On November 11th, I showed Mrs [redacted] a rental property that we are currently looking to find a tenant for in Chaska, MNDuring the showing Mrs [redacted] explained to me that she had applied for another property and been denied and claimed it was because she is "black"I explained our application process to her and at that time she did write a check to cover the security depositI let her know she needed to make times the monthly rent & all adults over would need to applyI let her know that she would need steady- long term employment and positive rental history to qualify and that she may be required to pay a double deposit and/or have a co-signerBoth Mrs [redacted] and her daughter [redacted] applied to rent the propertyDuring the application process it was brought to our attention that they do not qualify based on income as we do require a 3x the monthly rent minimumIn addition, the rental history came back negativeWhen I contacted Mrs [redacted] to let her know that we would not be approving her application, she became very upsetShe demanded her application fee which we do not refund and she accused me of lying to her stating I had at some point assured her she would be accepted, which I did notI can provide you with email copies from the conversations we hadI assure you, we did not promise her she would be accepted and we were clear with her when she applied about what our stipulations are in order to qualify to rent our propertiesPlease let me know how I can assist you in this matter and I will be happy to help, thank you Thank You!
