Tammaro Landscape and Design Reviews (1)

Review: This man grossly overcharged me for the work. In addition, he didn't complete the job as we had discussed. Then, his paperwork is very misleading as he attempts to squeeze money out of you for every item. He was supposed to put down two pieces of landscape wood and get the area ready for river rock that we wanted to put down. He had an additional item in invoice saying that he wanted 85 dollars to put landscape cloth down and reseed. I had a discussion with him about the use of landscape cloth and it was simply to prevent weeds and so we passed on this as it was already costing us 325 dollars. He simply left the wood pieces there and did nothing with the grass to prepare area. This is misleading because no one would put landscape cloth over full grass and so this was a sneaky way to charge more money. When I called and said that this was not what I wanted, he said that he was only supposed to install wood. He said he would come back and never did. Then he threatened me with civil action for not paying. I didn't pay because he didn't finish the job. He also tried adding a delivery fee for items that would fit into a standard car. He is a crook and never completed the work.Desired Settlement: I want the work finished or money back.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Again, the work I asked **. [redacted] to do was not done. I wanted him to put in the edge and take up the grass. When I got home, the work was not completed as I had asked.

As you can see in the paperwork, he wanted to charge $85 as an additional item to put down landscape cloth. No one would put landscape cloth on top of grass. I passed on this because, again, he was trying to grossly overcharge me for materials and labor.

Looking at the attached picture, you can see why $325 is a gross overcharge for the work completed - putting down landscape lumber. As you can see in the second attachment from Home Depot, the materials did not cost more than 25% of his charge. This picture does not show the materials used; they were of a lesser quality.

It was my understanding that the grass would be removed and landscape lumber put down. Clearly, as the picture shows, he didn't do that. The picture really says it all when you take into consideration what he charged for this. In addition to the photo, I have also attached the letter I wrote to **. [redacted] which explains more in reference to this.

In response to my letter, **. [redacted] wrote to me and asked what he could do to make this better. I told him that yes, he should at the very least take up the grass as he was supposed to do. I also asked that he put the rocks down to buffer the outrageous price I paid. If he had no intention of making the situation better, why did he even ask? He then, as typical of his sneaky and confusing ways, now says I just asked him to do work for free. This is not true and not the case. I asked him to finish the job and yes maybe give me an hour of labor and wheel around and dump the rocks in this small space.

I also want to add that the rocks are bought and sold by the ton usually. I only need 1 ton of work, but he was ready to charge me for two as you can see in his invoice. In addition, no landscape company charges for delivery of materials. This is not a standard in the business as I have mulch delivered and put in every year. I have also had a patio built with no delivery charge of material. I discussed with him on the phone that I was passing on the rocks because of his overcharge on price per ton as well as delivery. That wood he put down in no way requires a special delivery. Again, proof he is sneaky and grossly overcharges people for every item.

He was here for less than an hour and that was for two small jobs. I was overcharged for that job too, but that is beside the point bc at least that was complete. I didn't even get 1 hrs worth of work and the material were so cheap that it is clear that he is overcharging people. I think this is very wrong and would like the number for the government agency that was mentioned to me on the phone that regulates what business owners can charge people for services.
