Computer hacking with scan Was searching for a recipe on the internet when my laptop locked up with a warning "Contact [redacted] Technician at once. Once I called the number I got a "tech" that determined my "computer gateway"- not my computer was infected with a "Russian Trojan Horse" that could "access information through the gateway from my computer. This "tech" then said he could not remedy the situation. He referred me to an outside technical support provider and also informed me that it would cost between $500.00 and $600.00. He then assigned me a case ID number "for security" and that they will not accept payments via check or [redacted] "for my security". Payment only by cashier's check or money order. he then forwarded my info to the alternate technical support who would be contacting me via phone and was sure tell me to ask for the case ID number "for my protection". Geek Swap LLC is 100% as scam Their physical address is a PO Box located inside a UPS I original suffered the same exact challenges as the previous reviews Once the issue was resolved, Geek Swap called back months later to do a follow up (scam) At this time when they logged onto my computer to "update the software", they actually deleted all my files and demanded payment for me to get them back The call center was based out of India and the representative was extremely confident when I threatened to turn them in He even mentioned "your president Donald Trump couldn't catch me even if he wanted to"
As I went to the physical address, the representative from UPS did begin to tell me that they were under investigation by the USPS
This is not a business and a total SCAM!their license deserves to be revoked and all the culprits deserve to be imprisoned for a long time

My computer was hackedI was directed to this company for resolutionThe whole thing was a scam
On 8/27, as I was doing a search on the internet, I received an alert and audible warning on my computer, allegedly from ***, that instructed to immediately stop using any devices connected to the internet and call a specific phone number for assistanceUnfortunately, I did call, and gave the party on the other end, who alleged to be a *** employee, control of my computerAfter going through some motions, he told me I had been invaded by a Trojan Horse and would need a computer engineer to resolve the problem and it would cost me about $1,He told me he could connect me to such a personI said go ahead and with having to make another call I was transferred to Geeks SwapThey confirmed the so-called problem, said they fixed it, got me to record a message saying I was satisfied and E-mailed me an invoice for $After the dust had settled, I had second thoughts about

I wish I had hung up the phone and checked with my cousin first as I now know that I was scammed by this companyFor future peoples who are smarter than me and check this website first before agreeing to give them access to your computer, just turn your computer off and allow it to sit for a few minutes and then turn it back on"They" hacked your computer no one elseThis company is not affiliated with Microsoft at allThey are located in India and prey on folks like me who are not that computer savyThey made it sound ominous and that I would lose everything on my computer and that my files were being downloaded by someone overseasIt was...by them! Now I have agreed to pay them $to delete my cookies that I could have done myselfI feel like an itDon't be like me, hang up the phone and listen to that little voice that is telling you to call someone you trust to tell you the truth

A palert appeared on my screenIt said not to touch any keys and call the number displayedMy call was answered by someone identifying themselves as a Microsoft techHe said that he could not fix the problem and I would need to talk to a "Network Gatway Programer" and I would have to pay them to fix my computerI allowed the "Programer access to my compHe fixed the problemI think they caused the problem so I would have them fix itHe said to send a money order or a cashiers check to the Las Vegas address At that point it sounded fishy to meThe address is not a physical office but a mail forwarding placeI think it is a scamI will not send the money
