Review: I asked for a weekly rental rate on two properties. Tried to accept one of them and was told the quote was wrong, now double.
Listing #XXXXXX was booked for my dates clearly stated in the email (Sept 3-Sept 10, 2013). This home was not available so the agent asked me what my must haves were and my budget. I stated this in reply and included my budget and was replied to as follows:
The best options I have is the following dog friendly home about 2 miles from Patton Beach:

3 bedroom 3 bathroom new construction home located in the quiet Cedar Flat neighborhood on the North Shore. Hot tub, gourmet kitchen, elegantly constructed and furnished. Sleeps 8. . $765 plus tax and cleaning (total $1,110.50 ).
Upon replying back within 2 hours of receiving that email and accepting. As well as phoning twice today I received this response from another agent:

Affordable remodeled North Shore home features a hot tub and pool table, and allows well behaved dogs. Sleeps 9+. Rate: $1350/week plus tax and cleaning ($1737.50 total). And even closer to Patton Beach!
Finally I heard from my original agent as follows:
Hi [redacted],
I apologize, made an error and misread your dates and quoted you for a 3 night stay instead of a week long stay. As [redacted] mentioned, the weekly rate is $1630 plus tax and cleaning for a total of $2062.
Sorry about the mistake on my part. Please let us no of I can be of further assistance.
I replied asking for them to contact me. Have left voice messages on both agents voice mails and they aren't returning my call. Not only did they not offer a reduced rate to handle their wrongdoing they were crass offering another location and the first agent even went outside my budget at the newly quoted rate.
So options are:
1. (implication you cannot afford this) here is another property that is less
2. book this property at double the rate we quoted you.Desired Settlement: I honestly doubt that there will be any resolution to this in a timely enough fashion for them to do anything. As I need to book a property. I would like for them to book us in a property for a week next season at the quoted rate.
Review: We booked a three day stay at a vacation rental in Tahoe through the above agency. They sold us trip cancellation insurance and explained that we would be fully covered in the event of cancellation. No stipulations or restrictions were communicated to us nor were we sent the policy. The day before our departure (8/29), the smoke conditions in Tahoe from the Yosemite (Rim) fire were extremely bad with respiratory alerts issued. Since we were taking our 1 year old granddaughter and didn't want to expose her to those conditions, we cancelled our trip. I am a Fire Captain of 33 years and am not unfamiliar with the effects of prolonged smoke conditions. We were told by Tahoe Getaways to take it up with the insurance company CSA Travel Protection. The insurance company has denied our claim. The amount we were charged was 1493.56. We have appealed to Ca. Dept of Insurance, cliam #XXXXXXX. We feel that Tahoe Getaways did not accurately represent to us the stipulations of the cancellation policy and refuses to help us in any way.

The burden, we feel, is on Tahoe Getaways to refund to amount above already debited from our Master Card account plus any interest charges incurred. I can supply supporting internet documents showing the atmospheric conditions on 8/29 (the day we had to decide to go or cancel) if needed. In addition to all the information on the web we contacted three people we knew in the are all of whom told us to cancel as long as we had the insurance.
