 garage doors were oversprayed.
-vertical studs were oversprayed causing problems with sheetrock installation
-Ice formation in the soffit eves causing a potential slipping hazard in the entryway
------------------------
Highlights of issues/problems I had with HVAC
-ran short of flex pipe – took 3 months to complete piping
-installers dug out too much insulation while feeding pipe through attic roof
-now problems with condensation.
-Installers left A/C running 2 times cause 2 separate flooded areas after finished floor & trim were completed.
-Wires dangling
-breaker box cover unscrewed, left open
-A/C, Heat Pump, & Heating Coil --- Nothing works
------------------------
After doing much research on Solar panel installations found these issue with my solar system:
-The small sub-array over the house (8 panels) is oriented in such a way that the panels visually cross the roof plane and protrude into another roof surface at the lower valley of the roof.
-the staggering/orientation of the large south-east array and small house sub-array in the valley will cause snow and ice to build-up, that will eventually cause damage to roof and/or panels.
-the sub-array over the porch roof has a penetration that was not made with a roof boot or soladeck. Rather, a LB fitting and duct seal was used to seal the penetration.
- the paperwork provided by TAG does not clearly identify system production, pricing, incentives, and tax credits that reflect the actual system installed; therefore production & other data is misleading information.
-in-accurate & misleading statistical information were provided to the customer that did not provide accurate production results as well as pay off & cashflow for the solar system (which if I would have more accurate data & knowing that my payoff is close for the systems is 12- or 15 year, I would have never invested in the system. (this is the worst when companies try to sell you products or services & lie about the statistical information just to get you to buy it)
------
With all these issues at hand, TAG still manages to send me monthly invoices to pay the full amount of the projects & even more so than we agreed on initially. I don’t know where this will lead but I’ve given TAG Mechanical plenty of chances & plenty of months to complete their job. Its been a year now & I’ve met with the owners a couple times during the stressful times when the projects were worked on & I stressed heavily how dis-satisfied I was & how frustrated I was & I was promised by the owner to have everything completely once in July & once in September… At this point, it April of 2016 (one year later) & I do not want this company to lay another foot on my property. If I see them, it will be in a courtroom!. I still have not paid them a penny & I do not plan on paying them at all… If anyone else has issues with TAG, please contact me [redacted]

[redacted] is the time line on when we wanted the system out we wanted it out over a year ago and were very vocal about it, however Tag wanted to try to make it work.As far as the payments go we made two $7000 payments totaling $14,000 in good faith to two different credit cards, one a MasterCard and one an American Express. Another misrepresentation of the truth and extremely offensive is that I'm in the business of credit card processing and  I circumvented the system to get $7000 back. [redacted] but his companyRegards,[redacted]
