We ordered a cake from Cakes by Grace around September 2013 for my daughters wedding. This vendor was chosen after a cake tasting. The vendor said she could do the cake & design. A picture of the cake was emailed to the vendor for her reference in making the cake. The day before the wedding, the vendor contacts the wedding planner & informs her they do not have the colors for the cake (fondant ribbon on the bottom of the cake) & she was unaware of the color needs. The wedding planner emailed her the picture again (the same picture from 2013). The vendor did not provide the fondant ribbon on the cake & we had to get cloth ribbon from the florist in order to make the cake look so-so. When the cake was delivered, the fondant on the cake was bubbling, there was a lack of attention to the detail on the bottom edges, the round of each tier, etc. It looked like it had been thrown together at the last minute by an amateur. When the bride & groom attempted to do their cake cutting, the fondant pushed & wasnt set. They were unable to take a piece out. They could only pose for a picture. When the cake was moved to the back for cutting, the wedding planner was summoned as the cake was falling apart. Every slice was falling apart. There were complaints from the guests & vendors that the cake did not look like it was put together well & many complained about the taste of the cake. Even the bride & groom said it did not taste anywhere near the cake tasting they did prior to choosing this vendor. They charged us for the fondant colors that they did not provide. They provided an inferior cake & charged us 675.00. The bride & groom wanted the top tier to keep & they were not able to even get that as the entire cake had to be cut in order to get enough decent pieces to serve to the guests. In attempting to settle this without incident, the wedding planner sent an email to the vendor on my behalf asking for a 50% refund. I was willing to allow them to keep 50% for the wasted product. The vendor has not acknowledged us or responded to the complaint. This is very bad business. At this time, I would like a full refund of monies wasted on an inferior product & a company that should be based on customer service.Product_Or_Service: Wedding CakeOrder_Number: n/aAccount_Number: [redacted] weddinDesired SettlementIn the beginning I would have been fine with a 50% refund. On 7/30 I contacted them again as I had not received anything nor had I received a response to the question I asked. As of today, I have not received said compensation. On 7/30 I was told compensation was sent. on 8/4 when I let them know I had not received anything, I was informed that it was sent on 8/1.
