I received an email from this customer December 2nd stating his puppy was ill and some tests were being done and I replied asking for a diagnosis. He replied December 8th with a copy of his vet bill and no other information such as a diagnosis...

or what had happened to her. He didn't communicated with me at all about her condition or even ask for payment of her charges. There was nothing in the email other than the vet bill. He chose to file this complaint as a means to get a refund on his puppy rather than write to me to resolve the issue and discuss it. My business is in Colorado and the puppy was shipped to him in Nevada and all out of state sales sign a contract with me stating any vet bills are the responsibility of the new owner. He also signed my contract stating the puppy needs to be examined within two days of arrival and the buyer needs to report back to me the findings of this exam to secure the guarantee on the puppy through either a text message or email. If his puppy was found unfit for adoption during this first initial exam he could return her for an exchange of equal value. The return shipping is his responsibility. He did not provide me with the exam results on her first visit. He also has not given me any information about her condition other than the Banfield vet bill he paid. It showed a series of tests but no test results. I'm providing a copy of the Out Of State portion of my contract he signed detailing instructions. It states that if the puppy is found unfit for adoption during this initial exam the buyer has the option to keep the puppy and assume financial liability. If the purchaser does not want to assume financial liability for the animal if they are found to be ill during this first initial exam, they must surrender ownership of the puppy back to the seller and the puppy's care will from that time forth be dictated by the seller. This buyer did not do this. Since the puppy was seen at Banfield on December 1st, weeks after her arrival in Nevada, her vet bills are his responsibility. He also signed a page of the contract stating we do not give cash or credit refunds for any reason. If the puppy has a condition affecting her major organs or joints that is fatal or life threatening, he is entitled to an additional puppy however this has to be documented with tests provided to me by two unrelated vets. He has no right to a refund of any kind. Paying vet bills is part of owning a pet. It's impossible to know how she became sick by looking at a bill stating tests were performed. He made no attempt to contact me with his findings or even discuss the situation to resolve the issue. Sending me a copy of his vet bill is not a request for any kind of payment or refund. This buyer will not communicate with me and give me information on the current condition of the puppy.
