We have tried to reach out to Ms*** on three occasions since this complaint was filed, but have not spoken with her (she has not returned our calls and from the claim - she did not want to speak with our office)However, we would like to resolve this claimWe would be happy to give
Ms*** a full refund, if she were to return the glasses to any of one of our officesI would also offer to provide for her an additional optometric examination within the next year for free

I reviewed your history with Tallman Eye Associates and, because of your significant medical history, I understand why the visit would have been billed as a medical visit (i.eyour concomitant significant medical finding warrant this classification)Your *** *** *** considers your underlying medical condition as a medical (not all payers do). Nonetheless, you came in on 4/24/desiring reading glasses only. You were dilated and refraction and exam were performedYou were given a prescription for glassesWe discussed this yesterday and decided to refund the copayThis was added to your account todayYour refund check will be processed around July 2nd

This patient was refunded her $copayment in April We considered this issue resolved

My co payment was NOT refunded. My appointment was in 2015, not 2014. I spoke with Tallman Eye yesterday (6.23.2015) and I was told that all of the documentation is showing a "medical appointment" and that is how it was billed. They refused to resubmit it properly (as a routine exam). I have email proof, if required. They forwarded a summary of my visit. It reviewed items that I had been seen for previously, however, this appointment was scheduled as a routine exam in response to my notification card. If the doctor questions you about previous issues, I do not believe I should be charged for a "special/medical" visit!

Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attention.  We researched this complaint and found that it is both a misunderstanding as well as a miscommunication back to the patient. Although the patient does have [redacted] and assumed that we would bill her [redacted] plan, the doctor performed a medical...

visit, not routine, which requires us to submit the claim to the patient’s health insurance. When the patient’s spouse called our billing service, he was told that we would submit the claim to [redacted] however, the customer service rep did not have enough information available to her to realize that the visit was medical, not routine. Had the rep known that, she would have educated the patient’s spouse. We have since reached out to the patient but have been unsuccessful to date.  We will continue our attempts to reach her to resolve this matter to her satisfaction.
