I have read the said complaint sent to you about my company. I have read the said complaint and feel we have been treated in a way we do not deserve. For example for us to choose [redacted] paint, We have had no bad outcome with that product. I would never recommend such a thing. I received a...

call from 2 guys called me on separate nights wanting my address to come to my house at 9:30 to pick up a deposit. No name just a phone call about the order. Then again the same type issue happened again 2 weeks later. Also a remark from a female that we are out scamming the "elderly". My answer to this situation is to set up a better time after New Years to have us do a better job. Same Cost.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted].The response by Mr. [redacted] is not surprising, he is a master of misdirection and circular conversation.  None of the statements or comments quoted by Mr. [redacted] have any relevance on the facts of the complaint: that Mr. [redacted] collected $1950 at the end of April 2017 and did not fulfilled the obligations of the agreement (painting the house).  Callers to Mr. [redacted], always identified themselves (contrary to Mr. [redacted] claims), and the request for Mr. [redacted] address was made because Mr. [redacted] refused to come to [redacted]’s house or a neutral location, so a refund could be made by Mr. [redacted].  As for the remark made by the “female” referencing “scamming the elderly”, that was a reference to the phone call sited in the original complaint, which was made by [redacted]’s daughter [redacted].  During that conversation Mrs. [redacted] did indicate that when a contractor takes a 50% deposit from a person over the age of 65 and then does not do the work, it appears like they are out to scam the elderly.  This conversation with Mr. [redacted], was the only one which resulted in any effort by Mr. [redacted] to fulfill the agreement (Mr. [redacted] power washed the house).  As stated in the original complaint, [redacted] hired [redacted]’s Painting of Hyannis, MA to paint the house, and they were able to complete the work within two months of signing their contract.  We request the full refund of the $1950 from Mr. [redacted] of Larry James Services, as the services were never rendered and are no longer required.

The work has been done and cleaned. Power washed the entire front of the house including shutters spring of 2015. The customer had made several dates for us to complete the job and the property kept being rented which forced us to have to change plans. I wash not able to finish the job in that...

fashion and we agreed, Entire house had been power washed and the full front stained and painted. I will for go any extra work, materials used, tools lost through the winter. The customer had workers inside during the winter. The customer had rest of expensive paint and stain purchased by us to finish the job. I feel the job is done work is satisfactory as is customer.

I reject Larry James Service’s (LJS) response to my complaint. In his reply to my complaint to Cape Cod Revdex.com, [redacted], owner
of LJS, although difficult to understand, I believe is in essence saying because my house in Eastham was being rented that he could not paint the house. Additionally, he claims that my changing rental situation made it difficult
for him to schedule a time to paint the house. Plus, he is also stating that the 30% deposit of $1395 covers the work he did, the paints purchased, the cost of brushes and thus he did not owe me any refund.Let me cover each of these statements: ? Between June 10, 2014 when I sent him the $1395 deposit to paint my house and June 29, 2015 when [redacted]
said that he could not paint my house and was returning my deposit in full, 54 weeks had passed; during that time, the house was rented for 11 weeks, leaving 43 weeks available to paint the house. (I have documentation of
the weeks that were rented) The four weeks from June 15, 2014 to July 12, 2104 were not rented and the period from September 1, 2014 to May 30, 2015 was also not rented, certainly plenty of time to paint the house. He stated
in his reply to my complaint, that we had workers in the house during the winter months. The workers were all inside the house and did not impact or deter exterior painting.? As far as my changing rental situation impacting when he could paint the house, I communicated the status
of the rental situation numerous times, keeping him updated on the times the house was available. Each time he said that he would be able to paint the house around my schedule.? The statement that the work he did and the materials purchased for the job covers the value of the deposit
is far from the truth. The quote that Larry James issued included replacing rotted wood trim and shingles on the main house, washing and painting the house, plus painting two exterior sheds with minimal rotted wood replacement
for those two sheds. The quote for all the work was for $4650. I paid 30% down payment to assure that we would be put in his schedule and the house would be painted before the winter of 2014. o Ultimately, we had the house painted by another painter and the rotted wood replaced by a carpenter.
The carpenter charged $1700 to replace all the rotted wood. Let’s assume that is the value of the work that [redacted] had put in his quote to replace the rotted wood, that leaves $2950 for washing the house, prepping
for paint and painting the house. The part of the house he painted represents less than 10% of the exterior surfaces detailed in his quote, or $295.o Let’s look at the work he did. He washed the house, removed and painted 7 of 8 shutters, and painted
the front of the house. The house was washed sometime mid October, 2014 and the front of the house painted sometime during the first half of November of 2014. We revisited the house in the beginning of December 2014 and
saw no further progress. Because it was getting too cold to paint, we picked up shutters that were strewn in the yard and put them in a safer place. We had to move their extension ladder that was left on the path to the
back door. When Larry James Services power washed the house, some rotted trim broke loose exposing a large hole where rain and snow could get into the interior of the house and cause damage. It was obvious that LJS was not
coming back to finish the work, so I covered the hole with some wood, carefully caulking the opening so it was weather proof.o Last but not least, the response to my complaint says that he lost value of all the paint that he bought
for the house. After LJS painted the front of the house, the remaining paint was left inside the house for safe keeping. There was a partial gallon of paint for the body of the house, a partial quart of paint for the shutters
and flower boxes and a partial pint can of paint for the front door. There was no other paint that he purchased that was evident to me. One of LJS’s workers finally came on May 23, 2015 to take his ladder, paints and plastic
buckets where he stored his brushes. In closing, [redacted] of LJS offered to return my deposit because he could not complete the work. As of October 24, 2015 that
has not yet occurred.
Regards,
[redacted]
